Sleep Deprivation in Teens

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/teenbrain/view/5_hi.html

Please watch the PBS video on the sleep patterns of teens. What did you learn from this short video? What is the videographers's message. If this scientific research is correct, when should you go to bed each evening? What are the implications of sleep deprivation? How could this improve your school performance? Could this improve your athletic abilities?

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video said that most teens usually get about 7 hours of sleep, but shouldn't you get 8 hours or more. Does 1 hour make that big of a difference? I know that I don't get much sleep; I am always tired when I go to school. I get about 6 hour of sleep on school days and about 10-12 hours on a weekend. I think the person that made this video point was to get enough sleep so you’re not practically dead when you wake up. Usually teachers can tell when you get enough sleep or not by your actions, mood, grades, or maybe you keep yawning. [: Usually when I exercise it gets me up and then I feel a lot better. I'll try to get enough sleep so I feel good on Monday. Paitan Twigg 7th period

The "Sleep Deprivation In Teens' video showed me how we need our sleep. It said that most teenagers usually get 7 hours of sleep but in my opinion we should get about nine. It probably doesn't seem like a big difference but getting more sleep could help us be less tired during the day. I think the videographers point to making this video was to get enough sleep so that you can be awake the next day and so you won't get into trouble because you're grouchy. Implications of sleep deprevation are your moods your actions, and your apearance. It can improve your school performance by keeping you up and alert so you can get your work done and get better grades. It can improve your athletic abilities by being able to pay attention to the game and not getting smacked in the head with a basketball. (: Also, you won't be weary when you have to stand up and play you will be "alive". Gabby Tenney 7th period

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video showed us that we get two hours less of sleep than we should usually get. I know that I go to sleep at 12:00 or 12:30 on school days and get 6 hours of sleep on weekends I usually wake up at noon or 1 in the afternoon. I think that 9 1/4 of an hour to sleep or more would affect how you do as an athlete and in school. If I get more sleep than I usually get I would do a lot better in a lot of different things. It would be better for you to have more sleep tan less sleep. I am going to try to get 9 1/4 of an hour of sleep from now on. I think the point that the videographer was trying to show us how bad our habits are in sleep methods. I think that we would do a lot better as athletes and in school with more rest.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video was interesting and it made me think. I am always tired in the mornings and I know that I don't get 9 1/4 hours of sleep. I think it would be a good idea to try changing the time school begins. Right now, I think I should try to get some more sleep.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video showed that we do not get enough sleep at night.
That More Sleep helps you do better academically and athletically.
Also that I would be more alert and receptive to what is being taught with at least 9 hours of sleep a night.
The videographer's message is that teens are deprived of sleep, and lack in school.
If the scientific research is correct I should go to bed at least by 9:30, which would be hard for me.
I'm usually in bed by 10:00-10:30.
The implications of not having enough sleep is that you are tired during the day, and instead of focusing on what is being taught you are tired and drowsy, Yet this could be improved by going to bed earlier and having a good night sleep.
Athletically I know I feel better at basketball games and practices when I got to bed earlier.

The "Sleep Despirvation in Teens" video showed me that most teens dont get enough sleep each night. Teens only get about 7 hours of sleep, but we should get 8 hours or more. We come to school very tired and that can effect our grades and our actions. The videographer is showing us that the 1 hour we are missing can effect our day and the way we live. If this scientific research is correct, teens should go to bed at bout 9:00pm. Most of teen wake up at about 6:00am for school. That should give us about 8 hours or more to sleep before waking up. This can improve our school experiences, because if we are more awake at school we can be more aware of what is being taught to us. This will improve our grades and higher our expectations in class. It can also improve our athletic abilities because our bodies will be ready to become active if we are not tired and sleepy.

In this video I learned a lot about getting enough sleep. If you don’t get enough sleep then your body is to tired to do anything else. When I get up in the morning I’m usually tiered and don’t feel life getting out of bed. The point in this video was to tell us was that it is important to get enough hours of sleep. People should get about eight to nine hours of sleep each night. If you have to get up early, say around six, then you would probably would want to go to bed around eight or nine pm.
What this could do for your school is by getting enough sleep could improve your schools scores, attendance, and the students will be more active in class. Getting enough sleep can also improve your athletics by being more alert and aware. The side effects of not getting enough sleep could make you fall asleep in class and become sick because your immune system is not getting its rest. Katie Nestor 7th period

I think that the video on sleeping is the truth! I totally agree with the video and the things that it had to offer.I myself don't get enough sleep on the weeknights.Since I wake up at 5:30 I should go to bed at 8:15 but going to sleep that earlier is just impossible for me to do!I am going to start going to bed earlier than I do only because I start to fall asleep in some of my classes.I need a lot of rest improve in the sports that I do and I will do anything to improve in Basketball and Track!

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens"video said most teenagers a falling asleep in class because of getting 7 or less hours of sleep.
Myself I go to bed at 11:00 no later and i've been kind of sleepy in class. The video said that you should at the least get 8 or more hours of sleep each night.I think the purrpose of this video is that it might be cool to stay up later but it's not good for your health. So now i will try to go to bed a little early so i can be energized for the week!

I learned that sleep is VERY improtant. If you get more sleep you can get better grades. The video said that teens usually get around 7 to 7 1/2 hours of sleep a night when we are supposed to get 9 or more hours a night. The vidoegrapher's message was to get more sleep so you can do better not only in school but in all around life.

I go to bed at 8:30 on school nights and I think that is a good time to. But sometimes I go to bed and lay there for a couple hours in bed before falling asleep. I think it is because of stress. Stress from school and home.

I still think if I just forgot about school when I was trying to sleep, then maybe I would get more sleep and wouldn't be so tired at school. Maybe I ould grow an inch too! :D I think more sleep would improve my athletics. But even when I am tired I still try to get a lot of exercise. My Health teacher, Mrs. Beafore, told us that the more exercise you get the better you feel.

I think the video wanted teens to think about their bedtimes so that they could be more awake in scool, but (this might just be because I LOVE to sleep)I don't think a couple of hours matters that much if you make it up on weekends. I mean, if your sleepy one day and you go to sleep early the next day then you will be fine. I know I am always tired for the first couple minutes, but about five or so minutes after homeroom, I am woken up by all the things people start telling me.I think it would be a good idea for our school to start a little later, maybe around nine o'clock. I do agree with the video about the R.E.M. sleep. It is the most important time of a person's life and if you study right before you go to bed, it is proven that you will remember more of what you just read than studying in the morning.

