My experience of overcoming obstacles is a very recent occurrence. This past weekend was the first lacrosse game of the season. Not only was it one game, there was three, it was a tournament. The years before my team was never the best. We've had specific people who were really good, but most of them are in high school now. After only four practices, and I only attended one, we had to play a few games. The scariest part, I'm the goalie. I didn't expect to win. I didn't even expect for my team to score. I thought I wouldn't be able to save any shots, but I was totally wrong. Not only did my team win one game, we won all three. And I saved a good few balls. I have some bruises to prove it. In the end, the tournament was only for fun, but winning is just an added bonus.

I remember the time when our defender was got injured in the semifinals of a soccer tournament about two years ago. I play midfield, but since our defense was now weaker, coach put me in for the injured player. At first I was scared of failure. I was not good at all at defending at the time and I'm still not too great today! I was a rookie among experience. I played decent for the first few minutes, but after that I had a great game. I even scored from the defense. I was scared, but I never gave up!

This past weekend our lacrosse team played in a tournament. We where playing experienced teams. We are a team with a majority of newbies. I was put in to play mid and it was my fist game so I felt kinda pressured. We ended up winning all 3 of the games we played. We where all tired but we continued pushing and we went all the way.

When I was in B ball at Mary Lou Retton park we were practicing for our game the next day. Practice was almost over but I wanted to hit 1 more ball so I hit a gapper to right center field. The I rounded first but when I rounded first i twisted my ankle. Then after practice I was in alot of pain so I went home and put ice on it. The next day was a playoff game so it was an important game. So I played that day with a sprained ankle and played a pretty good game to. We ended up winning the playoff game to advance to the next game. But without me powering through that injury I dont think we wouldve won.

this past weekend was the first lacrosse game of the season. it was not only one game but three. I didn't think we were going to win any because most of the team is made up of people that have never played before this year. during the first game it's started pouring down the rain and it was very hard to see anything at all. but we pulled theough and one. not only did we win one game but we won all three. I was really proud of everyone ecspecially the girls that have never played before. it was a very fun experience.

2 or 3 years ago when i played soccer we had a game one weekend day. A lot of people didn't show up show up, and we ended up not having enough players to fill the whole field since we had a very small team anyway. The coach of the other team didn't put in as many at once so it was fair but they still swapped out many times because of how large their team was. I had to play the whole game and for the second halve i was the only defender. It was very hard but i played some good defense.

I was playing fall baseball in Westover when I was 9 years old. A Westover team had an 11 year old who was tall and was a fast pitcher but he did not have very good control. During my first at bat, he threw a fast ball that came right at me. Luckily, I had been instructed by Jason Graham how to deal with the situation by turning away so the pitch did not hit me in the chest. It hit me on the back just under the arm and it really hurt. (the bruise was in the shape of the baseball and you could even see the stitches from the ball in the bruise.

Two innings later, it was my turn to bat again, but I was afraid after what had happened in my first at bat. My coach and my father told me that I had to go up to bat no matter what and overcome my fear of getting hit again. After coaxing, I went up to bat and not only did I not get hit by the pitch, I got a single and showed myself and my coaches and teammates that I could overcome what had happened in my first at bat.

I have not recently been challenged to do something because I don't play any sports. But I can remember when I first started karate. It wasn't easy at first trying to remember all the words and movements. It took me some time to finally start learning it.
My first karate tournament I was nervous and I had most of the things I needed to learn down, but I still had to try my best and it was nerve racking.

Running is a very challenging sport, with many different obstacles. My first year of running ever was when I joined cross country. I'd never ran before, and was placing high in every race. My growth plate in my foot was shifting, and we had been to the doctor several times about it. It hurt really bad every race, but I still managed to pull through. It would only get better with time, until it moved fully in place. I managed to finish the year great, and it eventually went away, making me an excellent runner now.

This year I played football for our middle school team. We were getting ready for our game versus east, and a week prier to the game I was sick. I was feeling terrible all week, but I still practiced and even played in the game. I played the entire second half and had a hard time breathing. But we only had ten minutes left in the game. So I did want I do best, I just got mad and played through the pain. We ended up winning the game. The next day My parents took me to the doctor. And the doctor said that if I would have waited three more days that I would have severer bronciduce. That is the time I over came a sever optical.

