I choose the picture of the U.S. Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima of World War II. I can imagine the tension so thick in the air; the realization yet to dawn on them that this is historical. There would be so much pride swelling inside them after the war and the small sense of dread from the act of killing. For the people who wish they were in this picture, it’s their life, their dream of being important. Some are glad to give their life and services to this cruel world. And it reminds me of who gives their life for America. This photograph won the Pulitzer Prize for Photography and was taken in February of 1945. Raising the flag of America would make the men feel huge because it’s a pretty significant event. Anyone would feel joy from the outcome of the image being used later by Marine Felix de Weldon to sculpt the 1954 Marine Corps War Memorial, located adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery just outside Washington, D.C. It, in itself, is a legacy. ~Karinna Fazenbaker 6&7

There were many photos of our world’s past that made me think of “What is this picture even about?” I choose the photo of the Wright Brother’s masterpiece. The airplane! This photograph was taken on December 17th of 1903 at Kitty Hawk. This picture shows the moment of air travel's birth. This was the brothers first time using an engine for the plane. There were many trials of different planes but all were fails. The plane had a wing span of 40.3 feet. That’s pretty short compared to today’s planes! The engine for the plan had an engine with the horsepower of 12. Wilbur was thirty six years old and Orville was only thirty two years old they flew their first successful flight. Their father was against their theory on flying. He had said, “It is impossible for men in the future to fly like birds. Flying is reserved for the angels. Do not mention that again lest you be guilty of blasphemy.” But he was incorrect. I am very happy that the Wright Brothers had made flight possible because it is an easy and faster way to travel to faraway places. -Elijah Posey 6/7

I chose the picture of the footprint. That was a picture of the first living person to walk on the moon and his name was Neil Armstrong. This picture shows that we are a superior and lucky country because we are able to land the first people on the moon. This mission was called “Apollo 11” The three to have this amazing chance were Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Neil and Buzz were the lucky ones. They were the ones who got to go down on the moon, while Collins was up in the shuttle doing experiments and taking experiments. While Neil and Buzz were down there they put an American flag on the moon and left a sign that said “Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind.” This was all broadcast live throughout all of the United States. I believe this was the most important period in our history.

I choose the picture of the marines in world war two. Just imagine the tension they all had. The war was very miserable they had infections, loss of friends, and them going crazy! I think it would be hard living in those conditions. I've always wondered if that flag was heavy or not. They all fight for our country and that's why they put the flag up. I've wondered if their clothes were heavy. All of them had a dream, a dream to help others, a dream that would make others free, the result... freedom. And that's what I think about them putting up the flag

I chose the picture of the suicide jumper of 9/11. It's important because it showed what they would do escape. I mean they could burn in a pain full death or take the easy way out. Its a really big deal in American history. All the families, friends, rescuers and rescue dog died drying to safe people or were in the building. Would do anything to bring those people back. It's the fist time America stood silent and prayed. As the to greatest master pieces and people crash to the ground. That's when American flags ever in the country were sold out? That was true patriotism.I think this is the most depressing thing and just think what it was like for the people who lost someone.

I chose the picture of the sailor kissing a woman. This picture was taken on Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day) in Times Square, New York on August 14, 1945. The official United States celebration is not on this date, however it is on September 2, the date of the formal signing of surrender. This picture was taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt, and some other names for it are The Kiss, V-Day, and V-J Day in Times Square. This photograph was later published in Life with the caption “In New York’s Times Square, a white-clad girl clutches her purse and skirt as an uninhibited sailor plants his lips squarely on hers.” The picture clearly doesn’t show the faces of the two people, and several people have claimed that it is them. In the late 1970s, Edith Shain wrote to Eisenstaedt claiming to be the woman in the picture. In August 1945 Edith was working in a hospital when she and a friend heard that World War II had ended. They went down to Times Square to celebrate. When they got there a sailor grabbed her and kissed her. Since the identity of the woman was claimed, the magazine was asking for the sailor to claim his. Eleven men claimed they were the kisser, but George Mendonca was the one. He was identified by a team of volunteers who matched up his tattoos and scars.

I choose the picture know as "Tank Man". It was taken in Beijing, China, on June 5, 1989,this was one day after the Chinese government's violent crackdown on the Tiananmen protests. The photo itself speaks a thousand words very loud, just one man making a stand without violence. I believe that this was a very selfless act and that he was standing for mankind all over the world. I wish that more people all over the world would show and excise non-violent support for problems. I think that guns are necessary, but they are not the solution to all issues that we face. This photograph is a perfect example of how one person can change the world.