I think the videographer's message was that without enough sleep, you can't think clearly, you cannot stay awake to listen in school, and that everyone should get the right amount of sleep every night.Teens usually don't get enough sleep because of new technology. We have TV, computers, video games, and MySpace. Teens probably stay up later so they can do these things. I go to bed at a time to where i can get enough sleep so this could not really improve my school performance or my athletic ability.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video taught me that teenagers don't get as much sleep as they should. Sleep deprivation affects students' learning abilities. Students are not as alert in class. I think the videographer's purpose of making this video is to teach kids that they need to get all the sleep they can get because it can affect their performance in school. If you get up at 5:30am every morning you shoud go to bed around 9:30pm. If you do not get enough sleep it can hurt your school performance. If you get enough sleep than you will be more awake and can learn better. It could also help you in sports because you won't be as tired.

The video "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" said and explained that most teens only get about seven hours of sleep, but on average, you should get eight hours or more.
When you actually stop and think about it, teens really don't get enough sleep because they are usually too busy with extracurricular activities, so they wait until the last minute to do their homework, which causes them to be up all night doing assignments, and/or studying. Therefore the next morning they won't want to wake up, then may be late for school. Also, going to bed late could result in falling asleep in your classes.
Getting enough rest at night has many atvantages. If you go to sleep earlier, the next day you will have more energy than you would on days you stay up late. You will also be more aware of things that happen around you , and also you'll be able to retain more information.
So in conclusion, the more rest you get at night and the earlier you go to bed at night, the better. When you get enough sleep, it helps you stay on top of things easier and it could really change the way you feel the next day.

The "Sleep Deprivation Video" was very interesing. It showed the we really don't get that much sleep. It said that all teenagers should get about 7 hours asleep. In my opoion we should get about 16 hours of sleep :D. I know we can't, but if you research about t, it says that we should get bout 9. It would really help us in school because we could think alot better in the mornigs. We would alos do alot better in our after school activities or sports. It could honestly help us alot. Like if we would have a test in the morning we might we might not think as good a s we would in the afternoon because we are awake. SO we might not do as good. Usually when I go to school I am really tired and don't want to talk or anything. So I need tobe pumped up and ready for school and go to sleep early. The "Sleep Deprivation video showed us alot of facts but in my opion I don't think it is right.

In this video I learned that most teenagers are only getting 7 hours of sleep. When they should be getting 9 or more. Teenagers normally don't get enough sleep because there is something on there mind or they just can't sleep. Teens need to start going top bed earlier because getting lack of sleep has effect on your school work. It could also improve your athletic abilities. Thats because in order to do good you have to have energy and if you lack sleep then you also lack athletic ability.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video shows us that most teens don't get as much sleep as they're supposed to. I learned that just a little bit more of sleep each night can help you do better in school or other activities. If you get up at 6:30 AM, then you should probably go to bed at about 9:00-9:30 PM. That's about 9-9 1/2 hours of sleep each night. If you go to bed at the right time then you would do so much better in school, because you won't feel tired and your brain will be functioning correctly. Getting the right amount of sleep each night could improve your athletic abilities because you would feel like getting up and moving around and you wouldn't feel so sluggish.

I learned in this video about teen sleep patterens is that most kids are getting only 7 1/2 hours of sleep a night. We as young teens need 9 1/4 hours of sleep every night. The message of this video is to tell us that if we do not get the required sleep we will have an empty tank. This means we will not be able to function properly in school. It will effect our mood, thinking, and even how we perform in our after school activities. If you are tired it will make it hard for you to play a sport like soccer, football, or cheerleading. You need to be alert to perform well. The more sleep we get the better we can do in school, on tests and in our after school activities. Sleep is very important for learning and remembering. If you get up at 6:00 in the morning, you should go to sleep at 8:45 to get the required sleep needed. On days there is no school it is important to sleep in. If we do not follow these tips we will be sleep deprived.

I learned that sleeping is very important because it makes you more alert about things around you. Sleeping is also important because when you sleep your body develops.I think the videographer's message was to tell all teens out there that they need sleep in order to success in school and sports.

If the research is true,I would probably go to bed at about nine. That way I would get about nine and a half hours of sleep if I got up at six thirty. The implications of sleep deprivation can be very harmful. Sleep deprivation can mess with your school education and other very important decisions and goals in life. Not getting enough sleep doesn't allow your mind to remember info like a person who gets alot of sleeping time every night.

Lots of sleep can really improve your school performance. It can help you to remember the facts you studied the night before your big test or what the teacher said about the big test you have tomorrow. Getting lots of sleep makes your mind process information faster than people who don't get enough sleep.

Like I said earlier getting more sleep makes you more alert.
Being more alert can improve your athletic abilities. You need lots of sleep to be able to have the energy to run and concentrate for athletic activities.

I learned that you should get as much sleep as you can cause it will affect your life a lot. The videographer’s message is to tell us how important sleeping really is. If this research is correct I should go to bed around 9:00PM to get at least nine hours of sleep. The cause of sleep deprivation is doing badly in school, not listening to your parents, and not obeying rules in your house, school, or just any way you go. It will improve you at school bye helping you pay attention to the teacher better, it will help you do better on test and work at school, and it will help you remember better too. Sleeping better will help you from not being tired at games and also help you from even skipping games because you were so tired.

In this video I learned that when you're asleep you go over what you have learned while you were awake. The videographer's message is that teens do better academically the more sleep they have. If this scientific research is correct that means an average teen needs 9hrs.15min. of sleep, which means I would need to go to bed at 9:15P.M. so I could get up at 6:30A.M. One implication of sleep deprivation is that your grades suffer. Getting enough rest lets you think in your sleep so you can improve your school work. I think this could also improve your athletic ability because you would run plays and how to do things in your mind as you're sleeping.

I learned that sleep deprivation affects you in many ways, and is unhealthy. I also learned that I need about 9 ¼ hours of sleep, which is a lot more than I get now. Falling asleep in class, feeling drowsy, sleeping late in the day, and going to sleep late at night are all examples of sleep deprivation. The videographer’s message seems to be saying that without sleep teens and other people seem less aware of what is going on around them and having less sleep affects your physical health and maybe even mental/emotional health. I get un in the morning around 6:30am so I should go to bed about 9:15pm to get my 9 ¼ hours of sleep. The implications of sleep deprivation are sleeping in class and being less aware of what is going on around you. Its can also make your grades slip and more serious things out of the class. Getting enough sleep and avoiding sleep deprivation can help your school grades rise and also help you achieve more school goals. Yes, it could improve your athletic abilities in numerous ways. For example, you could have quicker reflexes, an improvement in hand-eye-coordination, and help you reach your goal of winning.

