OMG I love this song i went to one of his concerts!!!=]

This video is educational in fun because i love the song and its fun to watch everything that happened in the past.

Pope John Paul II
The pope was shot in a parade but happily forgave the man.He died not to long ago. Becuase he suddenley got a high fever and low blood pressure on March 31 then died April 2 ,2005.

I chose Pope ohn Paul II because he was the first pope of my time.

In the past year I think Katrina would be included. Because it was a devistating tradgedy in the USA.

I love that song!!! I think that its awesome that there are so many names and things that went on in that song that it made it very iteresting. There is a lot of stuff that has happened in that amount or time. And thats not even all of it. I picked Joe DiMaggio because I play baseball. Also he is like a legend. He was born Giuseppe Paolo DiMaggio, Jr. He was nicknamed Joltin' Joe and the Yankee Clipper. He retired when he was age 36. If the video was made about the past years in history would be Berry Bonds, the fact that a woman is running for president, and probably someone would put Hannah Montanna just for the hack of it. LOL!!!!! They would be included because of their roles Clinton a politicain and former first lady, Bonds a great baseball player with a lot of homeruns, and Cyrus (Hannah Montanna) daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and singer/actress. But thats Just my opinion.

This video WAS fun to watch because it had good music and it was educational.

I decide to write about the Starkweather Homicide of 1958.
On January 21, 1958, Starkweather went to visit Caril at her dilapidated house. Finding her not home, he argued with and shot to death Caril Ann's mother and stepfather, as well as fatally clubbing Caril Ann's two-year-old sister, Betty Jean. He hid the bodies at various places behind the house before Caril came home from school. The two stayed in the house for six more days, turning people away with a note taped to the door, written by Caril, that read: "Stay a Way Every Body is sick with the Flue.[sic]" Caril Ann's grandmother became suspicious and called the police. When they arrived on January 27, Charles and Caril had already gone.

Charles and Caril drove to the Bennet, Nebr., farm home of August Meyer, 70, a Starkweather family friend, whom Charles shot in the head. Shortly thereafter, they got stuck in the mud and abandoned their car. When Robert Jensen and Carol King, two local teenagers, stopped to give them a ride, Charles forced them to drive back to an abandoned storm cellar, where both were shot and killed. Starkweather admitted shooting Jensen but later claimed Fugate shot King. Starkweather and Fugate then took Jensen's car.

The two then drove back to Lincoln to the wealthier section of the town, where they entered the home of C. Lauer and Clara Ward, a wealthy local industrialist and his wife. Both Clara Ward and Lillian Fencl, the Wards' maid, were fatally stabbed. Starkweater admitted throwing a knife at Mrs. Ward but denied inflicting the multiple stab wounds that were found in her body. He also denied he fatally stabbed Fencl, whose body also showed multiple stab wounds. When Ward came home that evening Starkweather shot him. Starkweather and Fugate filled Lauer's black Packard with loot from the house and drove it into Wyoming. Needing a new car due to the high profile of the Lauer's Packard, they found traveling salesman Merle Collison, sleeping in his Buick along the highway near Douglas, Wyo. Waking Collison up, Charles shot him, although Starkweather later claimed Fugate finished him off after his (Starkweather's) gun jammed. Starkweather claimed Fugate was the "most trigger happy person" he had ever seen. A deputy sheriff happened on the scene as Starkweather was trying to start Collison's car. Fugate ran to him, yelling something to the effect of "It's Starkweather! He's going to kill me!" Starkweather tried to evade the police, exceeding speeds of over 100 miles per hour. After suffering a minor bullet wound in the ear, Starkweather stopped abruptly. Sheriff Earl Heflin said, "He thought he was bleeding to death. That's why he stopped. That's the kind of yellow sonofabitch he is." Both Starkweather and Fugate were jailed in Douglas.

Starkweather first claimed Caril had nothing to do with the murders, but changed his story several times, finally testifying at her trial that she was a willing participant. Caril has always maintained he was holding her hostage by threatening to kill her family (she maintained she did not know they were already dead.) Charles Starkweather was executed in the electric chair at the Nebraska State Penitentiary on June 25, 1959. Caril Ann was sentenced to life in prison but was paroled in 1976. Starkweather is buried in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska, along with five of his victims: the Bartlett family and the Ward couple.
Though Starkweather had already murdered once before this a year before. On November 30, 1957, Starkweather went to a Lincoln gas station where he tried to buy a stuffed toy dog for Caril on credit. The attendant, Robert Colvert, refused, and Charles left, furious. At three in the morning on December 1, 1957, Charles returned to the station with a 12 gauge shotgun. Initially, he left the gun in the car, went into the station, and bought cigarettes from Colvert, who was working alone. Starkweather left, drove down the road, turned around, and returned to the station, again leaving the gun in the car. This time he purchased a pack of gum, then once again left and drove away. He parked a distance away from the gas station, put on a bandanna and hat, then walked to the station with the shotgun and a canvas bag. He held Colvert at gun point and got $100 from the cash drawer before forcing Colvert to march back to his car. Charles drove Colvert to an abandoned area and made him get out of the car, at which point Colvert attacked Charles and attempted to get hold of the shotgun. The shotgun fired in the scuffle, knocking Colvert to his knees; Starkweather then executed the stunned Colvert with a shotgun blast to the head.
He was never charged with this murder.

I chose the Starkwell Homicide because I thought it wouldn't be something most people would choose to do.

In the past year I think they could have put something on the video about the war in Iraq or Katrina.

I LOVE THAT SONG...
I like this video because the song dosen't but you to sleep and you can learn many things that you didn't know in the past.
Albert Einstien
I picked him because... i didn't know what else to pick. Little did anyone know that young Albert Einstein, who had various speech difficulties and learned to talk late, would go on to become the most prominent physicist in history and named People magazine's "Man of the Century" in 1999. In the past year. In the past year Anna Nicole would be included. That was like the biggest thing on the news for a while when she died on Febuary 8th.

In the Billy Joel video Mailyn Monroe is one of the featued figures from history. She was a very famous actress and singer from the 1950's. Marilyn Monroe was found dead by her housekeeper on August 5, 1962.Marilyn's death was ruled as an overdose of sleeping pills. Questions remain about the circumstances and timeline of housekeeper Eunice Murray's discovery of Monroe's body. Also, some conspiracy theories involve John and Robert Kennedy. The official cause of her death was "probable suicide".
If this video were being made about last year Carey Underwood, Chris Doughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Fergie, Black Eyed Peas, Akon would all be included in music. In sports, David Beckham would have a spot in the video. In politics, there would include George Bush and Barak O'Bama. In business, Steven Jobs and his I-phone would have a spot.

