Setting

Setting is an integral part of any literary work. Give examples of mysterious, scary, futuristic and romantic settings from books, poems, novels, or movies that you have seen or read. Give examples of setting from the past, present, and future from television shows, movies and or books. Can you think of any examples of stormy weather in a movie or book and the relationship of that storm to the character's struggles. If you could create a scary, or romantic setting for a story where and when would you choose?

This is what setting is time and place in which action occurs.writers often tell more than date and location: weather, scenery, rooms, local customs, clothing, and dialects. and I never read a book with stormy whether except that one book we read in class.

I have read a lot of books and seen many movies with different settings. Sometimes the setting actually makes the movie. "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was very mysterious. It was set in a house and an old castle. "The Telltale Heart" which is a poem by Edgar Allen Poe is very scary. I saw it as a play. It took place in a very spooky old house. A futuristic movie that I have seen is "I Robot". The movie was set in the future when just about everyone has their own personal robot. It showed technology and things that we don't even have yet.
The movie "Tuck Everlasting" took place in the past, probably in the 1800's. The clothes they wore were very old fashioned and they rode horses. I thought the movie, "50 First Dates" was very romantic & funny. The guy, Adam Sandler did everything sweet and romantic for the girl, played by Drew Barrymore to make her love him. The "Wizard of Oz" is the perfect story to tell about what stormy weather can do increase the characters struggles. The tornado turned Dorothy & Toto's lives upside down! If I could create a story, mine would be a scary setting. It would be in a dark, abandoned house in the middle of a storm. It would take place in present time.

An example of a mysterious setting that is also comical is Scooby Doo. It is set where there are ghosts or monsters usually in and old house, and old ship, or where a ghost story had taken place. An example of a scary setting would usually occur in books by Edgar Allan Poe like Megan said. In stories such as Telltale Heart, The Fall Of The House Of Usher, and The Raven. A romantic setting would be in A Cinderella story at the end during the football game♥♥♥
A setting from the past could be from the book The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle or Something Upstairs by Avi. A present setting is in the book The Meanest Doll in the World, and a futuristic setting could be in the movie Meet the Robinson's. An example of the weather depicting a characters struggle would be in The Chronicles of Narnia. Where the weather gets worse and snowier the harder it becomes for Aslan and the good people but when the weather clears up it becomes easier for them. If I were to create a romantic setting. It would be in the past at around the early 1900s and it would be in Paris!!!

Examples of mysterious, scary, futuristic and romantic settings book, poems, novels, or movies that I have read or seen is Full House. It is an old time classic

The infuence of setting on characters' decisions and actions may vary from work to work. It can grow and change throughout a story. An author often gives more details about the setting as the story progresses.some details are made up of sensory images...Such as sight details..."The students were squirming in their seats." Or sound details..."The tiny, tinkleof the bell."Can you name the 6 elements of setting? The setiing of a story, play is the time when nad the place where the events occur. Elements of setting may include...Geographic location...Historical period...such as past...present...or future.

Type of place...Time of year or day...WEATHER Stormy like clilly,Snowing, raining, sleet,or hail.Special objects such as kites trampolines or soccer or somehting like that. People Danny tanner is on Full house and he is so cool.He is the inspriation of the whole TVshow/Movie.The Characters like DJ Tanner.Stephenie Tanner, Michel Tanner, Joey Gladstone, and Uncle Jessy they are my favorite.

If I were to pick a book or movie and where I would I would have the movie shot is in New York at Times Square Downtown Central New ork Channel 10. The weather that my movie would have in it would prople be summer becuse my pool would be open and my movie would kinda be like Full House but with my Famiy in it.

An example of a mysterious movie can be a nook called "Bud Not Buddy" becaus Bud is not sure who his father is and he tries to find him. A scary movie can be like the horror movie Jason or Freddy Crouger. A Futuristic movie that I have seen is "Back to the Future" because Mcfly goes to the future through a time machine I think because I haven't seen the movie in a really long time. A book with a romantic setting is "Romeo and Juliet". A movie that I have seen that has a setting from the past is Pearl Harbor. There are alot of movies with a present time setting, for example: the movie Disturbia. A new movie that is coming out soon that has. Future setting is the movie "I Am Legend" with Will Smith. In one of the Harry Potter movies there is a storm when he is nervous because Sirius black is coming to Hogwarts. I would choose a scary story for a setting and I would make the movie be based on a book that took place in the 1920s.

An example of a futuristic setting is the movie "Meet the Robinson". It takes place in the future and the movie includes allot of perditions that may happen sometime in the future. An example of a Romantic setting is another movie "Rapunzal" It was a story about a girl that got locked in a tower and had a prince come and rescue her. An example of a scary setting is the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest". Some scenes took place with Davie Jones. (That is an opinion, some people don't think that movie is scary, but I do.)
A setting from the past would be the TV sitcom "I Love Lucy". A present setting could be the television show on Disney Channel "Wizards of Waverly Place". A setting from the future could be the Movie "Meet the Robinson".
An example of stormy weather where the characters faced some struggles was "Noah and the story of his ark" It is from the "Bible". The part in the "Bible" Noah had to get the people and animals in his ark that he had built.
If I could create a romantic setting it would be in the most romantic place in the world Paris, France. It would be in the present. I think that the past is too old and the future is too new.

The only mysterious setting I can think of is Scooby Doo. Its setting is in the cyber world and they are trying to catch the cyber monster. So they get in the cyber world and start looking for the cyber monster and they end up in this very mysterious place and that’s all I can remember. A scary setting that I can think of is the movie Vacancy. Its setting is where him and his wife are on a road trip and they stay overnight at a hotel so they can start early in the morning. Then they get washed up and are getting ready to go to bed and he pops in a home-made movie kind of thing and starts to watch it. Then as he is watching it he notices that it is happening in that very room. So he looks around for cameras hidden in the walls. The only futuristic movie I can remember right now is “I Robot”. The movies setting is in the future and robots are know helping humans do simple tasks and he is against them and he knows most of them are bad so he tries to kill them all. A romantic setting would be the movie “The Notebook” and I have know clue what its about. I just know it takes place in South Carolina. A setting from the past would be the movie “ Tuck Everlasting” it takes place in the early or late 1800’s . A setting from the present could be the movie Stomp The Yard, a futuristic movie could the movie is Meet The Robinson’s. An example of storming weather in a movie is The Chronicles of Narnia where it snows and it gets harder for them to see their way back to the closet. If I could chose a scary or romantic setting for a movie. I would take the romantic one and it would be one a beach as the sunsets. Now that’s a good idea.

An example of a mysterious setting could range from a dimly lit are to a graveyard, although some people think of graveyards as scary. Some scary places would be a moonlit night on a road in the middle of nowhere. A romantic setting would be at a restaurant. A futuristic setting could include a science lab with crazy technology, or futuristic devices. A good show set in the past is Gunsmoke. A book I have read set in the present would be Artemis Fowl, which takes place in england. A setting from the future would be Meet The Robinson's where the main character goes to the future.
An example of stormy weather I have seen on a TV show was on a mystery show, and the main character was looking for something in a graveyard when it starts storming and it becomes the climax of the show. If I could create a scary setting I would put it in an old abandoned movie theater in the early 1900's.

One example of a mysterious setting is in the movie “Jurassic park” when they arrive on the island inhabited with dinosaurs. An example of a scary setting is in the movie “Disturbia” when the main character is in his neighbor who he thinks is a murder’s house all alone. One futuristic setting in a book I’ve read is in “The Time Machine” when the scientist is in the future around 800,000 A.D. A romantic setting I can think of is in the movie “Elf” when Buddy the elf is ice skating with the girl he likes in New York City. One movie that takes place in the past is in “Back to the Future” when they go to the Wild West times. Some movies with present day settings are the “Spiderman” movies which take place in present day New York City. The movie “Mission to Mars” takes place in the future in the year 2020. One movie that a storm has a big effect on is “The Day After Tomorrow”. The storm has a big effect on it because the movie is about an enormous storm that was said to create a second Ice Age. If I could create a scary story it would take place on an abandoned island in the past. It would be there and then because the character(s) would be alone with a creature with little or no technology to help them.