I learned that I am not getting enough sleep! But, I also learned that in order to do well in school, sports, and extra activities you need a certain amount of sleep. The required amount of sleep is 9 1/4 hours. Most teenagers only get about 7 1/2 hours of sleep so they are sleepy early in the morning.

I think the videographer's message is to inform all teens that aren't getting enough sleep at night that that is not good (healthy) for them. The videographer is trying to make a point, in order to do well and succeed in what you are doing you must get the amount of sleep required! Now some teenagers are morning people some are not. Okay, if this scientific research is correct, you will need to go to bed a quarter til 9:00pm (8:45 pm.).

The implacations of sleep deprivation is students will go to bed late and then get up in the wee hours of the morning. This continued pattern causes students to not do as well in school and once they miss sleep, it's hard for them to catch up.

This could improve my school performance because, when I can get enough sleep, I'll be wide awake and more "in tune" with what's going on in my surroundings. It could also improve test scores and grades.

Getting a good night's rest can definately improve your athletic abilities. For example, when you come home from practice and you've just learened something new it's going to stick in your head. Then the next practice you'll improve as you go along.

From the video "Sleep Deprivation in Teens," I learned that sleep is remarkably important, especially in teens. Sleep can also affect their learning ability. On an average a teen gets up to about 7.5 ours of sleep a night, when they should be getting at least nine and a quarter hours. By not receiving that amount of sleep or more the common adolescent isn't capable of doing as much. REM (Rapid Eye Movement) is also a determining factor in a good night sleep. In the video they tested two young adults. After three days, one of them increased their scores on the tests. The other increased on some and decreased on others. Nikki was the student who increased rapidly. She had REM more involved in her rest than other child did.

The purpose in this video being created was to let everyone know how influential sleep really is to our daily lives. Sleep can affect our mood and our ability to learn.

Facts form this video say that you should get 9 and 1/4 hours of sleep. For example if you get up at 6:00AM, you should go to bed at the latest 9:30PM.

By not getting enough sleep at night, you can be affected in many ways. Your comprehension for learning, your physical awareness, and ability to stay awake will weaken.

Getting enough sleep helps you in school, because you are more alert and eager to learn. There was a change made at a high school so that children wouldn’t start school until 10:00AM. By making this change in schedule, students were acting more involved and interested in their classes. The main class they improved in was first period. I try to go to bed at the latest 9:30PM, so that I get enough sleep. I do notice that when I don't get enough sleep I have a harder time learning, and focusing. Sleep would help.

When I go to dance I have to have energy. I dance like four days a week, so not having enough sleep doesn't help me improve at all.
Anytime your involved in a physical activity in is imperative that you get sleep.

In conclusion, sleep is very important. With no sleep you would have no energy. Rest at night helps anyone's life in a big way.

I learned that if don’t get a good night sleep (at least 9 hours) you will not perform as well as you can. I also learned that you could develop habits of going to bed late, which can affect your performance and health. The videographers's message is to show how important it is to get a good night sleep because it can affect you in many ways. You should go to bed at least 9 hours from the time you go to bed to the time you get up. For example I get up at 6:30 so I need to go to bed at 9:30 to get at least 9 hours. The implications of sleep deprivation are not performing 100% weather its schoolwork or a sport. It makes your immune system weaker. Getting a good could improve your schoolwork tremendously because you'll be able to concentrate cause your up and have a full tank to learn. This could also improve athletic abilities cause you'll have enough energy to go 100%.

I think that the hours of sleep that a child should have are ten to 11 hours because they can grow and remember tasks. Watch a video before you go to bed so that you will remember information. Most teens don't go to bed at 9:00 pm on school nights but they go to bed at 12:00 on weekends. When they go to bed too late the could loose their memory and forget stuff.

I think that it could improve your athletic ability because it could make you weaker if you don't go to bed on time when you are supposed to and if you do you will be strong and healthy and most of the time it will restore all your strengths and muscles in your body.

The implications of sleep deprivation are that when you go to bed you should think about your school work and go to bed at the right time to restore your memory about all the things you learned so that the information will be stored in your brain.

I don't think I really learned that much from this video. Most of what was stated is already common knowledge, or at least among my family. The message is basically that teens need to get more sleep than we already get. Performance and attention increase with better, longer amounts of sleep. If you wake up at 5:00 like I do, they're saying that I should go to bed around 8:00 or 9:00 at night, however I highly doubt that's going to start becoming a common practice. Anyway, studies prove that teens should be sleeping in later and going to bed later, it's good for them. When you're deprived of sleep, everything suffers. Performance, attention, and your social life could all improve if teens got more sleep.

I learned from this video that I have serious sleep deprivation. Your suppose to get about 9 hours of sleep at night witch would require me to go to bed at 9 pm. I have not been to bed at 9 pm since I was 5 years old. The videographers's message was to get a lot of sleep so you could do better in school and activities. Maybe the research is right but its not realistic in my life.

Not enough sleep at night affects students differently. Some students may require more than others. In my case, I only need about 7 hours of sleep at night. I make sure that I eat a healthy breakfast every morning and I exercise daily and I take vitamins everyday. I live on fruits and veggies and I never struggle during any activities or school.

My point I am trying to make is that sleep is important but there are other ways to function daily. I feel I don't want to sleep my life away because I am busy with school, friends, family, sports, church, and so much more.

I learned a lot from this video. I learned that it's best for us teenagers to get nine and a quarter of sleep every night so we can relearn everything and do well in school. I also learned that the people who actually get enough sleep at night and not in the classroom do better in school than the others. I think the videographer's message is that teenagers should be able to get home do homework, go to a sports practice, have diner with the family, and have time to sleep up to nine and a quarter hours every night. If this scientific research is correct, I should go to bed at about nine forty-five pm. I don't think I have ever gone to bed at 9:45pm. Implication of sleep deprivation is how you act, how you look, and what your mood is. It could improve your performance by staying awake during school so that you can do your work or listen to the teacher talk and not fall asleep while he or she is talking. This could improve your athletic abilities by having an extra boost in cross country, or helping you be more awake for the sprints in basketball, maybe even increase your strength in gymnastics.

I learned from this that if you study before a test then go to sleep early you will remember the answers more than you will if you go to sleep at midnight. Yes it could improve your athletic abilities because you will be more rested than you will if you’re up all night. It could improve your school performance by like if you learn something that day and go to sleep early you will remember than if you go to sleep at like midnight. So as you can see sleep helps the brain remember more thing if you sleep than if you stay up all night.