I heard this song, but never really actually "listened" to it.
I found the video very interesting. My mother also watched the video with me. She pointed out many of the events that had happened during her lifetime. She also thought that the video was very educational to watch.
I choose the 1958 Children of Thalidomide. I thought the title was interesting and I wanted to learn more about it. Thalidomide is a drug that was introduced on the market in 1957 in West Germany. The drug was originally manufactured as anti-histamine, but it was found to be an effective tranquillizer with harmful side effects.
In the late 1950's and early 1960's the demand for the drug rose and it was used to treat many anxiety conditions, including morning sickness and insomnia in pregnant women. Unfortunately, Thalidomide prevented the proper growth of the fetus that resulted in horrible birth defects in children. This drug was never approved by the FDA for the use in the United States. Because of this drug, FDA standards were made stricter.
Recently this drug is again making news. It is being used in the research of HIV and AIDS.
I found this research interesting because I could not keep thinking that because of the tragic effects this drug had on a generation of people, we would never know that it may possibly help future generations of people with AIDs.
If this video were being made this year, I think many researchers/scientists who are working on a daily basis to find some cures for diseases would be on there. Many health issues have come into the news; Parkinson's, Altimers, Diabetes, AIDS, and Cancer are just a few.

Billy Joel’s song was awesome. My mom remembers it being popular. The video pictures went along with the words of the song well. The song had more meaning with the pictures, because you could actually see the events and people he was singing about. Plus being a video with pictures of the past 50 years of history made it more meaningful. We Didn’t Start the Fire means to me that it wasn’t our fault for the troubles that were shown, we didn’t have anything to do with these events or people yet they influenced our world as it is now, and influence us even today at the age we are, in the 7th grade. It showed me that the past does have an effect on the future of the people in our country

From this video the person I chose from the past is Rosa Parks. She always had to sit in the back of the bus because she was black. She became tired of not being treated fairly, and equally to the white people. Rosa took a stand for something she strongly believed in, equal rights for all people regardless of the sex or color of their skin. It took a lot of courage for her, being a woman, to stand up to a group of people and express her beliefs that would help thousands of people in the future.

The person in the last couple years that I feel should be in the video would be Lance Armstrong. He has been a person who I feel has made a great contribution to the USA and the world by his fighting the battle of cancer. He has spoken out to the world that we cannot give up in the battles we face. His battle with cancer did not keep him from riding the bike race and actually winning it again. He also has had an impact on finding a cure for cancer in a simple way by the wrist bands we all wear. The idea of the LIVESTRONG wristband reminds us to Live Strong, be strong and we can conquer. The proceeds from these bracelets go towards cancer research, to help future generations with the cancer disease. He is an example to follow in that we may go through bad and difficult times but, we need to have courage and be strong and we will make it through and we can make a difference in someone’s life, now and in the future.

I liked the video clip because it showed scenes from the past in cartoon format.
The person I chose was Sugar Ray Leonard because he was a facinating boxer of his time, and he is a legend. In 1977, at the age of 20, Leonard won his first professional fight, setting the stage for a collection of the most memorable fights in history. He went on to defeat some of the finest boxers of the modern era including Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler. During his 20-year professional career, Leonard won six World Titles in five divisions -- welterweight, junior middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight -- a record that stands to this day. For this reason and more, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997 with a career record of 36 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw. I would choose to write about Hundreds Die in Battle in Iraq (Jan. 28): As many as 250 are killed near Najaf as American and Iraqi troops fight with a Shiite militia. An American helicopter is shot down in the battle.

The Video was AWESOME
It showed a lot of different people that are legions today. I liked the words that go along with the video.

The person I chose to talk about is Marlon Brando he was an actor with a lot of influence, he was born in 1924 and died in 2002. A few of His roles included the Godfather and Apocalypse Now.
Brando was named the fourth greatest male star of all time.

He was an activest including the American Civil Rights and also the American Indian Movement.

In his autobiography Songs My Mother Taught Me, Brando claimed he had an affair with Marilyn Monroe that lasted many years.

If this video was being made about the past year in history I believe the SAGO Mine Disaster on January 2, 2006 in Sago West Virginia near Buckhannon, Would be included in this Video. Due to the Fact that 13 men lost their lives. There was one survivor Randal McCoy Jr.
Since this tragedy new laws concerning mine safety have been put in place, for the safety of the people who work underground, that includes my dad.

Elvis Presley
I chose Elvis because he was the "KING OF ROCK." He was born on Jauary 8th, 1935. He died on August 16, 1977. He abused drugs and died because of it.
September 11, 2001.=(
I chose this date because it shocked and scared the daylights out of me when it happened. I was only 7 years of age when it happened and most of my family lives in New York. I believe that the war that is going on in Iraq is destroying the world and may result in another World War.

I love this song so much! It was awsome.I chose Martin Luther King Jr. because he is one of my heros.
I feel that if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be as blessed as I am now. He was a great person and I really do wish that he was still living because I would have so many questions I would want answered about his life. Martin Luther King Jr. was chosen for this video because he made a difference in the world. He changed alot of what goes on now. He showed usthat there was another way to things than just voilence and ignorance. He tried to give us another life than just not getting along.Martin was pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama from 1954-59. There he led blacks in the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955-56, an action inspired by the arrest of Rosa Parks when she refused to give up her seat on a public bus.

This video was good in some ways but then in my vision i think it could've been better if it would've provided a little more information on all of the people and events that it listed. But otherwise, the song went perfectly with the video and Billy Joel has an awesome voice for this kind of music.

I chose Marilyn Monroe, because she is well known but I don't really know anything about her.

Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. She is well known for being an American actress and her comedic skills. She became one of the most popular movie stars of the 1950s and the early 1960s.

Monroe's biggest hit was starred alongside Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot, ratede as one of the best films ever made.

Monroe's second marriage was to a man in the video "We Didn't Start the Fire" also, Joe DiMaggio.

On August 5, 1962, Marilyn was found dead in her home by her housekeeper. At age thirty-six, the death was a result of an overdose of sleeping pills. The official cause of her death was "probable suicide".

If this video was being made about the past year in history, I think Hannah Montana, J.K. Rowling, and September 11 would be included.

Hannah Montana is probably the most popular tween TV series. The kids think she is a good singer, actress, and funny. Almost all of my friends are sitting in front of the television whenever there is a new episode or there is just a repeat.

J.K. Rowling would probably be in it because she is the author of Harry Potter, one of the most popular book series across the world. She was on welfare with her two children until her first book was published and now she is filthy rich.

And last, but certainly not least, September 11. The tragedy that hurt the nation. There isn't one person in the U.S. who didn't mourn over the many lives lost in the World Trade Center that day. This date shall go down in history and be rememered forever.