I chose the picture of the guy jumping out of the building in 9/11. It is not a very happy thing to talk about at all. well I chose it because its important and a very sad time. people were killed for some people whom were so selfish. We still have that memory who jammed it in our heads. every 9/11 in school out of school we all have a moment of silence. I can only imagine the family's who have to mourn this day every day.

I decided to choose the picture of The Beatles walking on Abbey Road, London. This is the picture cover of the album Abbey Road. There is a big conspiracy on that actual photo. As The Beatles are shown walking across the road, there was a lot of talk saying that Paul was dead at that time. There had been a rumor that " Paul was dead". In January, Paul was in a car crash, and everyone were saying that Paul had died. A college student even claimed that there were clues to McCartney's supposed death could be found among the lyrics of the Beatles' songs. The Beatles had decided to take the picture, which was considered to have represented death or a funeral. Paul was wearing sandals in the shoot and decided to kick them off before walking across the road. Whenever the picture was released, fans went crazy. The album was considered the best album of The Beatles, and was number one on the charts. The song Something written by George Harrison was even the best song he ever wrote.

Unknown said...

I chose the picture of the Beatles taken on August 8th, 1969. This photo would become one of the most famous shoots of their career. The Beatles were an English rock band that consisted of four men. The group came together in 1960 in Liverpool. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star made up what is known to be The Beatles. They soon became the most successful act of the 20th century. This particular photograph was taken for their album cover, Abbey Road. Iain Macmillan was the one who took this picture, which was none like his sketch before the shoot. The captured moment of the four men is still a sensation, you can tell by the price it is selling for! Many fans gathered at Abbey Road to celebrate 40 years since the photo was taken. The Beatles were a hit in the 1900's and many of us are still Beatles fans today!

The Beatles were a famous rock band in the 1960s and 70s. Some of their most famous songs were Let It Be and Hey Jude. They were formed in Liverpool, England. The Beatles are among the most popular bands of all time. The members were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They were often called the "fab four". The Beatles' conquest of America in 1964 triggered The British Invasion, a period of time of rock and roll bands from Britain that overtook the charts in America. The Beatles' first number one single in America was "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Abbey Road is the Beatles' best- known album and it was also the last album they recorded together. Many people think that Paul McCartney was replaced on the album cover with a look-alike. This was brought up because he died that same year the album was released. There were theories about the album giving 'clues' as to Paul's death. The Beatles never confirmed these rumors.

I chose the picture of Albert Einstein. He was one of the smartest person to live. Did you know As a child, Einstein revealed an extraordinary curiosity for understanding the mysteries of science started only at age 10/11. Also A typical child only to his socio-economic class educated middle class. Einstein took music lessons, playing both the violin and piano a passion that followed him into adulthood. Moving first to Italy and then to Switzerland, the young prodigy graduated from high-school in 1896. One of his quotes were “Enjoying the joys of others and suffering with them—these are the best guides for man.” He to this day is still know has "The Greasiest mind today."

I chose the picture of surgery being performed on unborn baby. This picture was taken on July 1, 1999. To perform this surgery the uteras of Trish Switzer had to be lifted out of her body. Sarah Switzer was diagnosed with spina bifida at 21 weeks. This is a crippling and sometimes life threatening disease. If the surgery went wrong, Sarah could die before she was born. Although this surgery was pretty much an experiment, Trish and Mike Switzer felt they had no other choice. They agreed to the surgery. Sarah was born almost 2 months after the surgery, on August 22, 1999. I can't even imagine how Mike was feeling on this scary day. Both his wife and his unborn child were under anesthesia, undergoing a risky procedure.

I choose the picture of the guy jumping out of the building during 9/11. During the 9/11 terrorists attacks were set upon the twin towers, the pentagon, and in another unknown place. People where trapped inside of the towers during the plane hits. Smoke from the planes caused it to be hard to breath for those who were stuck in the building. Some people would call their families to tell them that they loved them because they knew they were going to die. Many firefighters died during 9/11 for their bravery while trying to save the people. Some people near the top of the building ,who were stuck, thought they only had one way to survive. The way out for them was to jump out the large building. Those who did jump surely died the moment they impacted with the ground. Many people died during the 9/11 but that didn't cause the people of America to give up. The destruction of the world trade centers was cleaned up and now a memorial is in their place.