I think the video explained a lot about the effect sleep has on your and other teens' health. Sleep, when explained in the video, is almost like recharging your brain. If you don't get any sleep, you're bound to be sleepy and uncoordinated the next day. If you get a full 9 1/4 hours of sleep a night, You can usually get out of bed more easily and do better in activities during the day. I think the video really explained to us how sleep can affect everything you do. I didn't like the idea of school starting later, though, because this leaves less time for after school activities. I know Cross Country would last until 6:00 instead of 5:00. That wouldn't be very good. So, I think getting up early is fine as long as you get to bed at a decent time. In short, This video has very important information, and I think every student in the U.S. should watch it and learn.

What I learned in this video was that many of us students are not getting enough sleep. We need our sleep in order to learn easier and learn more information. I think the videographers's message was to show us how important it is to get our sleep every night. Also I think he/she wanted to tell us how sleeping can help you remember things that you learn that day along with showing us how quickly our brains can work with a good nights sleep. Most of us think that school starts too early in the morning because we're so tired when we wake up when it actually us not going to bed early enough at night. I think that we should go to bed from some time between 9:00-10:00 or get at least 9-10 hours of sleep a night so in the mornings we won't be as tired. I know that if I don't 9-10 hours of sleep, I won't be able to pay any attention or remember anything the teachers said the day before. Also, I will be very cranky, confused and stressed or show barely any emotion at all. You can tell if someone is tired by if they're yawning a lot and stretching. You can also tell if they have idea of what the teacher was saying or rest there head a lot on there books or desk. Getting enough sleep will help you think start instead of dreaming in lala land. Also you can improve in athletic abilities by getting enough sleep because you will have a lot off energy to do things.

I learned that the amount of sleep a child gets effects how well they do in school, how alert they are in the mornings, and how they act and react in school.I think the message the author is trying to make is that we should go to sleep earlier, start school later, and get 9 and a fourth hours of sleep.I tink that a child should go to bed at 8:30pm and wake up at 6am or go to bed at 9pm and wake up at 6:30am.I think the implications are that kids should get more sleep to do better in school.More sleep could help me inschool if I study before I go to bed and my mind will keep going over it as i sleep. It could also help my athletic abilities because I would have more energy and be more alert.By:DEVANIE CARPENTER 1st PERIOD

It is very hard for me to get up in the morning. When my alarmclock goes off, my parents have to drag me out of bed. When i get to school, most of the other kids are awake, and i am struggling to keep my eyes open. I am used to going to bed late because in the summer, i go on midnight walks with my brother because i hardly ever get to spend any time with him. I try to go to bed at 10:00 so i can get enough sleep. I think this video was about how sleep effects teen's awareness

I learned that you need to at least get nine hours of sleep or you are going to have a slow day. The videographers's message is that the more sleep you get the better you do at school. In my opinion you need 9-10 hours of sleep. If you don't get enough sleep everybody will know because you are moody, grades, or you fall alsleep in class. It will effect school because your grades will drop and you will get in trouble in class becuse you are moody. It also will effect your sports because you are tired you wont want to do anything or you will mess up.

I learned from this video that teems aren’t getting enough sleep.
Which I kind of already knew because I have a brother and sister who are teenagers and I am almost a teenager and I knew that none of us got enough sleep. Well only on weekends.

The videographer is obviously trying to show how not getting enough sleep can really hurt your performance in school. By showing us how much better we do with enough sleep compared to sleeping about only like 5 or 6 hours I thought was shocking cause we did like a lot better with sleep, which is obvious.

I think this is correct. So I should got to bed around umm I'd say about 9 or 9:30. But the problem is I get up to bed around 10 or 10:30 but I normally don’t fall asleep until like 11 or 12 I toss and turn and stuff like that.

The implications are not performing well in just about anything when you don’t get enough sleep.

The only time when I do get enough sleep is when the WESTEST is going on. Because I feel that I would perform better. Because I can concentrate instead of yawning the whole time.

I think it could help our abilities in sports just a little bit. Because sports take skill but you still need to be awake.

the video i thought was really cool. They said the teens only get about 7 1/2 hours of sleep when it's time for the westest people isn't going to be awake enough to take the test thats why some of the kids got the test scores they got myspace is relly a drug my friend is always on it 24/7 she never goes to sleep the only sleep she gets is in the day time which is like 4 hours. i go to sleep around 11:30 and i wake up round 6:30 so i'm like one of those kids but at least i can wake up but if a weekend LEAVE ME ALONE.

The video showed that sleep takes a big part in your performance in school. The reason I think that we need to go to bed early is that it improves school work and you be less tired during school. The implications of sleep deprivasion are you will perform less then usual, forget things you've learned, and have a very tiring day.
To improve my school performances I would get to sleep early enough to be having the needed sleep I should have to perform the best I can.I think that it will improve my athletic abilities since i will be getting the sleep i need each night and I would have more energy.

I learned that kids really don't get enough sleep. My parents keep telling me I never get enough sleep, and you know what? They're right. Most kids don't. I think that was the vidiographers point. To make us think if we really don't get enough sleep. I know it made me think. I usually get around 6 or 7 hours of sleep during the week. I know I usually am very tired in the morning when i get up, and throughout the day. I know since I have toget up at six, I should go to bed at nine. I know getting to bed earlier would improve my scool work, because i would be more focused, and be able to preform better. It would improve ahletic abilities the same way.

In this video about "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" I learned that most teens are only getting about 7 hours of sleep each night. Once you have lost your sleep you can not gain it back. This can end up with very tiring resuls. I think the videographer's message was to show that teens need their sleep and we should try not to stay up late. It is very important. Getting enough sleep affects you in many ways such as your mood, actions and apperences. If you dont get enough sleep the night before school you might tend to be in a bad mood or you might do something without even thinking first. Another reason why you should get enough sleep is because you might look very tired and sleep during class. By getting enough sleep you can improve your athlectic abilities as well as your school performance.