I liked the song by BIlly Joel,it had a lot of good rythm, and i enjoyed seeing the events in a time line over the past 50 years.

In the song when it mentioned "Ho Chi Minh back again," i was like who in the world is that? I found out he was a Vietnamese revolutionary, who later became Prime Minister and President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam).

Ho is most famous for leading the Viet Minh independence movement from 1941 onward, establishing the communist-governed Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 and defeating the French Union in 1954 at Dien Bien Phu. He led the North Vietnamese in the Vietnam War until his death; six years later, the war ended with a North Vietnamese victory, and Vietnamese unification followed. The former capital of South Vietnam, Saigon, was renamed Ho Chi Minh City in his honor.

I think if the movie was up to date over the past year, it would include Saddam Hussein. Because on November 5, 2006, he was convicted of charges related to the executions of 148 Iraqi Shi'ites suspected of planning an assassination attempt against him, and was sentenced to death by hanging. Saddam was executed on December 30, 2006. He was a great reason why America went to war in Iraq and why our soldiers are still there in that country.

The video "We Didn't Start the Fire" was a very intresting video. I enjoyed the video a lot and I also liked the song! The words had a lot of meaning to them. The most intresting thing of the song was the numerous amount of people that were mentioned.
The historical person I picked was Martin Luther King Jr. he is a very important hero in my life because what he did for African Americans was very amazing. Because of what he did he is one of the biggest heroes in many African Americans' life.
Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. His grandfather began the family's long tenure as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, serving from 1914 to 1931; his father has served from then until the present, and from 1960 until his death Martin Luther acted as co-pastor. Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen. With a fellowship won at Crozer, he enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University, completing his residence for the doctorate in 1953 and receiving the degree in 1955. In Boston he met and married Coretta Scott, a young woman of uncommon intellectual and artistic attainments. Two sons and two daughters were born into the family.
If the video was "recreated" about the people in the present I think it would include Oprah Winfrey.Oprah is a good person to look up to and want to be like for many reasons.I chose her because she really enjoys giving to charity. She builds houses for the homeless and families that are less fourtunate than us. She also gives money to different charity clubs. Oprah has built schools around the world and even in the United States.

I love this song. It’s just so giddy and fun to listen to. The video is really good, too. I selected Wheel of Fortune (because I love it).
Wheel of Fortune is an American television game show devised by Merv Griffin, who also created Jeopardy!. Griffin based the US version on the original Australian version. Three contestants compete against each other to solve a word puzzle similar to those seen in the game Hangman. The name of the show comes from the large wheel that determines the dollar amounts and prizes won (or lost) by the contestants. The show debuted as a daytime program on NBC on January 6, 1975; the daytime version left the air in 1991. The nighttime version, which is syndicated by CBS Television Distribution (now King World), began on September 19, 1983. This version's 25th season began on September 10, 2007.
If I was to make this video I would include the forest fires in Montana, paris hilton, the iphone, the retirement of Bob Barker, Rosio Donal and Donald Trump’s fude, Virginia Tech school shooting, the opening of West Fairmont Middle School, the arrest and release of O.J. Simpson, Saddam Hussein was executedand he war in Iraq has entered its 5th year. I chose these people and events because they were all major things that happened that affected people in small and large ways. For example: the opening of WFMS only affected people around us that had a bound with the schools that closed, the new students coming from othersa schools, and more in comparsoin to Saddam Hussien execution which affected more people that you can imagine.
♥P.S. I like the song a bunch.

I liked Billy Joel’s song because it is a history lesson put to music. It is an up-tempo song that gets your attention. My mother also can remember when that song was popular.

The person I am choosing from the video is Joe DiMaggio. The reason I am choosing Joe DiMaggio is that I really like baseball and my favorite team, the Yankees, is the team he played for. I also chose him because my grandfather met him and played baseball with him at Pearl Harbor during World War II. I think he was included in the video because he was a great ball player. He also holds the record, at 56, for consecutive games in which he safely hit.

If this video were being made about the past year I think Barry Bonds, Hilary Clinton, the Virginia Tech shooting, Anna Nicole Smith, and Harry Potter would be included. Barry Bonds broke the Henry Aaron’s career homerun record to become the homerun king. Hilary Clinton is the first woman that has a good chance at becoming president. The Virginia Tech shooting was the worst campus shooting in history. The death of Anna Nicole Smith was in the news for months. Lastly, the final book of the Harry Potter series was available for purchase.

Billy Joel's song "We didnt start the fire" was a good song for the video. All the stuff in the video was important to the USA in the last 50 years. We didn't start the fire might mean that many of the important things in the past came from different places in the world.

I think the Billy Joel song and historical video from the past 50 years is my favorite so far. I think John F. Kennedy was chosen for this video because he was said to be the greatest president of all time. He is a person that is still well known to this day. His assassination was one of the most shocking public events of the 20th century. Most people probably don't know he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He commanded the patrol boat PT-109 and lead his crew to rescue after the boat was sunk by the Japanese in the Solomon Islands.

If this video was being made about the past year in history, Britney Spears would definately be in it. She has had so many problems. She has gotten divorced, been in rehab, charged with hit and run, and driving without a valid licence. She is even going to court over custody of her two sons. I also feel that Paris Hilton wouold be in the video. She spent time in jail for DUI. Her family owns the Hilton hotels, and they are worth millions. Also included would be Justin Timberlake. He is a pop singer. He has won Grammy Awards for best pop vocal album and best male pop vocal performance. He has also co-starred in two featured films. He even dated Britney Spears.

Hillary Clinton is a very strong woman who is married to President Bill Clinton. She was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000, becoming the first "First Lady" ever elected to national office. Some think she will run for president one day. She would be in this video for sure.

I like this song. I had no idea that our world was so confusing and harmful. The person I liked the most in the video was Marylyn Monroe. She is a very interesting person.
Marilyn Monroe personified Hollywood glamour with an unparalleled glow and energy that enamored the world. She dominated the age of movie stars to become, without question, the most famous woman of the 20th Century.
I have no idea who would be included in video if it was taped in the past years of history. I will take a guess though.
The Pope died in 2005 in history and that would most likely be part of the history.

I love this song, Billy Joel was trying to give a summary of what happened in the last 50 years in the world. JFK was used in the video probably because he was a major president and he was assasinated for no apparent reason. When JFK was assasinated, it was on video tape, and they think that the driver of JFK's limo was the one who shot him. I think people like Asoma benladen would be added to this video if it was more recent because the attack on the U.S. was a big deal, just like the assasination of JFK and other clips in this film.