The setting is always the easiest part of a book report. A mysterious setting that i think is a good one is from Scooby Doo. The episode where Scooby Doo and his crew was on a ship in the middle of the dark sea. A Scary movie's setting is usually the setting that I remember the most. I don't remember the name of the movie, but the setting is in a hospital in the middle of the night. This very sick girl was running away from a guy that wanted to murder her. It was a very interesting movie. I couldn't get my eyes off the screen. My brother watches Phil of the Future, and I was watching it with him. The setting of the episode was in the cavemen days when thay traveled to the past to bring a cavemen home. The cavemen days were very clean but dry, and ofcourse it was a very l;ong time ago. I love the movie Cinderella with Chad Michael Murry because of the romantic scene. The setting was outside with lights all over a tent looking thing. It was just him and Cinderella all alone trying to figure out whoi each other were. A stormy setting was in the book Something Upstairs. the setting was very stormy in the early 1900s. The character struggled to runaway from a murderer that tried to murder him and his friend. If I could create a scary setting, My setting would be in the middle of the night at a haunted gas station. I always thought a scary movie would be interesting if it had a haunted gas station. I know it sounds a little bit stupid. HA HA HA

Setting is where and when the book, movie, etc. takes place. A mysterious setting that I can remember from Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie when the chipmunks go to a theme park that has closed already and they are standing there wondering where everyone went. It was very mysterious. A scaary setting would be in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" There were some people in a van going down an old road when they saw a girl walking down the street. I jumped about twenty times during that movie. In the movie "I Robot" the setting was in 2029 and Will Smith had a robotic arm. A romantic setting would be in "The Secret Garden" they were in the rose garden sitting there on the stone bench together. A stormy setting was in "The Wizard of Oz". If I could create my own setting it would be in a dark room

The setting of the story is where it takes place. Some stories have several different settings.

Several examples of different settings are, scary, mysterious, and futuristic. An example of a futuristic movie would be Star Wars. It takes place far in the future. There are many science fiction places and characters. A scary setting would be the Halloween movies. There is stormy weather in that movie. It does relate to the character, since there is a crazy person about to attack her. I don’t watch romantic movies, but I figure that some of those might be at a beach, or in the mountains, or something like that. I think that a mysterious setting in a book would be a dark cave, an abandon building, or in the woods at night. I mysterious movie would be like Mission Impossible. It would also be considered futuristic because of all the gadgets that the main character uses. It would take place in the future.

One movie that I really like is The Patriot with Mel Gibson that is a movie about the Civil War.
It is about a man and his family that is torn up by the war. That would be a movie that takes place in the past.

I personally like comedies. If I am reading a book, or watching a movie, my favorite thing to do is laugh. I really like Adam Sandler movies. He is a brilliant comedian. The setting in a comedy could pretty much be anywhere. Many times it is a strange or unique place that would make people laugh.

The setting of a story, movie, etc gives us a mental picture of where and what the characters are experiencing in their world, of the story. The mystery is the part that keeps us in suspense as to what will happen next. Sometimes this can be scary. The setting is to help keep our interest.
Examples of mystery, scary, would be: at night, in wooded areas, castles, islands, storms, and high winds. Examples of settings past, present and future: Stories where the setting reverts back to olden days, like in the book "Holes". There were flashbacks to the western days. Movies that portray events that are happening now, whether it is sports, events, comedies. Settings of the future, like "Phil of the Future" have space and more advanced technology.
Usually when stormy weather is used it causes additional struggles for the character or characters. They are usually walking in the storm, or the storm makes them afraid, it sidetracks them from their focus or goals.
If I could choose a setting it would probably be: on the beach, with sunny, warm, calm weather. It would be for a fun movie or book. Something that would be enjoyable to all readers and take their minds off of their problems. Something that would take them away and make them feel good.

The setting makes the movie. If a movie is scary the setting might be in a dark house or park. A futuristic setting would be in space.
A scary setting is in the the movie Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest with my favorite actor Johnny Depp. A setting from the past would be a show my dad watches everyday the Rifleman. A present day setting in NY would be Spiderman. A futuristic movie could be Meet The Robinsons.
An example of stormy weather in a movie would be a perfect storm. There was a tornado and characters in the movie struggled to get back to their home to see if everyone was alive. If I could create a scary setting for a movie it would be in the woods at night.

Mysterious can be anywhere, I personally prefer the types that go against the grain and are in broad daylight. Scary, hm let me think, the ring! I think it was Kyoto, Japan, I'm not sure though. Futuristic is easy, go watch the scifi channel or go play Final fnatasy. The past could be from the stretches of antiquity to King Arthur of Wales to The Tudor period, any place on earth could be a setting from the past. The present is all around us. The future is easy, go read Ender's Game. It's on a space ship. Stormy weather could be in Ouran High School Host Club or the Belgariad. Twilight has stormy weather. The storm hinders the character sometimes, or it seems to be a physical realization of the character's emotions. My scary story would take place inside someone's brain. A romantic story would probably be a beach or alien spire surrounded by water.

This was one of the more boring blogs but it did say allot about settings. I didn't really care for the music either. But I did learn from the video.

One example of a setting that I thought of is the setting of the "twighlight zone" episode "nightmare at 20000 feet". The setting is on a small airliner on a rainy night when a gremlin starts to play with the engine in the 1950's.
Another setting is in Edgar Allen Poe's book "The Fall of the House of Usher". The setting is a dark, gloomy, and rainy day at the Usher house many years ago.105

I think that settings that are kind of creepy are the best kind. If I were to write a book I would try to make the setting so that it will make you want to stop reading but you can't because you will want to see what happened next.

The video is very nice and relaxing. The music is beutiful. I like how it is all put together. A mysterious example of a book, Goosebumps: Camp Nightmoon, is when the children start to disappear the counselors say that the kids never showed up to the camp. A scary example of a movie, Holes, is when the yellow spotted lizards jump on Stanley and Zero right when they find the treasure. A futuristic example of another movie, Back To The Future, is how the vehicle could travel through time. Finally, a romantic example of the movie, Transformers, is how at the end the boy and girl fall in love. Settings in the past on television show like, I Love Lucy, are black and white. You can not really tell the color of most things and you probally would not know what most things were until you were told. Present settings on television shows are realistic and you could find if you went there, somehow. I think futuristic setting on T.V. shows will be very vivid and beutiful. Stormy weather in the some movies might reflect on how sad children our adults feel in their struggle for love. I would put the scariest part of my movie at the very end so it builds great suspense and fear for the viewers.

Setting is the time and place in which a story is taking place. An example of a mysterious setting would be how in the movie “The Village” you never actually know what the things in the woods really are. An example of a scary setting would be how in “I Am Legend” when Will Smith is the last man alive in Manhattan, being the last man in Manhattan would really freak me out. An example of a futuristic setting would be the way Los Angeles had fallen apart in the movie “Blade Runner”, because it takes place in like 2900 or something like that. And a romantic setting would be like how the movie “The Illusionist” has a sub-plot that really is a romantic tale. A really good example of past, present, and future, would have to be the book, and movie, “The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells. It shows how a scientist found a way to leap to any time to the next. He eventually goes all the way to the future where the year is 800,000. If there was any story that had a struggle between man and stormy weather, it would have to be the book and movie “The Perfect Storm”. If I were to choose a setting to create, I would create a scary setting. Only in the reason that most movies like “Dawn of the Dead”, “Resident Evil”, and “The Fog” all have some of the best scary settings in the film business. I mean think about it, being stuck in a mall with all kinds of zombies outside ready to eat you alive, is kind of a foreboding scenario. I mean there is nothing wrong with a good romantic setting, but scary ones are a little more interesting and crowd catching.