This video really explains a lot about teen sleeping deprivation.
I learned a lot about why I'm always so tired. It made me realize that I don't get the amount of sleep that I need.
I should go to bed around 10 from what this video's research says.
Since I don't get much sleep at night, I have problems paying attention and awake in my first 4 classes. Normally, by 5th period I'm ok. If I got the amount of sleep I needed I would probably have a better performance around my grades. I think that getting the amount of sleep you need would definitely improve athletic abilities. Also that it can help you out doing sports or taking tests. If the person that made this video is correct, then I should go to bed at 9:00 to get a full night of sleep. If you do not get enough sleep you can do poorly on tests and sports or you could be tired all day. In the morning if you do not get enough sleep, in the morning you might forget what happened.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video showed that almost no teenager gets enough sleep and they're true. We do have lots of privileges that we take advantage of and decide to put off sleeping for those privileges. I don't get enough sleep. I usually get 8 to 8 1/2 hours a night, and that's probably the most sleep I've had in 5 months, even through the summer. The videographers's message is mostly to teens and their parents. They're telling the teens to get more sleep and they're telling the parents of teens to reinforce the teens going to bed at the right time. Also, I do believe that the scientific research saying this is correct. I also believe that is could help my school performance by not shutting down my brain to concentrate on how much sleep I need and not my school work. Also in sports it would help give me more energy.

The videographer's message is that teens need to get enough sleep to perform better in school. If this scientific research is correct then i would need to go to bed at about 9:00 P.M.. I thought the "Sleep Deprivation in Teens video” was very interesting for many reasons. I thought this video taught me that getting sleep is important because of mood purposes and for learning purposes. It said that if you don't get enough sleep at night you will probably lack the ability to perform well in your classes. You will also pay much less attention in class if you don't get any sleep at night. It also said that if you don't get enough sleep then you will probably be in a bad mood or in not as good of a mood as you probably could have been in.
If this scientific research is correct then if you get up at around six o'clock then you will have to be asleep at 8-9 o'clock.
It also said that teenagers need about 10 to 9 hours of sleep a night.
The implications of sleep deprivation are if you wake up several times during the night, going to bed late at night and waking up early, not getting the proper amount of rest, falling asleep in class, and going to bed irritable.
This could improve your school performance by 5% or more. Also if you get the right amount of sleep you will more than likely be more active in class and remember things more constantly.
The answer is yes this could improve your athletic abilities by it would be detrimental to your health because it is dangerous to play a sport drowsy or sleepy because you are not aware of flying objects and your reflexes will probably be delayed. If you get the right amount of rest you will be able to react faster and more diligent.

From the video "Sleep Deprivation in Teens", I learned that sleep is very important. I also learned that sleep can effect their learning ability. Most teenagers get about 7 - 7 ½ hours of sleep, when they should be getting 9 hours. In the video, they tested two teenagers, and after three days, one of them had increased her scored an everything. That's because she slept longer, and she also had more REM than the other child did.

The message of the video was to let kids know how important sleep is. If you don't get enough sleep, it could effect how you feel, and your learning ability!

In the video, it says that an average teenager should get up to 9 - 9 ½ hours of sleep. Lets say someone gets up at 6:30 in the morning, than that person should go to bad no longer than 10:00 p.m.

By not getting enough sleep, you can be effected in many ways, but if you get enough sleep, there are some advantages. If you get up to 9 hours of sleep every night, you would most likely do better in class that someone that got 7 hours of sleep. If you get enough sleep, you will be more ready for class, and not so much sleeping during it. You would be ready to learn new things! In the video, they mentioned a high school that does not start until 10:00 AM. By starting school so late, the students were acting more involved in class, because the got more sleep that night. Sometimes I stay up late, because im watching a television show, and I cant stop watching it. Well, whenever that happens, I notice that during school I am more tired and not as interested in what is happening. I would much rather sleep in that class, than learn. But, when I do get enough sleep during that night, I wake up in the morning and I am ready for school, because I am wide awake and ready to learn, and not tired.

I cheer for WFMS. Well, its not the easiest thing in the world. Sometimes I don’t get enough sleep, and im so tired that day, I don’t want to practice. But when I get a lot of sleep, I have so much energy! If you play any sport, it is very important that you get enough sleep during the night!

In conclusion, sleep in very important in a teenagers life. Getting enough sleep every night could help a lot of kids in so many ways!

I leard from the video that teens should have about 9 and a quarter hours of sleep per night. Also that teens who sleep more preform better and learn more in the classroom. The message is that every teen should get the maximum amount of sleep or more. If I wake up at 6 or 6:30a.m. then I should go to bed around 9 p.m.The implications of sleep deprivation is not being able to focus as much,or falling asleep in class, and not being able to learn as much as someone who has had the right amount of sleep.Getting more sleep will help you get better grades, and understand the class material better.Yes it could improve athletic ability.

From the video “Sleep Deprivation in Teens” I learned that a good nights rest is more important than I thought it would be to a teen. How much sleep we get can make a difference in our moods, school work, attitude, and how we feel physically. The message I think is trying to be relayed in this video is, that it is very important for teens to get at least 9 ¼ hours of sleep at night. Tests have proven that this amount of sleep needed helps your grades and your health. For me to get the sleep I need each night I should probably go to bed around 9:00 P.M. I usually do not go to bed until 10:30 P.M, so I know now that I am not really getting the full nights sleep I need. Some implications of sleep deprivation I think you would see are, your eyes look weird in the morning you are too tired to even be in school to learn, and you have no energy to do anything physical. By getting more sleep every night a teen’s school performance would improve as they would have more energy, should be more alert to pay attention in their classes. Then the teens should do better on their work and tests. More sleep would give you more energy, better health, and then you would be in better condition to play in sports. I realize after watching the video that I should get more sleep to help me do the best I can in my classes and in the sports I play. 8th period Grant Holbert

In the video, “Sleep Deprivation in Teens” I learned the importance of sleep. When a person gets the correct amount of sleep, they are more alert, and they actually have more mental and physical capabilities. Teens should get between nine and nine and a half hour of sleep each night. An average teen gets around seven hours of sleep. Many nights I don’t get home until 8:30 p.m. or later because I have cross country practice from 3:30-5:00 and then soccer from 6:00-8:00. By the time I do homework, take a shower, and get packed for the next day, I am lucky if I am in bed by 11:00 and I don’t usually fall asleep instantly. It takes a while to wind down and fall asleep. Each morning I am up by 6:00 to get ready to catch the bus at 6:55. That means I am getting seven hours of sleep. So, every night I am missing over two hours of sleep.
The videographer is trying to explain that students need more sleep to perform well in school and extra-curricular activities. School begins to early for teens in most areas. A major reason that students aren’t getting enough sleep is sports. Most kids are involved in after-school activities that are depriving them of study and sleep time. This makes their skills suffer in and out of school. But if schools have later start times, after-school activities will be pushed back and once again so will sleep. Teens need to figure out how to do their school work, extra-curricular activities and the things they enjoy like going online, playing video games, talking on the phone, etc., and still get enough sleep. In order for me to get enough sleep to be successful I will need to get to sleep by 8:30 or 9:00. I really don’t see that happening.