I dont think much of the song but the video was good. A lot of bad things were happening at the time period. i would choose the Bay of Pigs invasion. The Bay of Pigs invasion was a U.S. supported invasion of Cuba to overhrow Fidel Castro. The Groups fighting were Cuban Rebels who didnt like Fidel, U.S. citizens also fought in this with the rebels. The cubans won the fight and this left the kennedy association so embarrased they thought they could forget it completely... they couldnt. They later found the body of Alabama National Guard Captain Thomas Willard Ray, who was shot down flying a B-26. In the 1990s, the CIA admitted to his links to the agency and awarded him their highest award, the Intelligence Star. If the video was made about the last year it would in clude the following: The illegal election of George Bush in 2000, George Bush illegaly invading Iraq, Global warming, Al Gore, 9/11, how George Bush messed up The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Alberto Gonzales firing eight Attorney Generals from different states for political game.

I absolutely 100% love the Billy Joel song in this video. Billy Joel RULES!

The song choice goes perfectly with the video. Also the title of the song definitely matches the world, situations that have gone on in it, and will continue too until who knows when. It's really amazing how life its self has changed over the past 50 years. From Elvis to modern day rapping, and Marilyn Monroe to Jennifer Anniston.

I think that this video was made for one reason. That reason would be that we didn't create all the problems in this world, better yet they just amplified as the world evolved. The title of the song, " We didn't start the fire," explains the world's condition perfectly.

I have decided to go with Doris Day as my selected person from the video. I chose her for a couple reasons. One reason I chose her is because she is pretty. Another reason is that she placed a huge spot in history.

One of America's most prolific actresses was born Doris Mary Ann Von Kapplehoff on April 3, 1924, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Like most little girls, Doris liked to dance. Doris married George Weidler, but this union lasted less than a year. Doris’s agent talked her into taking a screen test at Warner Bros. The executives there liked what they saw and signed her to a contract (her early credits are often confused with that of another actress named Doris Day, who appeared mainly in B westerns in the 1930s and 1940s). Her first starring movie role was as "Georgia Garrett" in Romance on the High Seas (1948). The next year, she made two more films, My Dream Is Yours (1949) and It's a Great Feeling (1949). She also had her own show called "The Doris Day Show." Today there is a Doris Day animal league.

If this video where to be made about the past, the people in it would definitely be different. I think that Kelly Clarckson, Brad Pitt, Zac Efron, and probably some R&B soul music people. These people seem to be some of the most admired and well-known people of the past year or so.

THE END!

have happened.

I picked John F. Kennedy because he was the 35th president of the US that was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. He was the youngest president ever elected and his death shocked the world. His death is still discussed today.

I think that some things in the past year that might be included are the war in Iraq, gasoline prices, George Bush, Barry Bonds, and Brittney Spears.

I really liked Billy Joel's song. It was up beat and the words were expressed well in the educational video. The video was good and was all based on the song. The historic person I have chosen from this video is Albert Einstein. I think he was selected for this video because he made major accomplishments in physics. His accomplishments have helped make present day physics possible. An anecdote of Albert Einstein is that he didn't do as well in school as most.
If this video was being made about the past year in history it would include the war in Iraq, Hilary Clinton, a women running for president, Barrack Obama, an African American running for president, Al Gore making people aware of global warming, Queen Elizabeth II, one of the most famous women in the world, Donald Trump, one of the most successful men in the world, Elizabeth Edwards, one who will not allow cancer to destroy her families dreams, Tony Dungy, the first African American coach to win the Super Bowl, and Oprah Winfrey, the lady many look up to and allow her opinions to direct their actions. I believe all of these people are influencing the future of our world. Overall, I liked this video and song.

"We Didn't Start the Fire" video by Billy Joel was very entertaining and educational. I really enjoyed watching it. However, I have never heard of this song before. As a matter of fact, I have never even heard of Billy Joel. I recognized quite a few people, but not nearly as many as I did from the last video. This video shows lots of famous people who did a lot of great things. I choose Elvis Presly because he is a classic and I enjoy his music and there are a lot of other people that feel the same way. An anectodote about his life was that he was a good ol' southern boy who owned as many as thirty - seven guns and shot at everything that irked him, including his televisions. If this video was being made from this past year Iraq and President Bush, Barry Bonds, Anna Nicole Smith,Brett Farve, Paris Hilton, Michael Vick and OJ Simpson would be included. I have always been a Billy Joel fan. I have liked this song from the first time I heard it. Joel is a great pianist. He usually doesn’t sing songs that are this serious. “We Didn’t Start the Fire” has a lot of historical meaning. I have heard it many times, but after watching this video it really made me understand his lyrics. The words have a strong meaning about how America has changed over the years. It also describes how history affects our lives today. America is a country that doesn’t start a war, but we do defend ourselves.

I think that Mickey Mantle is a very famous baseball player that has been an influence on a lot of people. He played 18 years for the New York Yankees. My great-grandfather, Tony Slate loved Mickey and the Yankees. I think that is why I like him today. An anecdote about him is that the sports writers called him “a true hick from Oklahoma.” He still holds the records on 12 pennant winners and 7 World Championship clubs. He also holds the records for most World Series home runs- (18). He was an amazing athlete. Many of today’s baseball stars use steroids and other drugs to make them better.

If this video was made today there would be a lot of events and people included. It would include: George W. Bush- our president, Saddam Hussian – was our enemy in Iraq , Al Gore- former Vice President and a person that tries to help our environment, Hillary Clinton- A woman running for President, Queen Elizabeth II- Top leader in the British Monarchy, Oprah Winfrey- Gives millions of dollars to needy people and causes, Arnold Schwarzenegger- Gov. of California, Bill Gates- inventor of Microsoft, Lance Armstrong- Tour de France winner 7 times. All of these people are famous and would be in the video for 2007.

Albert Einestien
I chose Albert Einstien because he seems to have had a very interesting life to have come up with the theory of relativity. (E=MC2) Not very many people knew that Albert Eistien warned Presidant Roosevelt of a potentially dangerous attack on the Us. It was said that the Germans were working on an atomic bomb. Eistien and his friend Leo Szilard then warned Presidant Roosevelt and in 5 years time the US came up with thier own atomic bomb. Which they used on Japanese cities. Eistien later regretted that letter Mr. Szilard and he wrote.

I would say the devastating tsunami that hit Asia would be included. It cost hundreds of lives.