I choose the picture of the U.S. Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima of World War II. During the bloody Battle for Iwo Jima, U.S. Marines from the 3rd Platoon, E Company, 2nd Battalion, 28th Regiment of the 5th Division take the crest of Mount Suribachi. It was the coolest picture i have ever seen. They are showing they won and the japanese lossed. Rosenthal took three photographs atop Suribachi. This war was the second war we faught aginsed the japs. We won all the wars. this picture was when we beat them in Iwo Jima. It was really bloody they say you reallydon't know. feburay 19 - march 26 or 1945 was when the Battle of Iwo Jima happend

I choose the photo of the men at the concentration camp. The concentration camps were for the Jews because the Nazis didn't like Jews because of what they believed in. The Nazis would go into the Jews house take them to a train station pack them in so tight in the train car some of them would die before they even arrived. Wow! that's harsh. For the ones who did survive, they would put the Jews in line and the older people would go take a "shower" while the younger people went to their cabins. When I say shower I mean a gas shower that was so hot it would kill you. They would only kill you because you were too old to work for the amount they wanted out of you. After The younger ones went past the line you were put in a cabin with many people. You would then have to work every hour of the day for the Nazis the rest of your life. Even if you were a child they still made you work. The Nazis would split families up all the time just so they could work properly. Then if you didn't do your work to their expectations they could kill you.

I chose the picture of The Beatles walking across the street. It’s the cover to their album Abbey Road. It was their last album ever recorded. I think it is cool because it was right outside their recording studio. They did it in almost 10 minutes. They had to do it fast because they didn’t want to hold up traffic for very long. At around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 8, 1969 they did it. I really like the Beatles and I think this picture is really cool.

Ever since he was younger than us, it was clear that Albert Einstein would grow up to be a smart man. He was born on March 14, 1879 in Ulm, Württemberg, Germany. By the time he was only about 10, he had an extreme interest in science. He had a passion for violin and piano ever since he learned to play them. In 1905, Einstein's "miracle year," he created his famous equation "e=mc2." In 1921 he had earned his Nobel Prize in Physics. In summer of 1933, he had moved to Princeton, NJ, US. In 1955, Einstein had passed away in his current hometown. However, his fame did not pass away as quickly. In 1999, TIME Magazine had recognized him as "Person of the Century."

Before I begin my ACTUAL, serious, blog, does anyone one else agree that, for some of these pictures, the music is extremely ironic? No? OK.

Muhammad Ali is a former american boxer. He was an amazing one to boot, with the nicknames like “The Greatest”, and “The People’s Champion”. He is considered, as one of his nicknames suggest, the greatest american boxer of all time. And I totally agree!

He is also known for his social aspects such as religious freedom, anti-racism, etc, etc. He was a truly loved and respected man, who made a huge impact on the community for the better. He definitely deserved his fame.

I don’t know exactly who he knocked out in the picture, for he knocked out many, but I do know it was another great KO. Just another example of his success. In fact, in fighting men and social injustice, every action he took ended in success.

I chose 9/11; the time of the fall of the twin towers. There is not much to the picture. However it serves much of a historic memory. The man who jumped knew he would live. He just waited in anticipation to finally reach the bottom. People ran for their lives, fleeing the scene. Other people stayed to help knowing that they might die. A lot of people did die that day. In memory, we put a memorial down. Just imagine if you were in the burning building. You feel all of the tenseness and adrenaline going through you. You are trying to find your way out, but you still have the thought in your head that it is all over for you. So you jump. That is what most likely was going through this man’s mind. After he did, he might have felt regret; or maybe not I don’t know. What I do know is that as a country, we built ourselves back up. Then we continued even stronger than the last time. That’s what America does.

I chose to do the event 9/11. The picture I selected is the picture where the guy is standing on top of one of the World Trade Centers with the plane in the background. This picture is worth over 1,000 words. This guy was standing there getting his picture taken and he didn't know that a plane was coming right towards him. Can you believe if you turned around and a plane was coming straight at you? I would be really terrified and won't know what to do. It is really sad how many people died in this terrorist incident. There were approximately 3,000 people who died in this tragedy on September 11, 2001. This is one of the most memorable events in our nation's life. Our nation was definitely changed after this day.

I chose to write about Albert Einstein's photo. It was taken on March 14, 1951. It was after his 72nd birthday celebration. The photographers gathered around him with their cameras, but only got one picture. It was the silly one we all have seen today! We usually recognize him with his crazy hair. That's how it is in the picture. Einstein sent this photo to friends on greeting cards. It's weird to think the nobel prize-winning physicist is sticking out his tongue for a picture! Einstein showed us that even someone as brilliant as he was could still have a humorous side. He passed away in 1955 at the age of 76.

I chose the photo of the Nebula (the second photo) for my blog this week.