I learned from the short video that sleep is very important in many different reasons. The things that I learned is that enough sleep can help you do better in class and also be able to stay awake better. It is also a disadvantage because you wouldn't be able to do any after school programs or any sports. The videographers message was that everyone want school to start later to sleep in but it isn't such a good thing. If this scientific research is correct then I should be going to bed at 8:30, but there is no way that I could go to bed that early. The reason I can't is because I have cheerleading and lots of homework. The implications of sleep deprivation is your biological clock telling what time your body wants to go to sleep. This could improve your school perfromance by either telling you to set it different and going to sleep earlier. Yes this could improve you athletic abilities.

I learn that teens do need more sleep than I thought. If you do not get enough sleep, you can get pretty grouchy,or not do good in school. But, eventhough some people need more sleep, others do not need as much. I can get up really earlt on some morings and still be in a good mood for school.
I think the videographer's message was to tell kids they need more sleep to have a good balanced day. Even though people may think they get enough sleep, that does'nt mean they always do.
I go to bed almost every night at 9:00-9:30. That is what time I should be going to bed, since I get up at 6:30.
The sleep implications of sleep deprivation are how much sleep you actually get. Doing good on homework is part of it too.
This would help you do better on homework, schoolwork, and and other things at school.
This could help you get more rest for more energy. This could also help you get more abilities to stretch and bend.

What I learned from this video is that most teens get up to early and some go to bed way, way too late. I believe the videographer's message is that teens need more sleep if they are to acheive in school and make through the day. I believe that the research with the two teens is correct so I think that teens should go to bed at 7:45 in the evening and should wake up and the exact time of 6:00 in the morning. What happens when we teens do not get enough sleep is that we show up late for morning classes and fail to do acceptingly well with grades. I believe that more sleep time will truly help teens do well with school performances and it would also help with athletic abilities. But if we were to start school later then we would miss out on after school activities. So all we need is more sleep.

Sleep deprivation in teens is an interesting video. I learned that there is never too much sleep. But too little sleep can affect your mind and make you tired. It affects your shool work and if you studied for a test the day before and got little sleep you may not be able to remember what you studied. The videographers message was that you need sleep to help you with school. However the time you should take to sleep is 8 to 9 hours. I will admit I dont get enough sleep because i got to bed at 10:00 and Get up at 6:30. I really should be going to bed at 8:30. Sleep deprivation can even effect you socially and physchologically. Getting to bed early can definatly help your school work because on the video they said that getting to bed early after studying is as good as studying. It can also help in sports because if youre awake you'll be aware of your surroundings meaning youll see whats going on.

When I watched the video sleep deprivation, I realized how important it is to sleep in.
The next time get in trouble for sleeping in I will have to remember to tell my parents that it is for the good of my health. But on a serious note, i learned that when you sleep for just a few hours longer, it can increase your thinking abilitity by that much.

I think the videographer wanted to convey the theory that teens should not have to be made to get up so early and still be expected to perform at their best at school.

If this scientific research is accurate, I should have to go to bed at around 8:00 or 8:30pm. If I did try to achieve going to bed at this time every night, I think my school work would improve for my morning classes. I think that because I would be less in a bad mood when i got up and wouldn’t have to try and rush around after hitting the snooze button 5 times. Well, I get up at about 6:45 so I need to go to bed at 9:30 to get a good nights sleep. I wish i could do that. I usually don't get to sleep till about 10. I know half an hour isn't much difference but according to the video I'm not getting enough sleep. I'm sure that if i could get a full nights sleep I would do so much better. I know this from experiance. I've had nights where I've hardly gotten any sleep and I just don't do as well as I do when I'm wide awake. Getting enough sleep would definatly improve my abilities. One night I got 7 and a half hours of sleep, and when I got done walking home from the bus stop, I was ready to plop down on my bed and sleep. On a normal day I would have been fine!

What I learned from the PBS video on sleep patterns of teens, was that a teen at my age should get at least nine and a-half hours of sleep a night. I think that the videogragher's message was to show people especially teens that they need at least nine and a-half hours of sleep a night and how important sleep is to us, and what we look like and how we act when we don't get enough sleep. If this scientific research is correct, I should go to sleep at eight thirty each night. The implications of sleep deprivation are your actions during class or to other people like if you go to sleep during class or if you act grouchy to others, and or don't pay attention. It cannot improve your school performance instead, it will keep you confused and tired, instead of keeping you alert, awake, and focused. The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens” video has made me realize how important sleep really is. I think that the videographer was trying to prove that the amount of sleep that we get every night really effects how we act the next day.

Since I live so far away from my school, I have to get up at 4:30 every morning and I usually go to bed at about 10:30 every night. That means that I only get six hours of sleep on school nights. In order to get nine hours and fifteen minutes of sleep every night I would have to go to bed at 7:15PM. Half of the time I’m not even home at 7:15PM. I know I should get a little more sleep but I think that nine hours and fifteen minutes is a little bit much to ask. I would never have any time for extra curricular activities.

I will try to get at least eight hours because I know that I will do better in school and in sports if I have energy in the mornings. I also believe that I will be in a better mood everyday and have more fun with my friends if I get more sleep at night. So I do agree with the video but as far as changing the schools start time I think it is a bad idea. I would rather have a little time to just have fun after school.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video explains the effects of not getting enough rest each night. I was surprised to learn that teens need at least nine to nine and a half hours of sleep. Most teens get about seven hours of sleep. They are usually spending time on the computer, the telephone or watching television. The video said that if more teens used that time to rest they would be more alert, perform better on tests and classwork, and would have an easier time remembering what they need to know for the day. When teens don't get the sleep they need it affects their mood, their ability to think, to perform and react properly. If this scientific research on sleep deprivation is correct then I should be going to sleep around nine o'clock each night. I usually wake up around six or six thirty in the morning. Most days I feel alert and ready to start a new day. It is important for me to get all of this rest because my days are soooooo long. I usually don't get home from school and cheerleading practice until five thirty in the evening. I have to have enough rest to get me through the rest of the night to do my homework and get ready to do it all over the next day.