Hmmmmmmmm.........I can’t really think of books or movies that I have seen or read of on the spot so I’ll try to do my best.
When I was little I read a couple of Nancy Drew books that very mysterious. The books were usually about Nancy Drew trying to figure out a mystery. Some of Edger Allen Poe’s poems were kind of scary and not too pleasant. There is or was a cartoon of people in the future and they lived in space and rode around in flying cars or something. A romantic movie I saw was The Notebook.
A poem with a setting in the past is Paul Revere’s Ride. It is taken place on April 18th, 1775. A movie with the setting of the present is Alvin and the Chipmunks. There is this one movie about a man building a time machine but I forget the name of the movie. He and this boy go to the future and everything is high tech and there are flying cars.
An example of stormy weather in a movie or book is this one movie (I forget the name!) where these hurricanes came and caused a lot of damage. This family got separated and they go out and try to find each other. The weather channel also shows stormy weather or some kind of weather almost every day. Some of the weather people have to go out in the bad weather even though it might be very dangerous.
If I could pick a scary setting it would be a kind of old house in the woods a million miles away from any other people. It would be very dark and windy and all you were surrounded by were trees. If I could pick a romantic setting it would a house in a wide open field with a pond right by the house and one or two trees too.

An example of a mysterious setting from a book I read-Something Upstairs, was the Author has you wonder what is upstairs in the attic. You are picturing this in your mind as you read. A scary example would be from a movie I saw-The Hills Have Eyes. It is very dark outside and there is scary music playing in the background. A romantic setting from a movie-A Cinderella Story, the characters danced to slow music and kissed in the rain. A futuristic example is from the movie-Back To The Future. This example is showing how things would be in the future year's. A past example would be from the tv show-Leave It To Beaver. A long time ago things were very different then the way they are now. The men and boys wore their hair very short and slicked back. The women wore dresses and their hair up. The present is like Hannah Montana. She is a normal girl that lives at home with her father and brother. She also sings. The future example would be from the tv shoe Phil Of The Future. This boy and his family are from the future. The way they dress and the things they eat are very unusual to us today. An example of a stormy weather setting would be the Titanic. The weather was very bad and the ship started to get water in it and it sank. All the people were trying to get off the ship, but most of them died. If I could choose a scary setting it would be at night in an old mansion. The dark always makes things more scary, so does a really big, old house.

Setting is the time and place were something occurs. In every book, poem, and so on there is always some setting being portrayed in some way or another. A mysterious setting would a lot of Scooby-Doo movies in haunted houses, a scary one could the hotel from “1408”, a futuristic setting could the place were the people of “meet the Robinsons ” live, and a romantic setting could the rainy night in “the notebook” were they kiss in the rain. Settings also include the past, present and future. A past example could be wars in the 1700’s portrayed in our history books, a present illustration could be the setting in “this lullaby”, and finally a future one could be place were “the Jetsons” lived. One example that comes to mind would have to be from the book “keeping the moon” were Collie is really sad after a disappointing day and just sits in her room and watched the rain poor. If I created a scary setting it would have to be in present day in a grave yard because I think they are eerie.

An example of a mysterious novel is in the movie called National Treasure with Ben Gates on a adventure to Mt. Rushmore to find a hidden city of gold. The movie that came out about three- to four years ago called, Sahara the plane crashed in the middle of the dessert and left the people who survived the plane crash stranded with no food or water, weekly they had to battle drots and sand storms. I would choose a scary setting in the middle of the Rainforest where a group of ten people are stuck and trapped in the middle of a war between riveling countries who won't the rainforest as part of their territory, and keep getting stuck by the countries and are being threated to be held captive, because the countries think that the people are spies from the other country and are trying to over take their government, menwhile the people only want to get out of the situion that they are in and be free again. I would choose to do it over the summer in the hottest part of the year for a more dramtic effect!

The setting is the time or place where the story action occurs. The setting of a story can describe the sights and scenery.
Mysterious movies are usually my favorite. Some are exciting while others can be quite scary because of the suspense. My favorite mystery tv series is Veronica Mars. I really enjoyed this series because of all excitement in trying to figure out all the mysteries.
The first scary movie that popped into my head was “The Grudge”. I thought it was pretty scary the first time I watched it.
A futuristic movie I have seen is “Back to the Future” Marty McFly and Doc go to the past and future through a time machine and try to fix things. While they are there they discover some problems they have to fix in order to not mess up the present.
An example of a romantic poem is “Romeo and Juliet.” One movie I think is romantic is “Cinderella.”
In the Disney channel tv show Phil of the Future, the Diffy family gets stuck in our present day while they were time traveling. They traveled from the future, to our time, and to the past.
There is only one movie I can think of that has stormy weather that causes the characters troubles. That movie is “The Wizard of Oz” I have seen that movie I don’t know how many times. When the huge storm causes a tornado and sweeps the house off the ground it causes problems and Dorothy ends up in a whole different place. A good thing about the weather in that movie is when the witch of the west casts a spell on the land and makes a bunch of poppies grow and they all fall asleep. The nice witch makes it snow to wake them up.
If I could create a romantic movie the setting would be in Paris or Rome in the 1900s!

There are so many different types of settings in books, poems, shows, etc. You can take a room and make it into many different settings. You can make it romantic, scary, and futuristic. One romantic setting in a book I just recently read was when, the main character Robin was walking down stairs to see her friend that was taking her to a dance, but when they saw each other, they fell in love. In the book, the narrator describes the hallway being dimly lit, while both Kit and Robin, main characters, looked stunning. The author also described how the front door was open, so the romantic sound of the night, and the starry sky added to the setting. A scary setting I can think of is probably in a scary or thriller movie. The scene always gets the scariest when the climax occurs, and the music fits in with it. You automatically get scared. One example would be in a movie about haunted dummies. The main character finds himself in the old theater, and comes face to face with all of them. The setting is on stage in the dark, witch the man holding a flashlight looking around. He shines his light upon the back wall of the stage and sees a dark, wine colored curtain. Almost immediately the curtain drops, and all the dummies are shown. This is a very thrilling and scary event, because of the setting, and for the fact dummies are just plane creepy. One mysterious setting I can think of is in a book called "Behind the Curtain." The main character, Ingrid, finds it to be fishy when she finds empty prescription drug bottles in her old tree house, while she notices her older brother getting bigger and stronger. The setting is she climbs up her tree house as she goes through a shortcut through the woods. She forgot about the tree house being there and climbs up it for remembrance. The author talks about how odd the sun was shining through the autumn leaves still left on the trees to give it a weird feel.

Settings can also include when the event occurred. A past setting I can think of is in "Paul Revere’s Ride" by Wadsworth Longfellow. Longfellow goes into details of how Paul Revere jumped on his steed, and galloped off into the night to warn all the Middlesex villages and farms of the British coming. You know the setting is in past tense because it is when the revolutionary war was occurring.
Present tense is happening right at this moment. A present tense setting would be in this book when the teenage girl is going to high school in New York. She is pressured into things that most teens are pressured to do now a days. A few ways I could tell this story took place in present time was when the book mentioned Paris Hilton, getting the girls license, and having a boyfriend.
A future setting would be in the television show, "The Jetsons". In the show, you see flying cars, talking computers, robots working, and many other advanced things.

Weather is a great way to describe setting too. One stormy weather setting I can think of is during the movie “Tuck Everlasting." During this scene, Winnie, James and Miles, are trying to break Tuck and Mae out of jail so they can leave Tree Gap. During this scene, it shows the struggle Winnie is having because she is in love with Jessie, but she has to let him go so his secret of him and his family living so long won’t get out. Winnie is struggling because she wants to be with Jessie, but at the same time, she has to help his parents.

If I were to make a scary setting, I would make the time in the past. The scene would take place in an isolated, quiet place. It would be storming, and have eerie lighting. This could be taken place in woods, a spooky attic or house, or in a car.

Romantic settings are much happier than scary settings. It would take place in the present. It would be night, and there would be a starry sky with a big moon. The weather would be calm. It might take place outside staring at the sky, at a party, or maybe at a dinner.