I, personally, really enjoy photos taken in outer space. I think it shows some of the the utmost natural beauty and complexity. Along with those things, Nebulae also show life. Nebulae are where new stars are born. I just really love how photos like this one display untouched beauty. To me, this would definitely be one of the greatest photos of all time. It represents natural beauty and the complexity of nature. These are the reasons why I chose to do my blog on the Nebula photo.

In 1969, American Neil Armstrong has become the first man to walk on the moon. The astronaut stepped onto the moon's surface, in the sea of Tranquility, at 0256 GMT, nearly 20 minutes after first opening the hatch on the Eagle landing craft. Armstrong had earlier reported the lunar module's safe landing at 2017 GMT, with the words 'Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed.' As he put his left foot down first Armstrong declared, 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.' He described the surface as being like powdered charcoal and the landing craft left a crater about a foot deep. by . Taylor Odell 4/5th period

I chose the picture of Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein was a German physicist who developed the theory of relativity. He changed the way we think about relativity. He created a new science of cosmology. Albert and Leo Szilard wrote a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt about the possibility of a Nazi bomb. The letter is believed to have motivated the U.S. to investigate the development of nuclear weapons. Soon after the U.S. initiated the Manhattan Project. Albert did so much more than just that. He changed other laws. Albert is considered the most influential physicist of the 20th century. Albert Einstein changed the way we think about science.

I chose the first step on the moon for my picture. This picture represents a big step for all of us and in history. Three lucky people were sent to the moon and these people were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin Aldrin Jr. On July 16, 1969 at 9:32 p.m., people everywhere watched them land on the moon. It was a historical and exciting moment for everyone and everywhere. The mission was a success and since then more people have landed on the moon. This success signified that we came a far way and still got ways to go to reach even better success.

The photograph that I have chosen , was the man jumping out of the twin towers when they got launched by the Islamic terrorists group upon the United States on 9/11 in new York City. It was such a tragic day on November 11, 2001. The four planes were hijacked by four terrorists. On that day almost 3,000 people were killed. It’s horrible to think how people sacrificed their lives to try to save one another by getting out of those tall burning buildings. Lots of people lost members of their families and friends. But not only did we lose a lot of people , it also caused $10 billion in property and structure building damage.

I chose the picture of the atomic bomb when it was erupting. The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki happened on August 6, and 9th 1945. The location of the bomb was in Japan. The result of the bomb was the allies victory. The bomb was conducted by the United States during the final stage of World War II. Within the first two to four months of the bombings, 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima died. About 60,000-80,000 people died in Nagasaki. Almost half of the deaths in each city happened during the first day of the bombing. During the following months, large numbers of people died from effect of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries. On September 2nd, they signed the instrument of surrender, ending World War II.

The picture I am choosing for this blog is the one of a man jumping out of the twin towers. The twin towers were two buildings that looked exactly the same and were right beside each other. There were people who had planned to attack the building by crashing a plane into them. This picture is showing a person jumping out of one of the towers. They say people were jumping out the windows because they didn't want to burn to death. This part in history was very hard for many people because a lot died in the attack. The date of when this happened was on 9/11/2001. I was just born, I wasn't even one yet. Many people I know had people that were working in the twin towers or were supposed to be in there but were not. The twin towers were very high but people didn't care and they just jumped out.

I think The Beatles were a big part of society back then and still is now. The Beatles were an English rock band. They formed in Liverpool, in 1960. The members were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and, Ringo Star. They became widely regarded as the greatest and most influential act of the rock era. Rooted in the 1950s rock and roll. The Beatles later experimented with several genres, ranging from pop to hard rock, often including classical elements. They have had more number-one albums on the British charts and sold more singles in the UK than any other act. I thought that was pretty cool myself. In conclusion, I think that The Beatles were a huge influence on society.

I chose the picture of the person jumping out of the window from the World’s Trade Center. The picture was taken on September 11th 2001 after two planes had crashed into the Twin Towers. This picture is important to me because it shows one of the many people who jumped thinking either way they were going to die. It shows just how much fear the people felt because they’d rather jump to their death than die from suffocation or heat exhaustion. You can almost feel the fear when you see the picture. It’s especially hard to see people jumping out the windows holding each other or holding hands. It was such a stupid act that didn’t have to happen to take all those lives. I can’t even imagine how terrible it would’ve been to be there that day. Pictures like this are very hard to see, but they are awesome to help us never forget all the people who lost their lives.

