Running of the Bulls

The reason the Running with Bulls is such a thrill is because everybody loves danger! Especially me. West Virginia has its own exciting and dangerous day called Bridge Day. Bridge Day is an annual one-day festival in Fayetteville, Fayette County, West Virginia. The event is coordinated by the New River Gorge Bridge Day Commission. The great day of fun is sponsored by numerous companies. Sadly, I have never been to the New River Gorge Bridge Day. I have been white water rafting when I was seven down in Mew River Gorge. That is pretty scary and dangerous to a seven year old. I would love to be a part of the Running with the Bulls, if I ever am in Spain, because” Danger” is my middle name.

Sadly, I have never been to Bridge Day. It seems like I am always doing something dangerous. I love going rope swinging off the railroad trestle in Rivesville. Don't worry, it swings into the water. I love going kayaking, but I don't think that really counts as dangerous. Driving a rusty pick up truck up a mountain with flimsy lawn. chairs as your seat belt does, especially when the tailgate only works half the time. I guess you have to be there to understand. I went parasailing this summer. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I would love to go to a running of the bulls. I have a list of crazy things I want to do. One being bungee jumping. I want to go skydiving too! My mom thinks I'm out of my mind for wanting to do these things but I told her we only have one life so why live it boring? Running of the bulls would definatly be exhilarating, but honestly, it would be like running a 5k for your life. You would have to condition and train for it. Unfortunately, many people die and get injured by provoking the bulls while running. Risking your life for a 'race' may not be worth it in the end..

I choose the little kid dying in Africa. I think the photo is sad. The vulture was waiting for the kid to die. I think the man that took the photo could have helped out the poor helpless starving kid. I think it is said how in some countries people can be so poor. The water they drink is brown. The food the eat is old. And the poor don't know when their next meal is going to be who knows the might not even got another meal. The meal the just eat could be their last meal.

Bridge Day is an annual one-day festival in Fayetteville, West Virginia. The event, held on the third Saturday every October, commemorates the 1977 completion of the New River Gorge Bridge. On this day, all four lanes of the bridge are closed to automobiles and opened to pedestrians. The first Bridge Day was held in 1980 and about 40,000 people showed up. It has been held every year since except for 2001. (It was canceled due to the recent events of 9/11 and the possibility of terrorist attacks.) Bridge Day is the only day of the year people are allowed to BASE jump off the bridge into the New River Gorge 876 feet below, one of the few exceptions to a general ban on BASE jumping within the U.S. National Park System. People are also allowed to rappel from the span on Bridge Day. About four hundred BASE jumpers participate in each year's festival. There have been three deaths during Bridge Day due to accidents involving BASE jumpers: Michael Glenn Williams in 1983, Steven Gyrsting in 1987, and Brian Lee Schubert in 2006.
No, I have not participated in Bridge Day. I had never even heard of it until I moved here five years ago. I have never taken place in any dangerous event, unless riding in a car with my Puerto Rican aunt counts. The thing is, I’m not one for danger. I like quiet and calm, whether it means I’m alone or not. I’ve talked about it with my family and we would like to watch a dangerous event like that, but never actually experience the danger. So, because I’m not a fan of dangerous things, I would not take place in The Running of the Bulls. I would love to watch the men run in front of the bulls, though, because the anticipation of such a thing would excite anyone. ~Karinna Fazenbaker 6&7

The reason that the Running with the Bulls is so popular is probably due to the adrenilin rush you would get. I think they probably bet on whether or not the will get hit, or maybe they are just trying to do everything they can before they die. I really want to bungie jump and ski dive. Those are a must in my bucket list. I have never seen Bridge Day, but if I went you would believe that I would be the one doing it too. I am a big risk taker and I think it feels good to just live and do a bunch of dangerous yet safe stuff before you die. As they say, "You only get one life, but if you live it right, one's enough." I think tjhat is a great motto to live by.

I have never been to bridge day to be honest. It sounds point less to jump off a bridge. I'm afraid of hieghts any way. If I had a chance though I would jump off the bridge. I have never really been to a dangerous event. I would run with the bulls. I love to run with the bulls. It would hurt to hit hit by one but I love excitment and adrenilin.