An example of a setting in a book I read was a scary setting, in the past of the book I read it had flashbacks to the forest and it was foggy, also it had an eerie feeling. In the present it had a calm, relaxing vibe to it. Finally in the future it started out as a very mysterious Nancy drew like novel, but it ended as a dream, a winter wonderland. I did read a book that had a furious storm, it pushed the character back a lot in the book. I don’t think I would write any book but if I did I would write a scary setting, it is so much easier to make up the scariest ideas rather than write romantic ones.

Setting is an important part of every story. It tells you about where the story is taking place. It also tells when, like the time of day or year.

One of my favorite movies is The Notebook. It has a romantic setting. There are a few places that I remember, such as the Carnival, the house on the lake, and the most famous scene, the storm. It takes place in the past and present, because it is a story within the movie.

In Bridge to Terabithia, Leslie goes to Terabithia by herself one day. It was raining and the rain made it very slippery. When Leslie went to swing across on the rope, it broke and she fell down in the little creek and died right there. The rain probably made the rope weaker, causing it to break when extra weight was put on it.

I would probably want to create a romantic setting. It would be in the past, just because I love how The Notebook used the past as the setting. It would take place on the beach in California.

Setting is awesome! Without it, reading a book would be really boring. I think a mysterious setting could be found in the Phantom of the Opera- We are just now watching the movie in Music. It is set in the Paris Opera House which has some strange happenings going on lately. A scary setting could be found in most horror movies, such as a misty graveyard or an old, foreboding mansion. Many books or movies make use of a futuristic setting because the future is such a popular thing to write about. There is actually a 20-minute long song I have that tells a story of the future, which is high-tech, but has no music. Many stories look upon the future with bleakness like this. A romantic setting would be a rose garden or something like that. It doesn't exactly matter which time the setting was in, except the futuristic setting would need to be set sometime in the future.
I remember stormy weather in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, both in the book and movie. There was stormy weather which related to Voldemort, the antagonist, gaining more power and Harry not knowing what to do.
I would create a scary setting in an old wooden 3-story house set out in some random forest in Germany while it is raining in the day, because the sky looks dreadful while it's raining in the day.

Here are my examples of the literary works.

Mysterious- Nancy Drew
Scary- Goosebumps
Futuristic- Jet sons
Romantic- Romeo and Juliet

Those are my examples of literary works. They are either cartoons, books, movies, and/or shows.

Now for some of the setting that take place for each past, present, and future.

Past would be: Romeo and Juliet
Present would be: Chipmunks
Future could be a cartoon or movie : Phil of the Future

No I cant think of any examples of stormy weather. Sorry. But if I could create a story the setting would take place in the summer on a hot day when you could swim, but the it would end on the winter. I would choose it to take place in the future because it would be easier to write about because none of it has happened yet!

I have read alot of different books and poems and each of them have many different setting. ONe movie that i've seen most recently would be "Hairspray" it was origanily a show from Brodway. This movie has a setting from the 60's. In the book "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" there are some parts where there is stormy weather, but the weather doesn't cause the person to struggle much. If I were to create a romantic setting I would it to be in Italy during the past. The scary movie would take place in the future, and I would make it in a place where everthing was destroyed or falling apart?

Setting is a very important aspect in stories. It is used in almost every story. It helps set up the climax, and helps to create obstacles for characters. Until watching this video I never knew that the elements of setting included weather, objects, and characters. An example of a mysterious setting in a book would be in the "Magic Tree House" children's series. It is very mysterious to think that the children can fly through time and space in a tree house, make magic, and go on adventures where they help magicians and change history. An example of a scary setting in a movie would be in most action movies such as "The Matrix." During one major battle scene Neo fights a bunch of clones of Agent Smith in semi-darkness and pouring rain. An example of a futuristic setting in a movie would be the movie "Aeon Flux." The characters in this movie lived in one city with huge walls to block out the rest of the world that was too wild. This was because of a disease that caused humans to be unable to reproduce. Some people got into a little high tech city where they were cloned so man could always exist. Almost all books and movies have some sort of romantic setting at one point. In all of these it is usually sunny and beautiful outside.
One funny cartoon show that has been around for a while is clearly past tense. This show is "The Flintstones." This cartoon shows cavemen and dinosaurs goofing off in the warm environment. A present tense movie could be "National Treasure." Throughout this movie today’s technology is used. All of the many historical sights are what they look like in this time. Everything in the movie is based on today's facts. A future tense show would easily be the cartoon "The Jetsons." This old cartoon has flying cars, floating glass elevators, jet packs, gadgets, and much more. Also, all of the characters are in space, which hasn't happened yet.
I can think of many examples of how stormy weather in movies and books affects the characters troubles. I gave one example of a movie with a storm in a fight scene above. It was in the movie "The Matrix." An example of a storm that affects a character's struggles is in a book I have recently begun to read called "The Edge Chronicles: Midnight Over Santafrax." It describes a "Mother Storm" that makes the characters feel emotions such as anger or sadness. The main character, Captain Twig, has to find out what happened when he went inside the storm and why he can't remember.
If I were to create a scary story I would choose to make the setting at an abandoned house in the middle of the night. It would probably be winter and would be in a rural town.

A scary movie that I have seen is IT. A futuristic movie that I have seen is The Fifth Element. A romantic book I have seen is The Notebook. A television show that depicts the past is That 70’s Show. A television show that depicts the present is C.S.I. In addition, a television show that depicts the future is Eureka. If I could create a scary background in a movie, it would take place in an old condemned building with scary music playing. The stormy weather in The Notebook brought two people together.

I don't read very many book but when I watch movies there are many different settings. An example of a scary movie would be "The Messengers". Scary movies all way's have very unusual people or creatures in it. In this movie there is some thing that only a teenager and her younger sibling that is three years old can see this thing. An example of a futuristic movie would be "Minority Report". This is an excellent example of a futuristic movie. A example of a romantic and funny movie would have to be "How To Loose A Guy In Ten Days." This movie is about a woman who has to do an article about work. Well I'm not going to say the rest, cause you just have to watch it. An example of a movie with stormy weather is "The Day After Tomorrow" In this movie there are many weather changes. There is a huge thunder storm that turns into a tornado in the beginning of the move. Throughout the movie there are about five major weather changes. The characters in this movie struggle to stay alive from the bruettel weather. This movie also gets extremely cold and have practically no heat to keep them alive.I don't know where it would be .

A setting that would have been from the past would be from the television show Sanford and Son, a setting from the present would be the tv show Drake and Josh, and a television show from the future would be the cartoon Futurama. In Night of the Twisters, tornados swept through the town that the main character lived in. The tornado related to the main character’s struggles because he had a difficult relationship with his stepfather and they didn’t get along at all. If I could create a setting for a story it would be, a scary setting that would take place out on a lake in the late summer.

The only mysterious setting I can think of is Scooby Doo. Its setting is in the cyber world and they are trying to catch the cyber monster. So they get in the cyber world and start looking for the cyber monster and they end up in this very mysterious place. So he looks around for cameras hidden in the wall. The movies setting is in the future and robots are know helping humans do simple tasks and he is against them and he knows most of them are bad so he tries to kill them all. A romantic setting would be the movie “The Notebook” and I have know clue what its about. I just know it takes place in South Carolina. A setting from the past would be the movie “Phantom of the opera” it takes place in the early 1900’s . A setting from the present could be the movie National treasure , a futuristic movie could the movie is Meet The Robinson’s. An example of storming weather in a movie is The Chronicles of Narnia where it snows and it gets harder for them to see their way back to the closet.

A romantic setting would be in "The Notbook" they kissed in the rain and it was so cute. A stormy setting was in "We are Marshall" that was the saddest and best best movie ever. If I could create my own setting it would be in the most uptodate basketball gym!

A setting is where the movie or show took place at. In scary movies it's usually in a dark allay or something just plane creepy. Romantic settings are probably in so girls fantasy romantic place. Like in Nancy Drew books its mysterious how someone turns up missing. Like in Back to the Future there are so many different settings in is unreal. First its in the present then future, and etc. There are so many movies that I watch that have bad weather like it can mess up what the character is doing. If I could do a romantic movie it would probably be in France at the white sandy beaches in the early days.