Once while I was playing soccer, my team was in a tournament. We were playing our last game of the day for third place. Both teams wanted to win badly, and it was sixty minutes of high energy play. The opposing team was winning 3-2 when one of my teammates scored with less than a minute left, to tie the score. As time ran out we knew we had a chance to win the game. We had to have a penalty kickoff, where five players from each team gets a shot on goal. I happened to be the last person for either team to have a shot on goal. The score was still tied as I lined up my shot. I kicked the ball to the corner and made the goal, and my teammates started cheering. However, the referee had not blown the whistle for me to kick, so I had to line up my shot again. When I heard the whistle blow I kicked the ball t the corner again. The goalie dived for the ball but it went in. I had scored the game winner.

My first year in a ball was the best year I've ever had. So my first practice with bigger and older kids was kind of scary because they threw really hard and I didn't really want to get hit if I was pitching. So our first game was against the one of the fastest pitchers in a ball Cody Wagner he probably threw 70mph. So in practice our coach was throwing really hard and I was up to bat and I got hit and the game was in one day so I had to play that whole game with a huge bruise on my arm I could barely move it. So my first at bat was scary since I was the first batter and I already got hit but the first pitch he threw boom out of the park. I was surprised of myself and that was the first home run I had ever hit .

A couple months ago I hurt my back in practice and I couldn't play hard for like two weeks and we had some big basketball games coming up and I didn't want to miss out on them. So the first game wasn't a good game because they weren't that good so I played a quarter but my back hurt really bad so I had to sit out with ice on my back like the entire game. But then the next game was a bigger and better game we were playing south in Morgantown and I could only play like 2 quarters my back still hurt and without me we lost my like thirty points.

The past two years, Ive wrestled for the middle school wrestling team. This year, I finished 19-4. One of those however, was one I'll never forget. I had 3 matches that day, and there was only one mat so I would get a break in between each match. My first match i pinned the kid pretty fast, and I was happy about it. I watched my two next matches, and they were pretty good wrestlers. One was from Lincoln (who was the better wrestler) and one was from South Harrison. I asked my coach and he said that our next dual would be against Lincoln. "Great" I thought. Before I knew it I was on the mat dhaking Lincoln middle schools 155 pounder's hand. The match seemed to fly by. I was down 6-1 with 30 seconds left. In the previous period, the kid had taken me down seconds after the whistle, and he hit me in the eye. I got a reversal and back points in which allowed me to gain 5 points and tie the score up, sending us to overtime. In over time, 12 seconds left, I hip tossed him and won. I couldnt believe what I had just done. Everyone in the stands was eother chearing with glee or frowning in shame.

This past basketball season wasn't one of my best. It gets discouraging when people are you telling you that you can't do this or your can't do that. Our last tournament was crazy fun. I still had people doubting me. In the first game we lost, I played aweful in that game. Then I called my mom and told her what happened. She told me to play for me and don't let anyone discourage me. Those last three games happened to be the best games I had played in a while. That showed me that playing for me was probably the best thing to keep me going.

When I was in forth grade I played basketball for Jayenne. I was like 4 foot 10 inches tall. The other kids were much taller than I was and I thought height was everything in basketball. I was a guard and the forwards were much taller than I was. I was a little scared and thought we would lose every game. We ended up have a pretty good season that year. I had over 150 points in the season but we lost in the tournament. It was so fun playing but it war hard.

I was challenged quite a few times when my family kept on moving. I have moved five or six times and been to seven different schools. When I was six or seven we had to move from our small apartment in Indiana to Morgantown, West Virginia. Ever since my parents had gotten married two or three years earlier we had come to WV every summer break for my dad`s internship with Mylan. Then they offered him a job and we had to move eight hours away from all my family and my school. We moved into a house in Morgantown practically right next to the stadium! WE made very close family friends that were in walking distance from our house. I could walk all over the neighborhood and play in our garden or in our creek. Then once again we had to move we moved to another small apartment on the other side of Morgantown. Although we were really upset, we made new friends and had a huge backyard and we were really happy! Then of course we decided to move to Fairmont. I didn't know where Fairmont even was and i lived in Morgantown. We bought a house and I started school at Watson elementary and I was the new kid, in a school where everybody had gone to school together for years. I made really good freinds in fourth grade . I was expecting to move after sixth grade because we never really had stayed anywhere longer then three years. Now I`m in eighth grade we`ve lived here for close to six years. Though it was hard to keep moving, to get new family, to change churches, and to not get to see my Indiana family a lot, I got through it.

