Great Quotes

Select a quote from the video and explain its meaning. What is the most common quote used in the video? Do your parents or grandparents or coaches have any quoted that they use repeatedly. Do you know any phrases from songs that could be used as great quotes? Are there any quotes from athletes that you find inspiring?

It takes courage to stand up and speak. But it also takes courage to sit down and listen. All of the quotes talk about something that has to deal with you or someone else that you have to help. Make good choices-my mom says that. The phrase from a song that could be used as a great quote would be." "Life is not tried, it is merely survived If you're standing outside the fire." “We did what we could do to win the game. That's all that we can really take care of, whatever happens on the field. The refs do what they do, and we've got to do our part. It's not our job to do the officiating. It's not the fans' job to do the officiating.”- Troy Polamalu!

If you see someone without a smile, give them yours. I think the most common quote is do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Yes my mom always says what goes around comes around. I think a great quote from a song is And as we wind on down the road
our shadows taller than our soul
there walks a lady we all know
who shines white light and wants to show how everything still turns to gold and if you listen very hard
the tune will come to you at last
when all are one and one is all
to be a rock and not to roll. "led zeppelin" from the song stairway to heaven. Yes, Lance Armstrong once said "Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."

Those on top of the mountain didn’t fall off, this quote simply means try, try and try again, even if you do not succeed, try again. If you fall down, always get back up and try again. Yes, all of my family, and coaches use quotes similar too these all of the time! They also you many more than just what quotes are on the video. Yes, there are many quotes from athletes that are inspiring, David Ortiz once said” everyone on the team has a responsibility, even the bat boy.” Another quote that I find inspiring is, “Every sport pretends to a literature, but people don't believe it of any other sport but their own.” Alistair Cooke said that, and it is one of my favorite quotes.

I like the quote "those on top of the mountain, didn’t fall there." This means that, it takes hard work to reach your dreams. When you reach a goal, it is because you have strived to get there and it doesn’t fall in your lap. Life is like that because anything that is worth it comes with hard work. We shouldn’t expect things to come easy and if it’s worth having, it’s worth working for and sometimes it will feel like you are climbing a mountain, but you can’t give up. I think the most common quote is “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” My mom say's that all the time and I hear it a lot from adults. My Nunny says “Always finish what you start.” She says that means you can never be called a quitter. I hear a lot of athletes say that they are always “in it to win it.”

The quote that I chose is those on Top of the Mountain didn’t fall there. It means to never give up and if you keep trying you will succeed. My parents say the exact same thing as what the quote means and they use this quote a lot. The quote is in Forever Young and it is you can die young or you can live forever. One athletic quote is you should never give up if you are either winning or losing. Another one is if you believe in yourself, have dedication and pride and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.

It takes courage to stand up and speak. But it also takes courage to sit down and listen. It means it takes courage to stand up and speak in front of a lot of people, but it also takes courage to sit down and listen to what others have to say. Yes, my parents and grandparents both have quotes that they say, not repeatedly though. There are lots of phrases that I like. Such as: everything happens for a reason. Which hurts the most: saying something and wishing you hadn’t, or saying nothing and wishing you had? Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. You’ll never know how strong you are…until being strong is the only choice you have. There are many, many more. The person who said winning isn’t everything, never won anything –Mia Hamm.

Go with life’s flow like a surf board rider. This means that no matter what comes your way you have to get over and go to the next thing in life. Most of them talk about yourself and how to help it. Those who wish to sing always find a song is the quote that I have selected. This means that you choose your destiny. Yes, bad things can happen to you, and you can blame all your problems on them. But in the end, we decide whether to do something about it and if we really want it, then we will try to accomplish it. The most common quote on here is, do unto others as they would do unto you. My mom and my grandma tell me that all of the time. Also, my mom always tells me what comes around goes around. There is this one song called, "The Show" and in it, it says "life is a maze, and love is a riddle." This could be used as a quote.

"To lead a symphony you must occasionally turn your back to the crowd". I believe that the quote means if you want to be a leader than you have to stop following the crowd. My grandmother is constantly telling me it takes courage to stand up and speak but it also takes courage to sit down and listen! One quote that I have heard from an athlete was when Jock Sanders a WVU wide out had stated the we got it all, and what he meant by that was they have a great team as long as they can learn to work together.

"Some people grumble that roses have thorns, while others are thankful that thorns have roses." I think this means that some people are never happy with what they have. They find something to complain about all the time. Then there are others who are thankful for the smallest thing in their life. I think the most common quote is, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." My mom always says, "If you're gonna do something, do it right the first time so you don't have to do it over again." One thing I've heard in a song is, "Don't give up without a fight." I can't think of anything from any athletes.

"Do unto others as you would them to do unto you." This means that the way you treat people would be the way they treat you back. If you wanted someone to be nice to you,you would have to be nice to them. Sometimes this does not tkae affect until you have talked to them nicely or the way you want to.The most common thing that all of the quotes have in common is to use your talent wisely or dont be afraid to stand out a little more than everybody else.My parents and freinds always say to follow your dreams and someday they might come true."You are the only acception" is a quote from a song i know.It means that you are the only one that makes your choices in YOUR life and that there is no one else like you out the in world so be the best you can.I don't know of any quotes that an athlete has said that I have heard of.

I selected five of my favorite quotes. It was too hard to select only one. The first quote is, “A flower that follows the sun does so even on cloudy days,” and it means a follower is always a follower even if their leader is not with them. Another quote is “If you accept who you are, then you can start working to become better than you are” and that means there is always room for improvement. The third quote is “A friend is someone who knows all about you, and loves you just the same” and that means friends love you for who you are and there is no reason to change. The fourth quote is “When you think about others, think love. When you think about yourself, think love. Then watch your thoughts transform reality” meaning that love has its own ways and that you should constantly be thinking about others. The final quote is “No day is over if it makes a memory” meaning if any day makes an impact on your life, you will never forget it. The most common quote in this video is “Treat others as you want to be treated”. Yes, my parents, grandparents, coaches, and teachers use quotes repeatedly to get their point across, such as “Practice makes perfect”. Many great quotes from the song ‘Outside Looking In’ by Jordin Pruitt could be used as many quotes. No, I haven’t found any quotes form athletes that are inspiring.

I think it means to listen to her because she's been through life and doesn't want me to make some of the mistakes she did. Any of Michael Jackson's songs can be used as quotes, haha, but my favorite is from his song 'Why You Wanna Trip on Me?' The quote is "They say I'm different, but they don't understand. There's a bigger problem that is much more in demand. We've got world hunger, not enough to eat, so there's really no time to be trippin' over me.' This means a lot to me because it's SO true. When Walt Disney said this quote, he meant that when you choose one idea, stick with it until it is complete. It means don’t browse off onto another topic, stick with the same thing until you have finished. When I think about it, I don’t usually hear my grandparents using quotes like the ones in the video, but I do hear my parents using one of the quotes in the video a lot of the time.