An example of a scary peom is when someone is walking alone in fog or mist and you hear some weird noise.

Futuristic settings are like a hover car or teleportation. A different sight of the sky maybe being darker.

Romantic settings are my favorite because there are so many different ways that a setting can be, like a man and woman together alone, or an old man laying in bed and telling his wife how much he loves her and how he'll wait for her on the other side, just before he dies.

Past settings are easy to see because the are horses instead of cars, and different clothes than those that are worn today.

Present settings are just like normal everyday things we do.

Future settings include things that haven't been invented yet like a computer thats screen that is the size of a sheet of paper.

An example of stormy weather in a movie that coresponded with the main character is in Piartes of the Caribbean when Davvy Joens' pet monster attacks the Black Pearl and it's raining and Capt. Jack Sparrow is trying to save his ship and crew.

If I could create a scary or romantic setting I would most likely create a romantic one. In my setting I would have a man and woman walking hand in hand down the beach and dancing in the tide. Then he would pick her up and tell her he loves her and then put her down and get down on one knee to propose.

Setting tells you where the story takes place. One of the books i read was called the notebook. it was a mix between romance and life. The setting of that story is in an old peoples hospital. You know, the ones that they put old people with problems like alztimers in. It was a really sad book too. The old man and his wife died. in in the manga book Anima it takes place in a village in a far of country. it's also a really good book. i don't really know of any more settings right of but i'll get back with you when i do.

Part of mysterious would be when Shurloch Holmes was looking for the killer. Or scary when the ghost almost got him 1408. Or futuristic in the jetsons. And last but not least, romantic like when the children sang the Whiskey Lullaby in the Whiskey Lullaby. Some settings in past would be on the mountain in 300. Or in the present like in the big white building in the Bourne Ultimatum. Or the blown up bridge in I Am Legend. A stormy weather setting would be in Moby Dick when they try to catch the whale. I f I could create a movie it would take place in the future about a society that is made perfect. It would be called Perfect Society.

An example of a mysterious book that I have read would be Nancy Drew. Those books are always set in crime scenes or just regular places. I have read a lot of scary books because they are my favorite. I really like the books called Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Those stories are always set in dark foggy places like in caves or dark buildings. One of my favorite scary movies is The Amityville Horror. The movie's setting is a new house in Alabama. The house looks nice in the day time, but in the night time it looks spooky like it has a face. I havent's seen any movies with futuristic settings or read any books. A sort of romantic movie I have seen is The Nanny Diaries. It was comic too though. There were a lot of different settings in that movie.I can remember on the movie The Amityville Horror, there were two nights they had thunder storms. And the story we read in our Holt Readers Three Skeleton Key. The had stormy weather and had difficulty keeping out the rats. If I could create a scary story, I would probably set it on Halloween and kids looking up at a spooky haunted house.

A mysterious setting would deffenitly have to be something off Scooby Doo, not that I watch it anymore...
A scary setting would be something like "One Missed call", this movie takes place in the dark mostly, and with scary background music, and in present day. Most scary movies have few people in them, because if you had the sense of being alone, then you would know how scary it is and how scary it makes it for the veiwer.
The only show I can think of that is futuristic is "Futurama".The setting is in a high-technology town, with robots and gadgets everywhere.
Romantic settings occur in a lot of movies. Personally, when i think of romance I think of a Hot tub, at night, with some candles and stuff. Haha. You know what I'm saying Mrs. Constable? =D.
In a book that has stormy weather, or in a movie, most of the conflict is sad, scary, or depressing. Somewhere along the lines of unhappy. I think that the setting has so much to do with the stories mood. If it's rainy weather, the story is most likely not a comedy or a happy love movie. If it is sunny, and has a warm atmosphere, most likely it is funny, or romantic.
If I were to create a scary setting for a movie, it would take place in a dark graveyard, or in a abondoned area.

A mysterious setting is like they lived somewhere that no one knew about. A scary setting is like when a family lived in the creepy old mansion. A futuristic setting is like when people are living in the future and are driving flying cars. And a romantic setting is like when they sat under the stars together.
A setting from the past would be like "Tuck Everlasting" cause it took place in the past. A setting from the present would be like the movie "Alvin and The Chipmunks". And a setting from the future would be like "I Robot".
The only example that comes to mind when I think about stormy weather is the "Day After Tomorrow". The storm brings all of the characters together by having them help each other get through the storm.

Wayside School is falling down is a book with many setting, and that is very popular me. An example of a mysterious setting in this book would be when a Louis is looking around in the basement and he doesn’t want anyone to find him because he is searching for a clue to his question about the school. Also when I was little my uncle used to read my cousins and I haunting stories from scary book he had bought in his later days. The setting was completely scary it was a dark grave yard, and all the children there had flashlights so they could see. The children had dared another kid to go out into the grave yard with all the lights out for 1 minute very scary story if I may say. A classic movie called The Lady and the Tramp has a romantic spaghetti scene. These two dogs are sitting in the back of the restaurant sharing a plate of spaghetti over a candle light. If you have not seen this Disney classic I insist you see it ASAP. Another classic with a variety of scenes is Scrooge the man who is selfish and doesn’t like Christmas. Three ghosts take him during the night and travel to the future, past and present. Each scene is showing what life was or will be like if he does or doesn’t stop his attitude. Noah a man from the bible refuses to go to Nineveh where God has commanded him to go. He gets on the first boat to the farthest land away from there so God caused a bad storm, and Noah gets thrown off the boat. If I could create a romantic setting for something it would be about a couple that just met and there in France sailing in a boat with a moonlight diner.

An example of a mysterious setting would be the movie "The Secret Window." It kept me wondering the entire movie how it was going to end. A good example for a scary move would be Saw 1,2 and 3. This movie was so scary because this freak would kill people in the most gruesome ways. A futuristic movie that I love and own is " IRobot." I love Futuristic things because I'm not into antiques, I love new things. My FAVORITE kind of movie is the romantic ones. One of my favorite movies is definitely " The Notebook." This was the cutest love story ever because it told a story about a man who fell in love with a woman and did everything to get her to love him, and it worked.

An example from the past would be the TV show "I Love Lucy." A present TV show I watch now is "Hannah Montana." An example of a show from the future would be " Phil of the Future."

In the movie "The Guardian" the weather was stormy and life threatening because a man had to go out and save people out at sea from the storm. It was such a struggle because he had to risk his own life to save another and the situations he was in made it very difficult.

If I could create a story, I would create a romantic setting that would take place on a beautiful tropical island like Fiji. I would choose it ASAP and I would play the woman's role and Aston Kutcher would play the man's role. =D !

Books are very different. we have everything from fictional Harry potter, to real life stories such as glory road. there is one thing that all books have though is a setting. The setting consist of the time, and place the book took place. if there is no stting there is no book, nor movies. settings range from the beggining of time, the end of time, and everything in between.
The author commonly leaves out the setting, but inserts context clues, to give you an idea of it. An example is that a story might take place in Washington D.C. . the author may say they were sitting at the foot of the Washington Monument. this automaticaly tells you where you are at. another example is that "King Auther and the Knights of the Round Table" the writer never says the date. the castles, nights, and dragons give you a good picture that you are in the medevil times. You can't read a book without knowing the setting. So if you don't know it you might as well only read half the book, becouse thats how imporant the setting is.

A mysterious setting I can think of is from the movie “Scooby Doo” where they gang tries to find out what is happening to people who are visiting this vacation island, which leads them into even more trouble. A Futuristic setting I can think of is “Back to The Future: Part II. In where, Marty and Doc Brown try to fix Marty’s future for a better outcome for Marty’s future family and Marty himself. A romantic setting I can think of is from the movie “Groundhog Day” In which weatherman Phil Connors and producer from the same channel make a snowman and almost kiss.