This song is awesome a little out of date but still cool. The person from the video I’m going to research is Mickey Mantle. I chose Mickey Mantle because I love baseball and he is a wonderful hard-working baseball player. Mickey Charles Mantle was born on October 20, 1931 in Spavinaw, Oklahoma, but moved to Commerce just a few short years later. Named after Hall of Fame catcher Gordon "Mickey" Cochrane, Mickey was the oldest son of Elvin "Mutt" and Lovell Mantle. Mickey has three brothers: twins Ray & Roy and Butch, and a sister, Barbara. Mickey's father Mutt, a lead miner, was a big baseball fan and played semi-pro baseball himself. He passed his love of the game on to Mickey at an early age.
As soon as Mickey was old enough to swing a bat and throw a ball, Mickey's father Mutt and grandfather Charlie pitched to him everyday after school in front of a leaning tin barn by their house at 319 S. Quincy in Commerce, OK. (This is where Mickey lived until he was 14. The home and barn are going through a complete restoration to honor Mickey and the Mantle family.) Mutt, a righty, and Charlie, a lefty, taught Mickey to switch-hit by alternating pitching to him so that Mickey could learn to hit from both sides of the plate. The tin barn acted as a backstop. Mickey also developed tremendous strength working at the lead mines during the summers. One job in particular, that of "screen ape," was responsible for Mickey's incredibly strong wrists, shoulders, arms and forearms. A "screen ape" smashed large rocks into small stones with a sledgehammer. There were two "screen apes," one of whom smashed rocks until he couldn't hold the hammer any longer, and then rested while the other took his turn. The strength Mickey developed from this work and other farm chores later helped him to hit some of the longest home runs in the history of the game. If this video was being made a year ago I think that Barry Bonds would be in it because he broke the number of total homeruns of Hank Aaron.

I know that song but I never really "listened" to it before, but now that I did I know what the song is saying it is telling us so many good and bad things happen but it is not our fault.

The thing I chose was Woodstock because I didn’t know what it was. It turned out to be a large concert of various bands and artist of the late 1960's. Artist such as Jimi Hendrix, Mountain, The Who, Janis Joplin, and lots of other bands I never heard of. It was considered the end of the Hippie age and a roll in to the Arena Rock age. Many bands were asked to play and could not make it or just decided not to go they are, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and, The Beatles, due to the fact they would not preform together again.

I think that that song was awesome. I think it is one of the coolest songs I’ve ever heard. I don’t even know who Billy Joel is but I can already say that he has the best song. The song has a lot of important facts and has a cool beet and lyrics. Know I have that song playing in my head but at least it is a cool song.
The video taught me many things that I didn’t know about. This video was a good way to kids what has gone on the last 50 years but in a really and hip way. This video was a good way to inform students without giving us long boring lechers. It also showed kids that history can be fun and exciting, not just put you to sleep.
A historical event that really caught my eye was the one about South Korea because I’m part South Korean and I think I should know about this because I really don’t. Well, there was a war called the Korean War and it was between North and South Korea. There was an estimated amount of 3,000,000 people that died because of the war. That’s a lot of people. On the day of 25 June the North Korean army crossed South Korea and advanced towards the capital, Seoul. The sad thing is the city died in less than a week. Later the United Nations joined South Korea and China joined North Korea. The war finally ended in 1953 and about half the South Korean died.
I think this was selected because lots of lives were lost and this war propably meant a lot to many people. It took a couple of years to work and the problem and end the war.
If there was going to be a movie about the past years I think I would include the twin towers falling because it was a devistating thing that happened and many people died.

My selected person is Rosa Parks, although her name was not mentioned she was pictured at the beginning. She was most likely selected because she made a huge impact on the civil rights movement. This is more of fact than an anecdote, but when Rosa was arrested they wouldn't even let her get a drink from a fountain at the police station! That's crazy. If this were made about someone in the past year it would probably George Bush because everyone like to see the screw-ups of presidents

I really liked this song. I have heard it a lot of times before but never saw it done this way. I think the video is saying that every generation has its "fires." Each generation talks about the one before it and how different it is. People talk about the wars, the musical groups, politicians, etc. being so different but in reality, every generation is different but it is the same. I chose John F.Kennedy as my historical person because he was a good president and he was assignated on November 22, 1963. He was the youngest president ever elected. He avoided the threat of an atomic war with the Soviet Union. He promoted space flight and John Glenn Jr. orbited the earth when Kennedy was president.
President Kennedy was a war hero himself. He was badly injured when a Japanese destroyer cut his PT boat in two. He was known for his love of his family. His wife, Jackie, and his two children, Caroline and "John John" were always photographed with him. He was elected President of the U.S. in 1960 and his inaugural words are
still famous today as "Ask not what your country can do for you-ask what you can do for your country." His death was a great loss. If they made a video about this past year, Saddam Hussain would have to be included because he was associated with the World Trade Center attacks. His execution
brought closure to many people whose families were devistated.

Wow that was a really great song!!! I chose Elvis Presley. I think he was selected to be in this video because he was "The King" and, like all the things in this video, Presley was really popular at one time.
Elvis in the Hotseat?

Elvis, whose weight ballooned toward the end of his life, once found himself in a difficult situation in the early stages of a sold-out concert. Before leaving the stage, he explained the problem (over the course of nearly half an hour) to his bemused audience.
The problem? He had split the seat of his jumpsuit and would have to find a replacement before resuming the show.
I think if this video were being made about this past year's history i think Rihanna, i-pods, i-phones, Hannah Montana, and a lot of other people and things would be inclused in it because these were all things that were really popular this year.

I would include Nicole Ritchie, Lindsey Lohan, and Paris Hilton because they can't seem to stay out of the news. If its not anorexia, it's drugs and alcohol.

"We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel is awesome! I loved it. I thought the video was the best one we have seen so far. It is very much like a rap so, it is easy for us to relate to. It reminds me of the Ron Clark Movie and if you have ever seen it you will know what I am talking about and for the ones reading this that haven't seen it, I will fill you in. In the Ron Clark story he makes up a rap about the presidents to educate the students which is a lot like this video. It is music and eas to listen to, but you still learn a lot. The historical person I have selected from the video is Martin Luther King Jr. He has been an inspiration to many people. He had a dream and followed it. However, for as many fans as he had he had just as many enemies. Martin Luther King, Jr faced hundreds of death threats. His home was bombed, with his wife and kids inside. He was hounded by Hoover's FBI, which bugged his home and hotel rooms, and spread gossip about him and even tried to get him to commit suicide after he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. Martin Luther King Jr. has definitely left his mark on this world. If this video were to be made about the past year in history. I would include Oprah because they wanted her to run for President. Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan for the rich girls gone bad part of the video. I would, also, like to see a tribute to those that we have lost in Iraq. The war never seems like it is going to end. Finally, I think I would put Anna Nicole Smith on the video because she has also had a lot of impact on people and their opinions for whatever reason.