I learned a lot from this video. I learned that the more sleep you get, the better you do on test on the next day. The videographer’s message from this video was that you need to get more sleep because its better for your body and your brain and it helps you think. Everything that you learned the day before is being re-learned in your sleep. You should go to bed depending on the time you wake up. Example, if you get up at 7:00, then you should go to bed about 9:30 because you are required to get at least 9 and a half-hours of sleep per night. This could really improve your schoolwork because you are rested and you can pay attention better instead of not paying very good attention and being tired all the time. Your athletic ability can be improved because you are getting more rest and you have more energy to participate to the fullest.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video taught me that sleep is very important, and if you don’t get enough of if it affects you a lot such as in school, sports, and life. We are to busy doing other things that distract us from going to bed. I think the videographers message was we need to turn of the computers, cell phones, TV, and all electronics that keep us up all night. We can play with those electronics during the day after school or whatever we have to do during the day. Even extracurricular activities and homework get in our way sometime, and those are things dealing with importance in school. I get up at
6: 15am and the video says that I need nine and ¼ hours of sleep so I need to go to sleep at 9:00pm. The outcome of not getting enough sleep is tiredness, grouchiness, laziness, and not fully into what you are doing. When you get the sleep needed you are awake, alert, and ready to do the activities planned for the day. Getting the sleep you need, can improve you abilities in sports. I play soccer and I need to have the energy and be awake during the practice to pay attention so I can get better and better. Just like in any other sport you need to concentrate so you can get better every practice.

What i learned from the video is that it said that most teens should be giting more hours of sleep. Insted of giting 7 hours of sleep they should be giting 9 to 9 & ahalf hours a night. that way they will get better grades homework or tests. And giting more sleep will also make you have more energy in gym or in any other athlatics. Also if you eat breakfast it will also give you more energy. So what this video is saying is if we git more rest we will be better in athlatics and at school work. This video was very educational. I learned that there are different types of stages of sleep. We also need more sleep in our teen years then when we are younger. If we do not get enough sleep our schoolwork may suffer, and test scores might go down as well. Also, it’s easier to do certain tasks with the right amount of sleep compared to not having enough sleep.

There are a couple things that the videographer is trying to tell us. For one, teens need more sleep than they usually get. The videographer might also be trying to get other schools in America to change there starting time too. This might help the grades in America come up (Since our test scores are much lower than China’s). If this information is correct, I should go to bed around nine at night.

If someone was having sleep deprivation problems, serious things could happen. Like if they were driving, they could fall asleep and cause an accident. Problems will also occur in school too. Your grades will most likely slip. Also, you might not do as well on your SAT’s or West Test depending on your grade. Therefore, getting enough sleep is very important.

When you have the right amount of sleep, it can help a lot with sports. For instance, when you’re in a soccer game, you have to stay alert and know what is happening at all times. If you don’t get enough sleep, you can be tired, and not do as well as you should. This was a great video to show. It might help students who have lower grades because they don’t get enough sleep. Hopefully they will try harder to get more sleep, and do better in school.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video showed me just imperative it is to achieve a good night's sleep. It is astonishing just how much a few hours of sleep can affect teens. I have a feeling that if I would get a more sufficient amount of sleep I could possibly wake up less drowsy and stay awake longer, as well as perform better in school. Had I seen this video a few years ago I probably could have began forming better sleep habits then what I’ve been using. The thing that I am unsure of is what time to wake up in the morning, which was not stated, so what time is suitable for a decent night sleep. I always knew that teens needed between eight to ten hours of sleep per night, but in order for me to do that, I would have to go to sleep at around eight. I do not think that I could do that, simply because I am not used to sleeping that early. However, I still believe that the results from this test will change many lives across the country, because it is truly surprising. I normally obtain about 8 hours of sleep a night and do fairly well during the day, but I wonder what could happen if I would get about nine or ten. The results are truly incredible and I cannot believe how much of a difference sleep really makes.

I learned that teens don't get as much sleep as they should do, The videographer's message was to show us how much teens get of sleep, and
why its important to get a good night sleep. Kids my age should go to bed about 8:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m.
The implications of not sleeping is having a negative attitude towards others and felling tired and out of energy. Sleeping can get your memory back together and not make you fall asleep in class. Sleeping can help out your athletic abilities, like keeping you system awake and not making you fall over and go out like a night light.

I think that the "Sleep Deprevation in Teens" video said that most teenagers don't get enough sleep. It showed that if you don't get enough sleep than you can't think as well as you could if you did get enough sleep. Teens should get about 9 hours of sleep in a night. I think it would increase people's school performance dramaticly if they got around 9 hours of sleep a night.I also think that it would make people more energized for sports if they got a good night's sleep.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video was very informative. I learned that teenagers should be getting a little over nine hours of sleep a night, instead of the seven hours most teenagers are getting. I sleep about eight hours a night, which I guess is better than others, but we could all do better.

I think the videographer's message was to tell teenagers that they need to be getting more sleep. I also think this video was for the teenagers’ parents, too.

Getting more sleep would defiantly improve my academic performance. As shown in the video, getting more sleep helps you concentrate and focus more so in school.

I think that starting school later is good and bad in different ways. It’s good because it gives teenagers more time to sleep, which will improve their school work. It is bad in ways, though, because it takes time away from evening activities such as after-school programs, sports, clubs, and spending time with family. I think that it would be a good idea to start school a half-hour or forty-five minutes later. It would give teens a little more time to sleep, but it would still give opportunities to participate in sports and other activities.

In my opinion, I think students would get more sleep if they didn't have televisions and computers in their rooms. I don't have a television in my room, but I have some friends who can't sleep without it on at night. I think it would help them more if they didn't have it on to distract them from sleeping.

I learned that people who get the right amount of sleep are smarter than those who don’t. When you are in a deep sleep your brain is learning.

The videographers’s message was “Get More Sleep”. Because when showing us what they test and by proving that it is sleep is what helps you learn, they are saying to sleep.

If I would go to sleep at nine-thirty and get up at six-thirty I would have enough sleep, because I would have nine hours of sleep. This sleep would help improve my grades and athletic abilities, because I wouldn’t be as tired I would be well rested and have enough energy to get me through the day.