A book set in the past is Tuck Everlasting. In where a family who are in 1880, from 1793, try to live through the centuries since they are doomed to live forever. A film with a future setting is I Am Legend. This takes place in New York City, 2012. A film with the setting of stormy weather is Plaines, Trains & Automobiles. In which a majority of the film’s scenes take place in Wichita, Kansas and St. Louis, Missouri. Involving marketer, Neal Page, fighting the weather to get home to his family with the help and sometimes misfortune of, Del Griffith.

An example of a mysterious and scary setting I chose was from the movie I have just recently seen, "One Missed Call". Now, what made it mysterious and scary were that all these people got calls on their cell phones, hearing their own death. Then, they waited until the date and time to die. None of them knew what was going to happen. Some of the deaths happened at night, some during the day. Each was different. Transformers was a futuristic movie with robots that turned into cars. These cars could talk, walk, fly, and all these futuristic things. For a romantic setting i saw "The Notebook". The Notebook was about two people falling in love! This movie was based on past time their clothing, hair, and cars were from another era. The characters were faced with struggles and death. An example of a stormy setting affecting the characters was in the movie, "Open Water". It was about several friends going out on a private boat in the ocean. Several dedided to take a dip inb the ocean. All but two had jumped in. The last couple were on the boat with a baby. The man threw the girl in and decided to jump after her. Only then did they realize that no one had put the ladders down. This was a large private boat tnd none of the group could get back on the boat. The baby was left alone in her crib with no way to get out. They were out in open water for days and during those days ,they had to survive storms, worrying about sharks, and all kinds of problems. In the end, all but two people died. If I were to create a scary or romantic setting i would choose scary. The scary setting would take place somewhere dark and creepy late at night.

Setting is the place, culture, lanquage, weather and time of a movie, television show, or book. Mysterious is easy, if you watch a movie like Pirates of the Caribbean 3:At worlds end, you can see davy Jones locker is mysterious, and wierd, or read a book called Loch by Paul Zindel, Loch is a book based on the Loch Ness Monster, a cryptid studied in the science of Cryptozoology. Scary? Umm watch Army of the Dead, or read Stephen KIngs novels. Futuristic is easy, Watch a Futurama, a TV show about a man, Phillip J. Fry, getting cyrogenicly frozen and winding up 100 years in the future. Romantic could be An opera house from Phantom of the Opera, and Youve got mail. Past could be The Seven Samurai, 300, Beowulf(Poem Not Movie). Present can be THe Simpsons, Family Guy, Jurassic Park. Stormy Weather could be from Pirates of th Carribean 3 where Davy Jones, and the Bretheren Court fight in the storm, and Maelstrom. If I could Create a scary setting, I would probably base it in Loch Ness, imagine being surrounded by fog while out on a boat in the Middle of Loch Ness, being fog is surrounding you, you cants see the shore, suddenly there is a break in the fog and you can se the hump of a mysterious object swimming toward you. The boat tips over and thats it for you.

Setting is when and where something took place. Some mysterious settings were Goosebumps novels and the movie "The Hills have Eyes." Each of these were suspenseful and kept you on the end of your seat(that is unless you were laying down.) Movies often have stormy or bad weather to show a character's struggles even more than they already are. One example is a movie called "Dead Silence." It is a movie about a ventriloquist and her dolls. The dolls come to life and if you scream they will kill you and steal your voice. As the protagonist of the story is trying to get away from them it starts raining. If I could create a movie, I would make a horror movie because they are my favorite. The setting of my story would be in the desert in the year 1994.

I have read many stories they all have diferent settings. All authors inculed the setting in books for example in Where the Red Fern Grows is a book about the past but the nerator is telling it as if he was a child agine. It includes wehere what the weather was like when the story took placeand he includes more. Most autheros tell about the past and the futuer insteded of the peresent. I would creat a scarry setting it would take place in the 1800's and all over the united states

The setting is very important to a story. The setting actually makes the story. One of the mysterious. settings is from any of the books Goosebumps. All of them are very cool. I have never really read a book or saw a movie that had a futuristic setting except Back to the Future. A romantic setting is in "The Notebook". The only futuristic show I know of is "Futurama". It's is very funny too. A show from the past is "Happy Days". A present show is almost any show that is on now. For example the show "Pyshc".

An example of a stormy setting is in "The True Confessions of Charolette Doyle". In this novel they experience a storm while they're aboard a ship. It made it very hard for them to get anywhere.

If I could choose a scary setting in a book it would be some place in the woods. I can't think of a time period so any period would be fine.

The setting creates the mood of the story. A mysterious setting would be in all the Harry Potter Books because they all take place at Hogwart's Castle. A scary setting was in the movie I Am Legend, where all of Manhattan was destroyed. A futuristic setting was in all of the Stars Wars movies because of all the technology. A romantic setting was in Tuck Everlasting when Jessie and Whinnie were at the spring swimming.
An example of the past in a story was in the Diary of Anne Frank during Nazi Germany. An example of a present setting would be in Tuck Everlasting when Tuck and Mae return to look for Whinnie and how the town has changed from 70 years ago to today. A furturistic setting would be in I Am Legend and Manhattan is destroyed.
A stormy setting is in most of Harry Potter books and it relates to Harry's struggle between good and evil.
If I could create story it would be a scary story. It would take place in a run down creepy old house. The weather would be warm and stormy. There would be a lot kids going to a Halloween Party at the house and the house would be haunted.

The setting of something is time and place the event occurs. A mysterious book series is Nancy Drew. In these books, she is kind of a detective finding clues. A futuristic setting is in the movie Meet The Robinsons. In this movie, the characters travel into the future to see what it is like. And a romantic setting is in these love books that my aunty reads. But I don't know what the series is called. A past setting would be in the TV shows Threes Company. That show hardly comes on any more and is very old. A present setting would be Rachael Ray's day-time coming and talk show. A future setting would be National Treasure 2. I can't remember the name of this movie that I watched but in it there was this family that was traveling to another state when they ran into a snowstorm. The weather prevented them from arriving to their desination at the proper time. If I could create a scary or romantic setting I would have to chose romantic. The romantic setting would be a couple holding hands walkin down the shoreline of a beach as the sun is slowly fading to darkness.

Ummm okay... for mystery I chose "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" the setting was in Paris, France. There was no set date for the time in the book. The scary(yay, my favorite ^^)book would be "Pet Semetary" (scary but sad)the setting was in a place called Ludlow, England, but the setting which made the book(and movie) famous was the Pet(Native American)Cemetary their son was buried in. There was no set date for this book. Futuristic ,hmmm? Futurama could be one, right? The setting is New New York in the year 3000. For romance, I chose "The Flame and The Flower". The story takes place in 1799 In London.
A rain cloud above someone sad's head? I would choose scary, in a creepy old house, with a murder 20x worse than Michael Myers and It combined. (creepy part is, It can transform in your worst nightmares......o.O)

Some settings that are scary from a movie that I have seen is, from "One Missed Call". The setting was in a tunnel with a dead skeleton with a cell phone in his hand. The most mysterious setting that I have ever seen was in "Disturbia" was when the Ashley was following the man that was a killer and he found out. The most romantic setting that I have ever read was in a book called H.R.H. and a princess fell in love with a doctor. Some examples of setting for past, present, and future is flash backs and on "That’s So Raven" she has visions. Yes, in this one movie there was a tornado and the family’s houses and everything got destroyed. If I could create a scary movie I would make it be placed in maybe barns or old buildings. If I could create a romantic movie I would make the setting be on a beach.

The setting of a story is when, where, and what time the story takes place. A futuristic set of books is the Shadow Children Series by Margaret Peterson Haddix. An example of a stormy setting when a character struggles is in the book a Great and Terrible Beauty. It's when Gemma, Pippa, Fee, and Anne go in to the realms and it's raining there and Circe traps Pippa and in order for Gemma, Fee, and Anne to escape they have to leave Pippa in the realms by herself, causing her death. If I could create a scary setting I would most likely have to place the story back in Mid evil times, in the middle of November.