When I first stated public school it was hard for me to adjust to school because it seemed like I didnt fit in because I was the new kid and i didnt know anyone and anyone who has been the new kid knows that its a really sucky because no one knows you and you dont have any friends but i overcame that struggle and the people that made fun of me and the people that make fun of me i know that they arent my friends

A time when I was challenged was when I found out that I had hearing loss. When I found out I was only five years old. When I went in for the hearing test for kindergarten I failed the test so I went to a hearing doctor. I found out that my left ear had had like 80% to 60% of hearing loss and my right hear had 40% to 20% of hearing loss. Over time I have to learned to read lips when someone talks because if I do not I will not know what they said. I also had to learn to use hearing aids which help me a lot and with out them I can not hear barely at all. My doctors say that they think I was born with it , but no one knows for sure.

In my first year of b-ball I broke my arm and dislocated me elbow. I was playing shortstop and a kid was stealing. When the kid came in and slide he stuck his cleat up. It was the weirdest slide I've ever seen. I caught the ball and swung my arm down to tag and hit his cleat. Some lady who delivers babies said that I was just a deep bruise but it wasn't. I was out for the rest of the season. When I was feeling ready I had to try out for a-ball. I hadn't practice before then at all. I did end up making it.

A couple months ago I hurt my back wrestling. I was one week away from our first match. I ended up missing three weeks of school and four weeks of wrestling. I was upset that I didn't get to wrestle for my team. When I finally got back I was out of shape. I had to work hard. At my first tournament back I went 8-0. By the time the season was over I finished with a 36-0 record.I won our conference tournament and was voted Most Oustanding Wrestler. I won the WSAZ's which is our middle school state tornament.

A time I had to overcome a challenge was when I was wrestling. During a wrestling camp I broke my finger. It was at the beginning of the camp and it was all day also for a couple more days. It hurt terribly but I had to finish, because anything I start I must finish. That was saying I always went by. When I got home from the camp I went to doctor and figured out it was broken I hated going through all that pain.

Overcoming obstacles comes in just about every day of our lives. One of the times was when I first learned to jump rope. I never knew how others did it so easily. However, when I set my mind to it, I started practicing every day. It was pretty complicated, but after a couple of days, I did get better. I could last longer than some of my friends too. The tip to acquiring your goals is to never give up, and always keep trying. Sometimes, it’s probably still impossible, but failure is part of success too. You can’t always be successful in life without experiencing failures.

I have been challenged many times in my life. One of the most important challenges I have faced was in baseball last season. I was in third base and my teammate hit a grounder to short. My coach yells go and I take off to home plate. The shortstop decided to throw it to home instead of first. The catcher catches it and tags me right in the side of the head. He hit me hard. I thought I had a concussion. As the game progresses we realize all of our pitchers were burnt or couldn't pitch. They had to put me in. I took us to victory. It was awesome.

A few years ago I was actively taking piano lessons. I have quit them sense, but still play a little bit. Anyways, my instructor at the time wanted all of his students to preform at a live showcase, and this was a problem seeing as I had approx. zero talent. To add to the problem, I didn't practice until like 2 hours before the event took place. So, instead of doing something horribly complex like what was intended, I managed to get away with the chord simple chord progression and was less mediocre than anticipated. My horrible singing voice ruined it though, so nothing was ultimately achieved.

Once I played for mcparc and our best player got hurt so I had to step into his spot the bad thing was that i was a guard and he was a big. That was my first time my life that I had played that spot on the team, but I learned to do it and we won the game.

Last year I had to overcome a lot of injuries. I broke my ankle in 7th grade, and sprained it right after it healed. Then in basketball I hurt my knee and it was really close to a very bad injury, the trainer thought it was a torn ACL, and so did the Orthopedic Surgeon. But luckily it wasn't that and it turned out to be not as bad. Then right after I got better from that injury, I sprained my ankle in Wheeling at a scrimmage. I was so mad and frustrated with myself when it happened cause I know how awful it is when you are hurt. It set me back even more for basketball. I had to overcome this and work hard to get out of the obstacles. So I only missed the first game of the season, against Mountaineer Middle. I ended up having a good season and did pretty good.