What this video meant to me was that we did not start the fire (troubles, Events). It also meant that some events happen because of other events. It also stated some of the events that had happened in the last couple years. Some of the events were good and some were bad.

I picked the sputnik. I picked it because I thought that it was a cool event that had happened in history. It might have put down the US (In the race) but it was interesting how they got the satellite up in space and, to see the race between the USSR and the US. This satellite was put in to space on Oct. 4,1957(It was big leap for space technology). After that happened the US started training many, many more engineers. Some people were even scared of the satellite.

If they added what had happened in the last years they would have added the twin towers, the war in Iraq. Bush elected again. These events because they were major events in history. (And may be the gas because of its prices.) There are a couple of more but those were the things that popped to mind.

The video "We Didn't Start the Fire" is telling that we are not the ones that started all the craziness in the world. It was stared by people generations and generations ago, and even people before them. I loved the song. I knew it before I saw this video, but I love to hear it still.

Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin was a man trying to bring the world to peace and equality. He was one of the main leaders in the American civil rights movement.
This is the story of his death.

On April 3, King returned to Memphis and addressed a rally, delivering his "I've been to the Mountaintop" address.

He was in room 306 at the Lorraine Motel, owned by Walter Bailey, in Memphis. Reverend Ralph Abernathy, King's close friend and colleague who was present at the assassination, swore under oath to the HSCA that King and his entourage stayed at room 306 at the Lorraine Motel so often it was known as the, 'King-Abernathy suite.

While Martin Luther King standing on the motel's 2nd floor balcony,Martin Luther King was shot at 6:01 p.m. April 4, 1968.

If this video was being made this year, George Bush would be put inthis video. He would be in the video because he declared war on Iraq. That is changing America in a big way. He is keep the "fire" going.

The Billy Joel song created a mental picture of the world’s history during a 50 year period. By saying the names of political figures, momentous events, and pop culture icons, the viewer takes a tour through 50 years of history in a 4 minute song. The song makes you listen and retain information better. The video contained a lot of important events and gave you a visual image to put with the music that made the song more real. Overall, I really liked the video.
John F. Kennedy was chosen to be in the video because he was a memorable United States president. As president, he set out to get America moving again and improved the U.S. economy for the first time after World War II. John F. Kennedy had a strong influence on the people who lived during the time of the song. Kennedy was also an important figure when it came to human and equal rights. When people think of those years, John F. Kennedy would be one of the first people they would think when looking back.

Anecdote -
While visiting Berlin one day, President Kennedy addressed a crowd of enthusiastic Germans at the Berlin Wall. "All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin. And therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words, 'Ich bin ein Berliner!'" he declared. The supposed translation? "I am a jelly donut!" I think he wanted to say “I am a Berliner” in German.

For the year 2007, some of the things that would be included in the video would be: war continues in Afghanistan and Iraq, 2008 presidential candidates begin to campaign, Indianapolis Colts win super bowl, Scientists confirm Global Warming, Drew Gilpin Faust is named Harvard’s first female president, David Beckham comes to play soccer in U.S., Brittany Spears come-back flops, Last Harry Potter book is published, Minneapolis Bridge collapse, E-coli Outbreaks, Toy Recalls, General Motors Strike, fear of China having nuclear weapons, OJ Simpson is arrested again, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran visits U.S amid much controversy, Iphone is released, Anna Nicole Smith, Lady Bird Johnson and Luciano Pavoratti died.

I included the people and events that had an important or news-making impact on the world in 2007. When people look back on 2007, these are the events or people that will most likely be thought of when thinking about this year in review.

I really enjoyed watching this video. Billy Joel’s song was great and it helped keep the video interesting. I liked how everything the song said there was a picture or event showing it. I think that everyone shown in the video was an important part of America’s history in the past 50 years. I chose John Fitzgerald Kennedy also known as J.F.K. He was an important part of history for many reasons. John Fitzgerald Kennedy (May 29, 1917–November 22, 1963), was the thirty-fifth President of the United States, serving from 1961 until his assassination in 1963. He is, to date, the only practicing Roman Catholic to be elected President. His administration witnessed the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the building of the Berlin Wall, the Space Race, the American Civil Rights Movement and early events of the Vietnam War. He was the youngest president to be elected in the USA. Many regard President Kennedy as an icon of American hopes and aspirations; he continues to rank highly in public opinion ratings of former U.S. presidents. He is also known for his affair with Marilyn Monroe.
I think if this video was made this year it would include a lot of interesting things, Nancy Pelosi becoming the first female speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the death of Anna Nicole Smith, Saddam Hussein’s hanging, Don Imus and his Rutger’s comment, the Virginia Tech massacre, Britney Spears going crazy, Hilary Clinton, David Beckham moving to the US, Michael Vick for the whole dog fighting incident, and Paris Hilton going to jail. Some of these people aren’t that important, but they are in the newspaper everyday.

I picked Albert einstien he was on here because he was a great scientist.ALBERT Einstein was three or four years old before he could speak and seven before he could read, and slouched his way through school. He also had some trouble remembering his address -
Later he saw that light travels as both a wave and as particles called quanta, mostly because it has to . . . And Einstein also got rid of the ether as a valid concept of physics. and he went on to find that Light had mass, and space and time were simply space-time - and and the universe might be shaped like a saddle.

I think his song makes a good point. All the people in the movie didn't "start the fire". All the stuff going on in the world started before they were born.

Martin Luther was chosen because he plays a big part in why we have integration the way we do now. With out him, we really wouldn't be the way we are.

Martin Luther Ancedote:
The event which radically changed the course of Luther's life took place near Stotterheim on July 2, 1505. The happy go lucky law student was altered into a humble monk searching for God's grace.
Luther had recently completed a Master's degree and started his law studies at the University of Erfurt. He was on his way back to Erfurt after having visited his parents when he was caught in a terrible thunder storm a few hours outside of Erfurt. Lightening struck near him and he was thrown to the ground by the air pressure it created. At this moment he called to Saint Anne: "I will become a monk!"
Luther commented on this event later. It is assumed that he had played with the idea of becoming a monk even before the storm hit.
To his fathers disgust and anger, Luther honored his solemn promise; he had one last party with university friends on July 16 and the next day he entered the Black Monestary in Erfurt to become a monk.

I really don't know. I've never really thought about it, and now that I have to, I can't really think of anyone.

I really enjoyed this video, and I have the song memorized. This video has a really good point, “We didn’t start the fire…It was always burnin’ since the worlds been turnin’…We didn’t start the fire…but we did ignite it when we tried to fight it”.

The people mentioned in this song have either changed our world or made some kind of influence on people’s lives. Albert Einstein was mentioned in this song also because of his theories. Albert Einstein was often asked to explain the general theory of relativity. "Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour," he once declared. "Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity!"