I chose to write about the picture of the Hindenburg exploding. The Hindenburg was a German commercial airship that transported passengers. It was made by the Zeppelin Airline Company, and was the largest passenger aircraft ever constructed. It began flying in March, 1936. Fourteen months later, it was destroyed. It left Frankfurt, Germany on May 3, 1937 to fly across the Atlantic Ocean to Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey. Three days later, on March 6, 1937, as it was preparing to land, disaster occurred. Hydrogen gas and fumes began leaking, and an electrical spark caught it, causing the Hindenburg to go up in flames, leaving nothing but skeletal remains. A total of 36 people died in the accident. This disaster caused doubt in the public's confidence in the airships, which resulted in the end of the era of airships.

It is an image that captured an epic moment in U.S. history - a sailor locked in a passionate kiss with a nurse in New York City's Times Square at the end of World War II, sixty-seven years ago. Recently the two have met agin in the very spot where the photo graph was taken. In the background, peering over the sailors right is his soon to be wife, they did not know each other at the time. Nor did the two kissing in the middle of Times Square ,total strangers. I believe the significance of this photo is check your surroundings because the person right behind you may be you future husband or wife. Also an act you have never imagined to become famous such as a kiss can.

I chose the picture of two African-American men being hanged. Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith were lynched in Marion, Indiana on August 7th, 1930. The night before, the two men were charged for robbery, the murder of Claude Deeter, and the rape of Mary Ball. The afternoon Thomas and Abram were put into jail, thousands of people broke into the jail with tools such as sludge hammer's and crowbars. Police were unable to prevent the people from taking the men out of jail and lynching them. There was a third person, James Cameron, who was also in jail. He somehow escaped, but then the mob found him. He pleaded for mercy and prayed to God. The mob had already pushed him up the tree and had the rope around his neck, but a Marion citizen said he was innocent. For some unknown reason, the mob didn't hang him. Cameron was moved out of town and served four years in jail. The case was never solved. James Cameron did go on to become a civil rights activist. He believes the voice and the crowd that saved him was voice of an angel. He died on June 11, 2006 at the age of 92 and had three children.

I chose the picture of the Albert Einstein the peculiar physicist. Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist, best known for his Special and General Theory of Relativity and the concept of mass-energy equivalence expressed by the famous equation, E = mc2. I know that the last sentence was a mouth full, but there is a reason I stated it. The first thing we think when we hear this man’s name is genius. That was not all ways the case though. As a child, he was always a little different from other children: his head was slightly larger than normal, and he hardly spoke as a young boy, leading one housekeeper to consider him autistic. He had struggled at school, he was an outlaw, and did not care about school. The reason for this is that he disliked the school's policy of strict memorization, which he thought unhelpful. Therefore, outside of school, he explored his own path of learning in mathematics and philosophy with a medical student and friend of the family, Max Talmud. This type of teaching lead to the genius he is today. That is why I think he was so important. This photo was taken on March 14, 1951 of Einstein at the end of his 72nd birthday party. He had accomplished so much by this age and friends and colleagues were celebrating him. After Cameraman Arthur Sasse tried to get one last picture before the night of partying, ended Einstein gave him this exasperated face that is forever etched in history as one of his most famous photos. Einstein himself liked the photo so much he had prints made that he used for his greeting cards back when people still wrote to each other.

I believe that the baby in the picture with vulture tells us what really happens in poor countries. It is horrific that you are so poor you can't afford food for your baby. When a vulture waits for a kid to die that means the circumstances need to change drastically. Not mention the baby is alone in wild because the mom could have lost it or worse died. The fact that it's not just this one kid either many other die too. This shows how much we need to help.

The photo that I chose was taken in March 1993 by a photographer named Kevin Carter. He made a trip to southern Sudan which is where the photo was taken. The picture was of a vulture stalking and preying on a Sudanese toddler. The photo went viral and soon people began to question what happened to the little girl and they realized how bad starvation is. The journalists that went to Sudan were not allowed to touch the people that were suffering the famine because they could get diseases. So all Carter could do was chase the bird away and leave the little girl there. Carter won the Pulitzer Prize for this photo. Three months later because of the questions about the little girl's fate and from the "hauntings" that he saw in Sudan, he commited suicide. I picked this photo because you could feel the pain and sadness for not only this little child, but for all the people that suffer in the poverty countries. This photo made people realize how grateful we are and that we can help make the world a better place.

The photograph I chose is the picture with Muhammad Ali because I thought it would be cool. It was a fight between Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston for the boxing world championship in 1964. The fight was in Miami beach Florida. Muhammad Ali had knocked Sonny Liston to the ground . Ali is one of the greatest boxer of all time. He had an recorded of 56-5 and 37 of them where knockouts. His nicknames was the greatest , the people's champion, and the Louisville lip. He talked lots of trash to is other fighters. He liked to do that because it got his opponents worked up and got them out of there game. He retired in 1981 after he lost to Trevor Berbick he then hung the gloves up for good. He wasn't just a great boxer, he was also a person who had strong believes for equality for all people. That's why he is consider the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time).