A couple years ago when I was playing soccer my heel started hurting during a game. I tried to ignore it and thought it would go away but after the game it hurt so bad I started to cry. I asked my Aunt what she thought it was and she didn't know. She told me to ice it and see if that would help it. So i iced it and it kind of helped. But the next game it hurt even worse and I iced it again but it just kept happening again and again. So we went to a physical therapist to see if they could help. He said I had a disease called severes and it affected my growth plate in my heel. It was from ages 10-14 so I would thankfully grow out of it. So he gave me a insert to put in my shoe to help it and I couldn't wear regular soccer cleats I had to wear turf cleats and they helped very much. The. The next season I wanted to see if I grew out of it and I tried regular cleats and thankfully I grew out of it and I could play in refused cleats without pain.

At our 8th grade night volleyball game this year, we were warming up. I went to hit a ball, the girl blocked me, and she fell into the net. She knocked me off my balance, and I fell and landed with my right ankle twisted to the side. It was the first time I had ever sprained anything so I flipped out. After a couple of weeks, it got better and I got to play the last game. I actually lied to the coach and said it was all better, but it wasn't. I just wanted to play really badly. It healed completely after a few more weeks.

This year I was at cheering practice and I hit knees with one of the girls in my stunt. after I hit knees I fell fine till I went and sat down. once I got back up from sitting down, my knee felt numb. I couldn't walk right and everything was tingly. I made a statement about it and every ran away from me screaming. her something had popped out of my knee. my knee cap had popped out and tore my protective covering of my knee and it cause my knee to bleed internally. therefore I had was supposed to sit out for a couple day, but we had comp that weekend. so I continued to practice and after I stayed off of it for a while and it was perfectly fine!

A time when I had a challenged that I had to do something that required myself to overcome an obstacle wasn’t too long ago. It was in fact just a few days ago. I was in track practice and we were timing on how fast we were going. We were doing the one hundred and I was like I got this and nothing going to stop me. I was horribly wrong. Mrs. Balzer had blown the whistle to give the ok to start. We ran as hard as we could. I was neck to neck with john and we kept on pushing and I guess I pushed too hard. I had pulled a muscle in my leg. I had kept running until I had reached the two hundred finish then I had collapsed. That is the time I had to overcome an obstacle.

Unknown said...

the closest thing to having to overcome a challenge was around July last year when my friends and I entered a tournament for this game. In one of the semifinal matches my friends were all defeated and I was the only one left against three other people. I actually won against them but my team was knocked out the next round.

I remember my last year of football with fop in practice I got a bad concussion the trainer thought and I went to the doctor and they said it was just a little one. We had a scrimmage and I reagrivaded it and I had to sit out for 2 weeks. I thought I would lose my starting position and wouldn't play but when I got back that's exactly what happened. So I had to work my butt off for a new position. Before are game against Bridgeport my coach told me I will start at linebacker. I was really nervous because I never played that position. But in the game I finished out with 18 tackles and 4 sacks. Also I got mvp for the game.;)

Recently I haven't b en challenged to do anything but I can remember my first year of cheering for the Bulldogs. It was hard learning everything and doing all the stunts and lifting people. I was really scared and nervous during my first competition it was really scary their was so many people there just staring at you. So many cameras recording you or taking pictures of you. It was really scary

A time I have been challenged is in the sports at our school. This basketball season we didn't have a very good team but I had to push myself to play the whole game and try my hardest. I had to score as many points. Also in volleyball and softball. I have to try to get a hit in softball toget on base to try to score. Also in volleyball I had to try and score and spike so we could try to win.

When I started school cheer is was terrified to tumble on the wood floor. I was afraid I was gonna hurt myself. The first day I didn't want to even do a round off. But Becky pushed me and I did a round off tuck. I was so scared my heart was racing. I didn't want to fall in front of everyone, but I got more confidence. I started trying new things and I got my whip pass and had my jingle bells off an on. Now I do things that I never thought I was gonna do.

But I started to get the hang of ball control and running now I don't mind running that much and I play soccer constantly because after everything I ended up liking the sport.

When I started Amy sport it was hard so it was hard to learn that so I would say that is something that is hard to learn or over come it's a hard thing to do but if you just try in Any sport you can over come the obstacles and accomplish it and have a good time and it's ok if you mess up along the way.
