Abraham Lincoln was the United States 16th president in 1861. I was born on his birthday. The day of our birth was Febuary 12th. He was born in 1809 in Hardin county, Kentucky. While he was president he built the Republican Party into a strong national organization. He issued the Emancipation Proclomation to forever free the slaves with the Confederacy on January 1st, 1863. Lincoln was re-elected in 1864 to serve his second year in office. Lincol ln was assassinated on good Friday, April 14th 1865. John Booth killed him while at the Gord theater in Washington.