I picked Neal Armstrong's first step on the moon picture. I feel that this event was one of the most accomplished events of all time. Neal's famous quote as he stepped on the moon struck great things into our hearts. He said, "that's one step for man, and one giant leap for man kind." The minute he stepped on the moon people experienced as we listened or watched this great experience. This point in time was great for everyone that helped in the making of helping this happen. Everyone that worked at NASA helped making sure this would happen. President JFK was talking to them while they were on the moon. As connection lost with them people were scared, but they were okay. I picked this because I feel this is a crucial event that made us believe more of the abilities we have today.

I chose the photo of the Jewish children in Germany. Those children are being punished for a religion that they believe in. They don't deserve that. They don't deserved to be treated that way for what they believe in. It angers me to think of what they have been through. Those children were held up by Nazi that wanted them dead. If they didn't do do, they would be shot. They don't deserve that kind of childhood. That's what I think of that photograph.

The photograph from the video I chose was the 9/11 photo. In this picture, we see a person committing suicide by jumping out of one of the Twin Towers. 9/11 was a very tragic event in American history. Thousands of people lost their lives on this day, and even more people lost family members and friends. The terrorist attack that occurred was led by al-Qaeda. Many people had no choice but to jump out of the towers, falling to their death. Hundreds of firefighters and policemen died trying to save the survivors of this tragedy. Every year, people across the United States take time to remember the innocent victims of this event. Memorials have been built to honor the victims of 9/11. This day in history may be over, but it will never be forgotten.

I am going to do my blog on the lynchings in the south. Lynching is when someone is attacked by a mob of people and hung. There is no reason for lynching. The people that do the lynchings in the south are mostly Ku Klux Klan, (KKK). The KKK are people that are racists and hang black people for the color of their skin. They are cowardly because they can not show their faces. Anyways, I think that lynching is a horrible act of racism. Now, don't think that lynching is always a for of rasism. The definition of lynching is a illegal hanging by a mob of people.

For my blog, I chose the picture of a person jumping out of the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. Nobody expected such a huge day. It was a horrible terrorist attack and a lot of people got killed or injured. Just like the person in the picture, many people had no choise than to just jump. They would rather jump than suffocate in the fumes. People on the streets of New York could barely even breathe, so it must have been nearly impossible to survive the gas and smoke. It's aweful how a day that seems so normal could turn out to be so terrible. These people should've never had to witness that event. It effected a lot of people, even the ones that had nothing to do with it. This is one of the worst events in recent history, and the picture proves it.

I have chosen the Hindenburg disaster of May 6,1937 because it seems very interesting to me. Hindenburg was a disaster that took many lives on May 6,1937, the disaster was a sad day for many Germans and other people who had family on the airship. This is a event in history that should never be forgotten in years to come. I have never really done much research about this but, i have basic knowledge about this event just to let you know.I hope people don't think this was a minor accident when they learn about this. That was my reason for writing this.

I chose the picture of the footprints on the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. Imagine how cool that would be. I would feel honored and like the luckiest person alive if I were the very first human being to walk on a surface that is not on Earth. I can imagine the adrenaline rush I would be having. I would also feel proud to represent our country because we were the first country to have someone walk on the moon. I feel like I would become extremely famous and lucky because I would have made it back alive. I assume that Neil Armstrong is extremely proud and amazed to be the first person to leave their mark on history. Thank you for reading my blog. I hope you enjoyed!

I am choosing the photo of when the Wright Brothers first flew at Kitty Hawk. I learned many things about this photo last summer when I visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. The plane in the photo is actually on display at the museum. The brothers had a coin toss to determine who would be the first to fly the plane. Older brother Wilbur won the coin toss a few days before the first flight. Wilbur’s attempt was unsuccessful and caused minor damage to the aircraft. A few days later, after the damage was repaired, it was Orville’s turn to attempt flight. This is how Orville became the first man to fly.

I chose the picture of the 9/11 suicides. This is a very sad moment in histery for all americans. In that moment there was no black or white we were all shocked and cared just as much. We were more united then as a nation than any othet time. Everyone was shocked by how people had chosen to jump than die in the building. They only had two choices die painful or die quick. Imagine have no way out being traped like a corner deer with no way out. We all have seen the picture of the fire fighters puting up the flag to honer the family and friends who died. It look just like the WW2 photo when they put up the flag. This shows that when we Americans feel we need our spirits raised we resort to insticts.