Sometimes there is a very simple setting in a story and other times they are very complex. A mysterious setting might be a dark alley or an old abandoned house. You find these a lot in any kind of story with suspense. A scary setting is when it is stormy outside and u r home alone or if u r in a graveyard. You see these settings a lot in horror films. In any story that it shows what it might be like in the future has a futuristic setting. An example of this is the movie "I Robot." In a book called "The Wedding Planner," there was a romantic setting when the woman was sitting on a bench in the park surrounded by pretty, pink flower petals waiting for her husband. In that book there was also an example of a setting from the past where the widow was having flashbacks of when she was with her husband and it described the older style of clothing and other items surrounding them. The setting is present in most books and movies. When you read about or see these settings they make you feel like it is happening right now. The movie "I Robot" is a great example of a setting of the future. Most of the time when there is stormy weather in a story everything else is going wrong and makes the character believe that there is no hope. If I were to create a romantic setting for a story I would make it be at the end of a war when all of the soldiers are coming home and the husband gets reunited with his wife in a big storm and its raining all over them but they don’t care.

A mystery setting would be in a game because Scooby and his friends get zapped in there. In this one movie this teenagers go to an abandon gas station and I guy goes after them and it was scary. A futuristic setting is when people live on gas planets and other places like that. An example of a setting in the past would be in a slave owner’s house, a present setting is in a person’s house, end a future setting is in a over car. In the movie “Click” Adam Sandler is about to die and he runs out of the hospital into the parking lot while it’s pouring the rain down. If I were to create a scary story the setting would be present day and in a big city or in an abandon building.

A mysterious setting is like when a child gets kidnapped and have no idea where they could be. Then at the end they usually find the child and tie all of the clues together to figure out who stole the child. A setting from the past would be like "Little House on The Prarie" books. Present would be like "America's next Top Model" shows. A futuristic movie would be like "I Robot." I saw a movie about millionaires who lived in L.A, and they had two children. One night a man came through the window and stole their little girl. When the girl woke up it was raining and she tried to escape but it was dark and rainy so she couldn't see where she was going. The man who kidnapped her grabbed her and put her in the back of his car. Therefore, she was unable to escape. If I could create a scary movie, then I would make it in the woods, in the middle of nowhere, in the 1990's.

Setting is the time and place something happens.
Authors and directors often use romance, frightening, and mysterious settings now but many years ago they only really used romance.
I've read "Dolphin Island" which the place setting is on an island, the weather changes from really sunny to rainy back to sunny, and the time would be like only from January to May, day to night as only a book should.
The movies I’ve seen with a mystery feel and a scary feel to them would be like the three “SAWS” which you have no idea what is going to come next.
I’ve seen so many movies with some kind of weather I really can’t name them all……

Setting has a great impact on the characters in a story. If you didn’t have a scary setting in a scary story, such as a dark forest, it wouldn’t be scary anymore. If you didn’t have a romantic setting in a romance novel, such as a candle lit bedroom, it wouldn’t be so romantic anymore. It wouldn’t make much since if you were writing a futuristic book and the setting was in the 1920’s. In the movie “Dead Silence” the setting was in an old abandon theatre, it made the movie very scary. In the movie “The Notebook” if Noah had been on a desert instead of a house it wouldn’t have been so romantic. In the movie “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” Harry and his friends went into an underground chamber, which made it very mysterious. In the TV show “Futurama” it wouldn’t be so futuristic if they didn’t live in space ships. In the movie “The Wizard of Oz” if the storm wouldn’t have come they wouldn’t have gone on the yellow brick road.

An example on present is the movie Juno it takes place present day. And finally for future the movie I Am Legend it takes place in the future. If I could create a scary movie it would take place in the future. It would be about zombies from the past. In the movie Titanic the icy weather makes the boat crash so that is my example of weather. An example of a romantic setting is in "the notebook" when they go on the boat. An example of a futuristic setting is in "meet the Robinsons". An example of a mysterious setting is "the secret window". On Phil of the Future there are a lot of times where the setting is in the future. On almost any other show, like Degrassi, there are in the present. An example of a show from the past is I Love Lucy. In the notebook it starts to storm while they are yelling at each other but then they tell each other they still love each other. I would choose a romantic setting and it would be a very clear day by a lake having a picnic, and it would be in the 1970's.

Setting is a very important part of a story. Without setting, the story couldn’t exist, or if it did it would be very boring. The setting includes: time period, location, and weather among other things. In a story like the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the setting is crucial. The story is all about the “realm” in which most of the story takes place. In Narnia, time passes much faster than it does in the real world. In the story, a witch has put the land of Narnia in an eternal winter. This story is a perfect example of why setting is so important to a story. The description of the setting sets the tone and mood the characters feel in the story. The environment in the novel is symbolic for what is taking place in the story and with the characters.
A story that is set in the past would be The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. This story takes place in the 1800’s in a time period in which kids played marbles as a pastime and walked to school. The books and TV show Gossip Girl is an example of a story that takes place in present day New York City where money and status symbols mean everything to a group of well-to-do high school girls. Their private school and society influences them to often try to be someone else besides themselves. The setting of fancy clubs, expensive homes and hotels and hot spots of Manhattan gives the reader the ability to imagine what it would be like to live there. The movies Star Wars would be an example of a futuristic setting. The characters of Star Wars fly and battle aliens in space ships with light-sabers between different galactic worlds.
If I were writing a scary story, the setting would be in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The climax of the story would be at night, perhaps with a fog or mist n the air. In the present day small town, there isn’t a lot to truly fear. However in my story, something would enter the town and the fear would tear the town apart.
If I were the author writing a romantic novel, my story would end with a beautiful spring day in present day times. But I would try to throw in some plot twist so that it isn’t just your typical romance novel.
In conclusion, setting not only tells when and where the story takes place but can also influence the characters decisions, makes scenes more symbolic and sets the mood of the novel.

An example of a scary setting would be putting a character in a dark basement in a haunted house, and an example of a romantic setting would be a couple on the beach watching a sunset. A setting from the past could involve settlers on the frontier. one from the present could involve a paintball fight in the woods, and one from the future could involve major technological uses. In "The Perfect Storm" the character is trapped in a major storm out on the sea. The character has to survive the powerful storm in his fishing boat. If I could create a scary setting somewhere it would be somewhere in a graveyard with bats flying around. I would make this scene on Halloween just to add extra twist to the setting.

The most mysterious move I have ever seen is the move "Lady in the Water". The movie is supposed to be scary, but it is very mysteriuos. The movie that I think is the scariest is "The Hitcher". Most people think that movie is not scary, but the scary parts always come all of a suuden. You can't tell when or where they are coming. Futuristic movies are "Back to the Future" the series. The movie I pick for the romantic setting is the movie "Eddie's Romance" It is a very old movie, but it is the only movie I can think of off the top of my head.

The "past" and "present" movie I pick for an example is "Alvin and the Chimpmunks" There was an older version of the movie and noe theres a newwer version of is. The future movie would have to be Mad Money because it is coming out soon and it will be awesome. Sometime in the future.. I can't think of a stormy setting in a movie, but I would pick Niagra Falls for a romantis setting..

This video is very classic.Normally you can tell where the main setting of a story is. This is because the author may state the exact time and place but if he does not then you can probably tell. You would be able to tell by what kind of clothes, utensiles that they use, and the type of weather. When you here romantic what do you think of? I think of flowers, love, and cute boys but in a romantic movie there can be many different backgrounds. For example a romance could be something like a two teenagers and one of them arent very wealthy but the other comes from a very rich and well-non family. Then later on in there lifetime they fall in love. There are many ways to state romances and even other stories.

Thunder and lightning were also going on in the background. Settings from the past are usually an old feeling or make you picture them in black and white. Also, they might take place in a building that doesn't exist now days like a saloon. Settings from the present usually make you feel like it could have happened today. Settings from the future usually include hover cars or things that could not be possible today. When the characters were about to get into trouble the author would make these feelings present. The setting of a scary movie that I could make would be in a graveyard or in a deserted mansion. I would probably make my story in the present because I know most about it.