If I made a video about this past year in history I would included the president, music artists, actors, and inventors. I believe that they are important in our history.

The video "We Didn't Start the Fire" is the best one we have seen yet. The medicine Thalidomide was supposed to be a "miracle" drug for pregnant women that "cured" everything. Then, after some of the babies were born without arms and/or legs they figured out that the meds did more harm than good.
If I were to make this video today, I would include George W. Bush, Rosie O'Donald and Donald Trump because they have caused alot of constversy over the past year or two.

“We Didn’t Start the Fire” a song that was written and recorded by Billy Joel. This song is an amazing musical history lesson, which credits various elements of Mr. Joel’s genius. Billy Joel is also known as “The Piano Man” a name he earned after releasing an album in 1973 named the Piano Man.
I decided to research Rocky Marciano, because I did not know who he was. He was born Rocco Francis Marchegiano, an Itialian-American born in Brockton, Massachuttes. He was the heavyweight champion of the world from 1952 to 1956. Marciano had forty-three knockouts during his carreer (an 88% knockout rate) He remains the only heavyweight champion in boxing history to retire without a defeat or a draw in his professional career.
If this song were going to include events from 2007, I think it would include Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who are both running for president. The song would most likely include Anna Nicol Smith due to her tragic un-timely death. Astronaut Lisa Marie Nowak and her diapers! I am sure that Afghanistan and Iraq would be mentioned along with President George W. Bush. I wonder if Billy Joel has ever thought about writing a new version of this song. It would be quite interesting to see what he would include now.

Malcolm X was selected because he was a leader in the civil rights movement. Malcolm X is also known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska. His family reloctated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin because his mother was threatened when she was still pregnant with him. Hen wrote many books on racism. He had been arrested and had a hard yet successful life. Malcolm was assonated by a member of the Islam Seventh Table. If the video were made in the past year, I think Hillary Clinton would be in it because she is the leading candidate in for the democratic nomination.

I thought that the song was AWESOME!!!!

The video was really cool to watch cause it has cool music and is neat to see people from the past.

I picked Ronald Reagan cause he was our 40th president in 1981-1989.

Ronald Reagan died at his home in Bel-Air, California, at 1:00 PM on June 5, 2004. He died of Alzheimer's Disease at 93 years of age.

In the past year I think that the Sago Mine Disaster should be in that video cause it was a big scare to the US.

I liked the Billy Joel song. It was very catchy. It was cool seeing all the famous people throughout the last 50 years. John F. Kennedy was selected because he was a president.

Amateur Photographer?

Senator Barry Goldwater, a talented amateur photographer, once took a picture of President John F. Kennedy and sent it to him requesting that he send it back with an autograph.
Kennedy complied, returning it with this inscription: "For Barry Goldwater, whom I urge to follow the career for which he has shown so much talent - photography. From his friend, John Kennedy."

If this video were made this year, George Bush would be included because he is the President of the United States.

The video was still interesting and educational, but sill fun. This was my favorite video so far. I know I said that last time lol. I chose John F. Kennedy for this video because he was said to be the greatest president of all time. When he died it was one of the most shocking public events of the 20th century. I think that if we were to make a video in 2007 Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton and Katrina, would be in it because of rehab, jail, and just a tragedy in thw world.

I really like this video and the song. I picked Mickey Mantle because he was a great baseball player. He was an American baseball player that was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1974. He played for the New York Yankees his entire 18 year career. He won 3 American League MVP titles. Mickey played for 16 all-star teams. He played on 12 pennant winning and 7 World Championship teams. He still holds the record for most World Series homeruns (18), RBI’s (40), runs (42), walks (43), extra base hits (26), and most total bases (123). So clearly Mickey Mantle is one of the best baseball players ever.

In the past year I think that Barry Bonds would be included because he broke the record for most homeruns. Also George W. Bush should be in it to just for being the president.

Martin Luther King Jr. could be seen in this video giving his "I have a dream" speech. I think he was selected to be in the video because he played a big role in trying to solve the race problems of the early 1960's. The video showed a lot of fighting and war and Dr. King was seen fighting for peace.

If this video were being made today, I think the people running for president would definately be in it. There is a black man who is a Mormon, a white woman who was the First Lady and a guy who was a prisoner of war. I think this is an interesting group of people to represent our country.

I thought this song was a great way to educate us about the biggest people and events in the past 50 years. He didn’t have to use a lot of words to tell the story. The images and the graphics together provided the story.

Elvis Presley was “the king of rock and roll” in the late 1950’s. I picked Elvis because he is a legend, and there is a lot to learn about him. Elvis revolutionized popular music during his career. He also influenced many other musicians who followed him. His unique style made him both popular and controversial.

In the past year I think that the video would have included

1.War in Iraq
2.President Bush
3.Jena 6
4.Virginia Tech.
5.David Beckham Coming to America
6.Global Warming
7.Paris Hilton Going to Jail

I loved the song "We Didn't Start The Fire" by Billy Joel !! It was in a fast pase and covered 50 years of history.

I selected Marilyn Manroe because she is a popular actress in the 1950's.

Anecdote :
Marilyn Bimboe

Notwithstanding conventional wisdom, Marilyn Monroe was a terrible actress. One scene in Billy Wilder's Some Like It Hot called for her to knock on a door, enter a room, and ask for a shot of bourbon from a bottle in a dresser drawer. Simple though it seemed, the proper wording and nuance of the line eluded her:
"On the fifty-third take," Wilder later recalled, "I told her we had put the line on pieces of paper and they were in every drawer she would open... She went to the wrong piece of furniture."

The race for presidency with the possible first woman or black president.

I chose the Beatles because they are my whole famliy loves them. The Beatles consisted of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison, which later became one of the best bands in music history. The band's last performance was on Janurary 30, 1969 on top of Apple Building in Savile Row, London.

I think that Maddie McCann, Chris Benoit, and 9-11. Those three were all on the news for along time, and all three devastating.

I heard this song before and it interested me as I tried to listen very carefully to every word. I wanted to listen because I wanted to know what had happened in those days. I understood and have heard about most of these except for the Suez crisis which is why im writing about it. The Suez crisis was basically a military attack on Egypt by Britain, France, and Israel beginning on 29 October 1956. The attack followed Egypt's decision of 26 July 1956 to nationalize the Suez Canal after the withdrawal of an offer by Britain and the United States to fund the building of the Aswan Dam. Eden’s resignation marked, until the Falklands War, the last significant attempt Britain made to impose its military will abroad without U.S. support. However, Nigel Ashton argues "that British strategy in the region changed very little in the wake of Suez." Harold Macmillan was every bit as determined as Eden had been to stop Nasser, although he was more willing to enlist American support in the future for that end. Some argue that the crisis also marked the final transfer of power to the new superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union. That was a little about the aftermath of this crisis. I think that Katrina would be included because of the devastation, the president, and most especially the war in Iraq.