I chose the picture of the footprint on the moon because that was a super important time in the world. It was showing that we were moving on and progressing. The picture was taken because it was the first time anyone had ever stepped foot on the moon and there were three people who accomplished it. The spaceflight was called Apollo 11 and it was conducted by Neil Armstrong, Micheal Collins and Buzz Aldrin. It took 8 days, 3 hours, and 18 minutes to get from Earth to the Moon. They took off on July 16 , 1969 and laded July 20th 1969. When Neil Armstrong took his first step he said "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Which was absolutely true. If he wouldn't have taken that step a lot of things could be different. Like scientific knowledge for outer space and many other things. It shows that many things in this world are possible so don't be afraid to leap.

When the Holocaust was in affect, a crazy amount of innocent Jewish children and adults were killed and tortured by the Nazi's and the leader Hitler. I choose the picture if the Jewish children because to me that's the most horrific thing of the past and we are going to learn more and more about it each year. Hitler was a great leader. Just for the wrong thing and ended up commiting suicide so he would not have to go through any punishment.

One of the photos which mesmerized me most was the photo of the Eagle Nebula. Known as "Pillars of Creation", this photograph was taken in 1995, and is known to be one of the clearest photographs ever taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The reason the photograph is called that is due to the fact that there are three pillar-like structures, which are part of a nebula. Nebulae are gas and dust clusters which form stars over time, thus the part of where the word "creation" comes from. The word "of" was chosen most likely for dramatic purposes. You must agree that "Creation Pillars" sounds a lot less mysterious and dramatic. Moving on, the pillars are roughly 7000 light years away, meaning that they are now gone in real time, since light as fast as it is, is slow enough that we can see it through means of a telescope, and at Earth in another thousand years. It sucks that we may not live that long, unless we begin working with cybernetic enhancements or time-travel into the future or something. What if dust clouds block out the sky by then? The future raises a lot of questions. Although it is seen as one image, this photograph of the Eagle Nebula is actually thirty-two photographs taken with four cameras. This is also why the top of the photograph is rigid. Really, space just fascinates me, as you saw my blog post two or three times ago was on Sputnik, the first space satellite. Overall, this is helping me with opportunities to learn more about space, which is helping me some. I'm excited to see what else I have to learn! - James Wright 6/7

I have chosen the picture of the two African Americans be hung during the civil right movement. I thought this was a really important picture because it shows that back the not everyone was the same in people eyes and that's not right! Everyone has equally given right and it not far that people where being, burn to death, blowing up churches, and also lynching people for the color of there skin. Like I don't have any idea how someone could be that curl and nasty to some one because the color of there skin! But what even more sickening is that people now a days still hate African Americans. But you know that's how they were grown up to be so it not our right to judge if they don't judge. But back to the topic this civil right moment ended in 1964. It took about four years for the blacks to get there right.

I'm choosing the first step on the moon. It just amazes me how far we've come since then. Who would guess that we would have the technology to send a man to the moon. Ever since then we have learned so much. I just wonder what Neil Armstrong felt when he first took his step. Now look at are rockets and satelites in space. With out that first step on the moon we wouldn't have T.V. and it would be harder to predict stroms. Imangine a life without all of that. For all of that we have Neil Armstrong to thank. So thank you to the men on Apollo 11!

I'm choosing the picture of the 9/11 selfie the guy took and the plane behind him. Just imagine just having a regular day at work then BAM! A plane crashes into your work building. Then you get trapped in the building. We will never forget that terrible day of the World Trade Center was attacked. It was a moment in America that will never be forgotten. I mean people we're jumping out of the building because they couldn't breath. Suicide was their only way out it was quick and painless.

I'm dining my blog on the two African Americans being hung. This was years ago but there was this group called the Klu Klux Klan also known as (KKK) they would go out and fine innocent African Americans and hang them or put crosses in there yards and burn them. This was a terrible time in history

I chose to write about the picture of the first man to walk on the moon. The first mans name was Neil Armstrong. Neil Armstrong spent years trainging for a long journey to the moon with three other people. Two however only got to walk on the moon. One was Neil. The picture I think represents all the technology and how great America is. It symbolizes how America is a country where we can try anything like such. So when I grow up I want to walk on the moon like Neil so I paused the screen and just thought about what it would be like to walk in the moon, like neil.