This is an interesting blog about setting some examples of setting is time, place and some writers even dates theses are only some of the many. Settings are in movies, and books and any other kind of stories the settings plays a major roll in a movie like the movie Air bud plays soccer it can't take place in a mall right there tells you how much the setting means in a story or movie. Also a scary movie can't take place in a nice peaceful place that’s what a setting is and that’s how much it means. So if you ask me what a setting is that’s what I’d tell you

Some examples of settings for mysterious books could be a crime scene or an unknown world. Examples for a scary movie setting could be haunted house or an abandoned ghost ship. Some examples for futuristic and romance novels could be the future or at a secret lovers house. An example from the past, present, or future form TV and movies could be I AM LEGEND because they show flash backs, show his life now, and what happens in the future. I can think of a bunch of examples where a storm could represent a characters struggles throughout a book. For example, THE PRINCESS DIARIES story about Mia could be thought of as a storm. Her life isn’t that bad but, then all at once, her life turns up-side down. Towards the end, she finally manages to gain control and move on with her life. That struggle could be seen as a strom. If I could create a scary setting for a story, I would chose a place where death accured and it would take place in the past.

An example of a mystewrious movie that I have seen would probably be "One Missed Call." I really like this movie because you really felt like you had to find out because it was so weird how someone could call you and see what you sounded like when you died. It was very weird because it ended up being a ghost going throygh the phone which was something I never exspected it to be.

An example of a scary movie that I have seen would be "The Blare Witch Project." It was very, very, very scary. It also made the movie even more scary thinking about because it said that it was a true story, which freaked me out.

I can't really think of a futoristic one that I have seen or a peom, book or novel that I have read.

A romantic example would be "The Notebook." I thought it was very romantivc where they kissed in the rain.

One very good movie that was from the past was "The Miracle Worker." A movie from the present would probably be mean girls because now we have a lot of cliques and things like that.

For a scary movie's setting I would probably choose the woods and caves and things like that so they could get stuck there and things would be in the caves.

The first sentence of the blog couldn't be any more correct. The setting of the story is pretty much everything; Imagine a book without a setting. There wouldn't be a time, place, or much people, proving that this element of the art is one to behold. One example of setting is the mood; as mysterious as any good Nancy Drew book, as scary as "The Curse of Amontillado", and (if you lived in the mid 1970s, maybe even today,) as futuristic as the Jetsons. Another field of setting is the time frame we are talking about. This feel, is past and future, such as the historical flashbacks and modern day problems such as "Holes". If I could create a romantic setting, it would be the end scene from "Gone With the Wind".

Setting is a very important part of every movie, television show, or book. The setting, I think, most of the time makes the entire plot interesting.

Some of my favorite movies are the Harry Potter movies. The music and setting give suspense to the movies. In some parts of the movie they are in dark areas of the castle, or in the dark forest. Even the name "Dark Forest" sound scary.

I do not know what the movie is called, but it does have a scene when a girl is running from a car that is chasing her. There is a horrible thunder storm going on.

If I were to create a scary setting for a story I think it would take place somewhere dark like woods, or a spooky house.

There are many settings of stories. Some are creepy some are happy some are even depressing. In the movie "1 missed call". The setting is scary in some parts. Other parts are strange. One part is when the main character walks in to a semi-burned hospital. Its all dark and there insects all over. There’s no one else in the hospital then all of a sudden........ (Don’t what to rune it for you). Another example is in the book "The Last Battle" At the end all the animals and half people split in to two groups. The sun is starting to die. Aslan the great lion makes a door in thin air. One group follows Aslan. The other group just stood there and watched as darkness surrounded them. (Pretty intense)
There are also setting that take place in different time periods. I read this one book were they were in the future and they were living on a space station. I’ve also read some were it was in the past during the Civil War. Stories also can take place during the present. I can not think of a book but it will come back to me.

If I could make a story I would make a scary position. I don’t like scary all that much but im not in to the whole romantic thing. I would make the story setting in the present and probly some were around West Virginia. (There not of movies about WV that’s why I would choose here.)

Setting is the time and/or the place of where something takes place.

Some examples of settings from movies are:

Romantic: The Notebook~ in a boat in the rain ( my favorite example(: )
Scary- Ghostship~ on a fancy vacation cruise ship
Mysterious- National Treasure~ Washington D.C.
Futuristic- Meet the Robinsons~ in the city (its a Disney movie)

An example of stormy weather in a movie and the stuggles it caused the chracters are: "The Notebook", which led the characters to have a 'wet' date ;], "Freddy v.s. Jason",<---(some scenes) which made it harder to fight because Jason dies in water( i think its him;]), and "Pirates of the Carribean",<--- (most of them), because its was harder for them to battle in the rain and thunder and lightning. (:

I have read lots of books that are mystery( my fave type ), romantic, scary, and futuristic, but I just perfer the movie instead. (:

Setting is an integral part of any literary work. An example of a mysterious setting would be the movie
"Pet Cemetery." A movie with a scary setting is " The House on Haunted Hill." " Blade Runner," has a futuristic setting. " The Notebook," the best movie ever, has an extremely romantic setting.

The movie " Indian Summer," has a setting from the past. " Juno," is a movie from the present state. A movie that takes place in the future is "Star Wars."

" The Day After Tomorrow," is an example of characters struggling against a storm. There is a huge storm in New York City, and then the water freezes. The friends and family have to go through the impossible to get to each other.

If I were to create a scary movie setting I would make the movie setting in or around the ocean. The reality of being in water with no surrounding land, and not having the ability to touch the ground is so scary.

A good romantic setting would be in a small town in a beautiful home; with the person you love most. AWWWWWWWWW........

They all have everything you'd want in a book. The setting is in a very rainy town called Forks, Washington. I love the setting of the books it makes the book more interesting. If I had to chose a romantic and scary setting I definetly would have chose a mysterious rainy place like Forks, Washington. I love that kind of drama and that makes the book worth reading. Another favorite book of mine is "Bloom". It's more of a drama and it takes place in a little town in a housing delvelopment. The setting always shapes the book.

Mysterious books that I have read have been Secret History. Scary books that I have read are Tell Tale Lilac Bush. I haven't read any futuristic books. Romantic setting books that I have read are The Clique novels. Even though they are drama filled, they still have some romantic scenes.

Past television shows I have seen Fresh Prince of Bellaire. Present television shows I have watched before are Real World, TRL, I Love New York 2, and many more. Futuristic television shows are That's so Raven.

There is one book that I have read that is called Family Reunion. It's about a family that never gets to see each other, and for the first time in forever, they have a family reunion. The main characters little brother sets of bombs all the time, and when he is setting on of at the family reunion, it starts to rain. So the family reunion is ruined one way or the other.

If I could choose a romantic setting for a movie, it would have to take place in Rome.

A mysterious book that I've read was Nancy Drew. A scary book that I’ve read was the Stephen King collection. Tuck Everlasting was a very romantic book.

Past television shows that I like are Fresh Prince and Family Matters. Present shows are Flavor of Love 3 and Hannah Montana. Future television shows are That's so Raven.

Shilow is an example of stormy weather to a relationship to a character's struggles.

If I a had to create a romantic movie, it would have to take place eighther in Paris or Barcelona.

ummm... I can't really recall some mysterious, scary, futuristic or romantic settigns rigt of the top of my head, but setting is the most imoprtant part of the book. If you didn't know the setting of the sroty, you would be really lost. If I could create a scary,or romantic setting for a story,I would make it happen on the beach in the middle of the summer. When the sun just started to set and the water is warm and blue.

I cant think of mysterious settings. I did read part of a book called "When the Wind Blows" and there was a scary setting were a man was looking for a girl and her brother and she did not know were her brother was but she was hiding in a tree and the man wanted to kill them and she has to find her brother before he did.
I cant think of any past present or future settings. In the "Wizard of Oz" there is a tornado that puts her into a different place in the movie and book. A scary setting for a movie or a book would be in a cemetary in the middle of the night.