In the "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video i learned that most teens only get 7 hours of sleep on average. Doctors say that a normal kid should be getting 8 or 9 hours of sleep, which is up to two hours off of what most teens get. The videographers message is to inform teens and adults of why they are always so tierd in class usually in the mornings. If this information is correct, I should go to bed around 9:00 at night, which is two hours before the time i usually do.Not getting enough sleep at night can effect the way you act around friends, family, and teachers in the morning. It can make you totally out of it, to the point of you don't even know what your doing. Going to bed earlier at night will effect you in a positive way. You can be fully energized and awake for the next day at school. If you play basketball or football or cheerlead or any other sport, going to bed on an earlier schedule will improve your "game" and will probably keep you moving without feeling drowsy.=]

I learned a lot of information from the video. It was interesting to learn that most teenagers in America are not getting enough sleep each night, and that is why they fall asleep or yawn in class. I also learned that teens are staying up too late and that is another reason why they have a hard time waking up in the morning. I think that the message in this video is to show kids that they need a good night of sleep to perform well in school and in other activities. The video says that teenagers need 9 ¼ hours of sleep each night. If this is true, then I should be in bed every night by 9:15 p.m. Sleep deprivation causes kids to do badly in class, not pay attention, and act exhausted the entire day. I think if I went to bed earlier I would be more energetic during school. I think it would help out my athletic abilities because I would have more strength and power after school at football practice.

The video clip I viewed informed me of how important the amount of sleep can be to function and perform in school. Also, the researchers discussed how a teens pattern of sleep is different than that of an adult. Researchers stated that a teen needs eight to ten hours a sleep a night for them to learn and perform at their best. Teens should be in bed by nine or ten o'clock to get enough sleep when getting up by six o'clock for school. The implications for sleep deprivation show that teens are unable to focus at school work instead they are just trying to stay awake. The clip even showed how sleep deprivation can be dangerous to teens by slowing down the mind and the teens reaction or performance time to tasks. Sleep deprivation can not improve shool performance however getting more sleep can improve a teens focus, attention, and performance of school tasks. Sleep deprivation can be dangerous to athletes causing them to be sluggish which could cause them to pull a muscle or get hurt during a practice or game. A teen that gets the proper amount of sleep not only has more energy to get a good workout at practice but can also allow a teen to be more attentive during games which contributes to the teams overall performance and decreases the risk for injury.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video has shown me sleep is important to you. Normally I am getting at least seven hours of sleep every night. Do those extra hours count? The answer is yes. Why because as teenagers we need more sleep than infants because we are growing and when do we grow? In our sleep. Sleep is also the time for our knowledge in our minds to grow from what we learned in school.
I think the videographer's point in this film is to show we need sleep as teenagers because sleep is very important, it is what makes more active in the morning so we are ready to learn. Also that we are more prepared and less tired for school.

The message that the videographer is trying to tell us is sleep deprivation is a serious issue. If you do not get enough sleep throughout the night you will not function well during the day. This means that teens should go to bed around ten o’clock.
If teens got more sleep they would do much better in school. I feel that if school started an hour later that I would do much better in school. This is affecting athletes greatly. This is slowing them down and gives them slower reaction time on the field. So in conclusion
I feel that if teens went to bed an hour earlier they would all do better in school and in sports.

This video was very informative. I learned that teenagers should be getting a little more than nine hours of sleep, instead of the average seven hours that the majority of teenagers are getting. I sleep about eight hours a night, which is not too bad, but everyone needs to try to do better.

I think the videographer was trying to address that sleep is important and wants to make it heard. The video did catch my attention and make me more aware of what little sleep I get.

If it is true that teens should be getting nine and a quarter hours of sleep, I would have to go to bed at 9 o'clock every night to keep up. I probably go to bed on average of ten or ten thirty most nights.

Sleep deprivation affects me more than I thought. Basketball and dancing are two very important things to me and I could be improving by getting another hour of sleep a night. I also take school very seriously and my mom has told me so many times about how important sleep is for someone my age. I never listened, but this video has opened my eyes.

In my opinion i think i would definately improve in school if i had more sleep. I think I could concentrate a lot more in school if I wasn’t worried about staying awake. It's really hard to pay attention and get involved in class when you are so sleepy. I think my school work would improve.

I think my physical activity would improve. Like I said before, basketball and dance are very important in my life. If I were to get more sleep I might be a level higher than I am now.

The "Sleep Deprivation in Teens" video showed that teens should at least get 9 1/4 hours sleep. On average teens get around 7 hours of sleep. The more sleep a teen has the better teens perform in all aspects of life. While the teens that only get 7 hours of sleep are sleep deficit. They will never catch up to the teens that are getting 9 1/4 hours and prospering. Even though on the weekends most teens do get at least 9 1/4 hours that is still not enough to regain the sleep that was lost through the week. I think it would be a good idea to not start school until 9 am. That way everyone can have a good night sleep and time for a good breakfast before school. Instead of rushing around and not even remembering getting on the bus.

In the short video I learned that a good nights sleep can help you do better than school. I also learned that REM (rapid eye movement) can help a lot too. The videographer’s message is that as teens we need about 9 ¼ hours of sleep to stay alert, and think clearly. If the research is correct you should go to bed around 9 or 9:30 pm. Sleep depravation can cause to not think as clearly as you should, and cause motor skills to decrease. It can help in school because good rest can help you think clearly and stay focused. It can also help you stay alert in gym so you can do well in the sport your playing. Therefore you can get through your day successfully. Yes because you need hand-eye coordination in basketball, football, baseball etc.

I make pretty good grades, but if I slept a little more I would even do better. This video told me many facts about the things that happen to teens when they are tired. They showed a classroom full of students in the 1st period of the day. They were half asleep! The teacher said that it was very difficult to hold their attention. I think that the videographer made this video to make teens and parents more aware of how sleeping habits might hurt their abilities. The video showed how researchers studied two teenagers after different amounts of sleep. This showed that the boy that wasn't getting as much sleep didn't retain much of his learning. The researchers put them through several tasks to test their abilities. I think that my school performance and athletic abilities would improve if I got more sleep. All teenagers need at least 9 1/4 hours of sleep. It was an informative video, now I need to go to bed! Good night!

They said kids do better when kids have more sleep, but I think if you have too much sleep it could make your muscles a little sore and get you in a bad mood. On the other hand, sleep does help refresh your brain for the day. It would keep you more alert for physical activities and able to pay more attention in class.

This video shows us that teenagers do not get nearly as much sleep as they should. Instead of 9 1/4 hours of sleep, most are getting less than the average 7 hours of sleep. The videographers purpose of this movie is to alert people of all ages the importance of basic sleep and how much we need it. Basically to answer nine hours, you would need to go to bed at seven o' clock to wake up at six. The implications of sleep deprivation are grouchiness, lethargy, and plainly putting it, getting dumber. However, a good night's sleep can improve your energy, focus, and grades.