I like the Billy Joel song because I like the tune and it shows a lot of people and events that were important to the world. One of the people in the video “We Didn’t Start The Fire” showed Elvis Presley. He is not an historic person like Lenin. He was important though in the way that he changed popular culture and music. When he first started to be heard on the radio and on records, many people thought that he was “black,” because he sang a certain way. He was considered good-looking at that time. The girls liked him because he sang and danced and moved different from any of the popular singers of that day. He changed how music was performed in the 1950’s. Male singers started dressing like Elvis and even combing their hair like him. Events that should be included in the song are the Katrina Hurricane, the Sago Mine disaster, the India tsunami, the upcoming elections, the war in Iraq, death of Don Knotts and James Brown, Virginia Tech shooting, etc.

I liked Billy Joel’s song “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. It really fit into the movie that we watched.

Elvis Presley was selected because it this time he was a famous rock star known as “the King”.

Elvis Presley was born in a two bed room house that his father built. He was the second of identical twins. His brother was stillborn meaning didn’t make it through the birth. His brother was named Jesse Garon.

At school Presley was teased. His classmate through rotten fruit and stuff at him, because he was different. He was quiet and he stuttered.

At the age of ten he made his first public performance. Dressed as a cowboy, Presley had to stand on a chair to reach the microphone and he sang Red Foley’s “Old Shep”. He won second place.

The that I would put in this video if it was renewed would be Barry Bonds. He broke the homerun record. They claim he was using performance enhancers.

The person I chose was Rosa Parks because she was a huge part of the civil rights movement in many ways. She stood up for what was right and didn’t care what happened; all she cared about was justice for the future. If the movie was made in the last year in history I think hurricane Katrina would be in it. Hurricane Katrina devastated many lives and killed many innocent people displacing many families.

I watched this video 3 times, because of the music. The video showed that a lot of people and different things happened in 50 years that made the world what it is today.

I chose Pope John Paul II.Pope John Paul II may be the only Pope whose life was portrayed in a comic book. In 1983, Marvel Comics published a Pope biography. At age 75, Pope John Paul II did survive numerous accidents and an assassination attempt. As a young man during the German occupation of Poland, he was hospitalized twice, after accidents involving a streetcar and a German army truck.

If I had to chose something that happend this year I would say the Iraq War. I know it started a while ago but it is still impacting many peoples lives today.

The Billy Joel song was a perfect fit for this video and I believe that it was a great video. I believe that the past 50 years in this world has been very strange and many weird things have happened. I believe that all of the strange things have been because of how many people there are that believe in different things, and that has helped us realize what is right and wrong in the world. The historical person that I thought was interesting was Elvis. I believe that he was selected not due to his popularity, but due to him putting the rock'n'roll scene on the map. I chose this quote by Elvis for the simple fact that many people criticized the way that he moved on stage so I thought that was a very interesting question and it shocked me people would ask him about that. So here's his quote-“Some people tap their feet, some people snap their fingers, and some people sway back and forth. I just sorta do ‘em all together, I guess.” If this video would have been made in the past year President Bush would have been included. i believe this is so because of all the things that he has done ecspecially to hurt this country that he would be a main figure that would add to the "fire".

I love that song."We Didn't Start the Fire" is a song by Billy Joel that references a catalog of headline events during his lifetime, from March 1949 to 1989, when the song was released on his album Storm Front. The events are mixed with a refrain asserting "we didn't start the fire". The song was a number-one hit in the U.S.

The song and video have been interpreted as a rebuttal to criticism of Joel's Baby Boomer generation, from both its preceding and succeeding generations, that they were responsible for much of the world's problems. The song's title and refrain imply that the frenzied and troubled state which others were criticizing had been the state of the world since long before his generation's time, but that this was (perhaps wilfully) being ignored by their critics.
Joel explained that he wrote this song due to his interest in history; he commented that he would have wanted to be a history teacher had he not become a rock and roll singer. Unlike most of Joel's songs, the lyrics were written before the melody, owing to the somewhat unusual style of the song. Nevertheless, the song was a huge commercial success and provided Billy Joel with his third, and final Billboard #1 hit.

'We Didn't Start the Fire' was written by Joel after a conversation with John Lennon's son Sean (as confirmed by the jacket of Piano Man: The Very Best of Billy Joel). Sean was complaining that he was growing up in troubled times.

Although the song ranked #1 in the U.S., and #7 in the UK, Blender magazine ranked "We Didn't Start the Fire" #44 on its list of the 50 worst songs ever. "We Didn't Start the Fire" also appeared in the same spot on VH1's 50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever, a collaboration with Blender in 2004
That is the history on "We Didn't Start the Fire."

From all of the people in the video, I would have to choose Princess Grace. My Mom said that she remembered her. I think it is sad that she died, though.I think they selected her because she was an american actress married into a family from Monaco.
I think that the Iraqi war would be in the movie if they made it last year because it is the one thing that you see anywhere you look up the headlines.

It took a lot of courage for her, being a woman, to stand up to a group of people and express her beliefs that would help thousands of people in the future.

I think that the song is perfect for this video. The title of the song "We Didn't Start the Fire", goes great with the situations that has happened around the world in the past 50 years. It pretty interesting how much things have changed. For instance, Elvis Presley was the music people listened to then, and now WVAQ and the kind of music most people listen to.

I chose Marilyn Monroe as my historical person. I think she was put into this video, because she was a very person in the past, and now, even in the present, she is still very famous!

Marilyn Monroe was a Golden Globe award winning American actress, and model. She was known for her comedic skills and screen presence and became one of the most popular movie stars of the 1950s and early 1960s.

I like this song by Billy Joel because it had a good beat to it. I like this video of “We didn’t Start The Fire” because a lot of this stuff I didn’t get to see growing up back in the 50’s because I wouldn’t be born for another 40 years. I chose Elvis Aaron Presley because he started Rock N’ Roll and his middle name is my first name. I think he was selected because he started Rock N’ Roll like I mentioned before and his signature move was the pelvis swing. Here is my anecdote for Elvis Aaron Presley.
Elvis Presley was an enthusiast for cars, as you would expect an American hero to be. Cadillacs, mainly: he owned about 100 during his lifetime. But in the 1970s, the talk among car buffs was of a sleek Italian-made sports car called the Pantera (Panther in English) and Presley bought one. One day when he fancied a spin, the car would not start. Presley took out a gun and shot it, twice or possibly three times.