I chose the picture know as Lunch Atop a Skyscraper, with men sitting and eating paper bag lunches while on their break from building one of the most common massive structures that can be built. This picture was taken during the construction of the RCA building, which would come to be renamed the GE building in 1998, at Rockefeller Center in New York. Their feet are dangling 840 feet above New York City with no safety harnesses to catch them if they fell. The photo was prearranged, but features real workers, and this sort of thing would happen under normal circumstances with construction workers building skyscrapers. It was taken on September 20th, 1932, on the 69th floor of the new building during the last months of construction. The reason I chose this photo was actually two reasons. One, my grandfather worked in construction, and this may have been how he actually ate his lunch when he worked on buildings. The second was that I admire these people for being up so high, but not even batting an eyelash. I would be terrified, for I have fear of heights. It's not a typical fear of them though. I fear that the urge to jump off will be so strong it will overpower me. I could just imagine how those men felt though, being up so high. A worker would take out his lunch from it's brown paper bag, a lunch that was made by his own hands, or by a loving wife he had at home. It might be a turkey and cheese, or a BLT, maybe even peanut butter and jelly. He would have to lower himself carefully, to avoid slipping, and would feel the cold of the hard metal beam underneath of him seep, right through his skin, into his very bones. It wouldn't bother him though, he'd be used to working in such cold, being up so high. There might be a wind blowing, not hard enough to knock him over, but just enough to rustle his hair. He may have to sit on his lunch bag to keep it from blowing away though. There, he would dangle his feet over the sprawling city below him, hundreds of feet above the streets filled with cars and taxi cabs. The noise and bustle of below would just barely be loud enough to reach him up here. There might be a fog on the distant horizon, left over from morning, when he started his daily work. There would be the clang and pounding of others, still hard at work and waiting until they had their lunch. He might imagine, as this lone worker sat there, what it would be like if he jumped off of this amazingly high structure. How it would feel, the wind rushing against his face, his body flying through the air, hurtling toward the ground. Maybe he would think instead about what would happen if he lost a shoe up here, what someone might say if it knocked them in the head, or if it landed with a dull thud on the roof of their cab. It would be a sensational experience to have the job of these workers, going through countless dangers in their average workweek, just to make ends meet for their families and themselves during the Great Depression.

In the picture i chose I see a mans footprint on the moon. I chose this pic because in this time in history it was very important. Mostly becuse it was the first person that had evr been on the moon. This was also probably a time where the astronaut was very scared to step on the moon. Probably because he didn't know what it was like or how it was or anything. If I was one of the people watching him mystomach would have dropped. Also I think this is very cool because it is something he can say that no one has done and that's pretty cool. So it would also be cool for everyone to think about what they were doing during the time of this. So to conclude this picture was very important, cool and, scary.

I choose the picture of the Holocaust in history this was always really interesting to me but terribly wrong the leader Hitler killed mutable Jews and the US was the ones that came in and saved the Jews and after Hitler committed suicide so he didn't have to be punished but every year we normally watch movies of the holocaust and things that actually went on people lost there moms and dads etc I watched a movie about the holocaust called "the boy in the stripped pajamas" and honestly it was the worst thing I have every seen.

I chose the Nebula in space. I have always had a fasination with space. Even when we were at Carnegie I was at the space area more than any other area. You know what is ironic? I am an acrophobic which means I am afraid of hieghts. So I don't know how I would do in space. But hey, it is always fun to dream, right? The Nebula I think that is forming a new star in space. That is all I know, correct me if I am wrong. That is my blog for the photo blog.

Well, these people are obviously born stupid. I have never been to the Bridge Day . I dont think i would like to. If you dont know what the Bridge Day thing is its like a west virginia version of the bull run. The bullrun reminds of the Hunger Games because in spain apparently they just let bulls lose to kill or hurt you. Then in the Hunger Games they have people from different districts kill one another . And these things are both not things that just come out of the blue that happens on accident. They donit in purpose as in they have a date they do all these events on. Its just crazy to think all these people likebgetting the entertainment of people killing other peope in real life. Sense theres a date set the people in Spain know when its on so why arent they prepared. The smart things would to go in your house and do not cone out that day. Or if you forgot its tht day then it happens then run to a wuick safety spot. Maybe some place up high or in a tight spave where the bulls cannot get you at. But these people run right in the middle and keep on running with the bulls to get hurt. Butboh well i guess its fun tonthem if its an event evey year that people is crazy enough to join. The name speaks for itself.

I choose the little kid dying in Africa. I think the photo is sad. The vulture was waiting for the kid to die. I think the man that took the photo could have helped out the poor helpless starving kid. I think it is said how in some countries people can be so poor. The water they drink is brown. The food the eat is old. And the poor don't know when their next meal is going to be who knows the might not even got another meal. The meal the just eat could be their last meal.