I've never been to Bridge Day, and I don't really want to go, either. I'm just not really into that sort of thing, if you know what I mean. It just seems like a stupid thing to do. People who participate in those sorts of things must be on drugs or SOMETHING. No one in their right mind should do that. I would never participate in something like that, of course. Like I already said, it just seems stupid to me. I don't think I'd like to witness the Running of the Bulls either, since why would you want to watch people get run over by bulls? It doesn't really make sense to me.

I have been to Bridge Day before, and I loved it. Thankfully, I have never participated in a dangerous event, and I never want to witness, let alone participate, in the Running of the Bulls, for the simple reason that I don't want to get killed. Yes, we have a dangerous day of the year, too, but at least only professionals can participate. Why would you want to jump off a bridge or run from bulls? Why would you want to risk your life just for yours or others' amusement? It just isn't right. I think the people who run from the bulls are either drunk or high. It sounds silly, but it could be true. I would never do something stupid like that. Would you?

I have never been to bridge day actually when I was in 4th and 5th I was just then hearing about it. Nor do I ever want to participated in it I hate heights. I think who ever dose bridge day has a lot of nerve because I would cry if I ever did something like that. I think running with the bulls is so scary because who would want to get hit in the butt with a bull horn? Let me guess not me because I have commences not to. I mean some people do it because of YOLO(you only live once) but I think that is stupid because if I run with the bull I will never live again

I honestly have never heard of Bridge Day until I read about it in the newspaper! Goes to show how much I know about West Virginia! I don't think I've ever participated in a dangerous event before, unless falling for whatever "game" that causes you to get hurt that your older siblings made up counts. I tend to just play it safe and try not to risk anything. However, I would love to go and try snowboarding or skiing. To me, it's a better choice than trying to surfboard because I can't swim and I'm terrified of the ocean! I wouldn't dare participate in Running of the Bulls but I would watch it. My mother wouldn't allow me to any way no matter how much I would like to run with the bulls.

I have never neen to Bridge Day but I do not really want to because of the way we were talking about it in class. I never have really bee in any dangerous events, but if you count football then yes. You guys have probably seen me come to school with many things either on my feet or my hands. I am not sure I would ever want to go or participate in running with the bulls because i do not want to be killed or even come close to them. I would probably want to watch on a very high building.

The Running of the Bulls is defiantly a dangerous act to participate in! That's exactly why I would not want to be a part of it. I do however find it very interesting and like to learn about it in Spanish class. I have not been to Bride Day, but my best friend was born on Bridge Day (the one in Fairmont)! I would not say I have participated in any events as dangerous as this one. I do not plan to either! The Running of the Bulls would be different to watch. I also think going to Mexico or someplace that celebrates it would be fascinating to see how their culture and celebrations are unlike ours. They sure do have a different way of celebrating holidays!

Pretty c every country has their own traditions/festivals so I do not find it unusual for the running of the bulls to take place. We, in West Virginia, have our own festivals including Bridge Day. At these festivals people do crazy things. For example, at Bridge Day people jump off the New River Gorge bridge. No one really finds it unusual because it happens every year and we are use to it. Yes, I do very dangerous thins. In fact, I am actually really surprised that I have never broken a bone/hurt myself. I think if I had the choice, I would participate in the Running of the Bulls.

I have been to bridge day and it was actually last Saturday that i went and it was fun.The one event i have been in that was dangerous was when i moved to WV.The thing that was dangerous about it was when you go to get a box and you don't know how heavy it is and next thing you know is you have a broken toe.I would like to witness not participate in it because i want to keep my insides inside.

I have never been to Bridge day or participated in any dangerous event and I don’t want to either. I would not like to witness or participate in Running of the Bulls because you could easily get killed. Even if you are the fastest or strongest person ever you still have a chance to get killed or hurt. The risk just isn’t worth it. All of the people who participate in this event are crazy. They are either on drugs, drunk, or just so bored they think this would be fun to do. I think Running of the Bulls is a pointless event that shouldn’t even be a real event.

I honestly would never guess people actually do that, i though they only wore those red capes and let the bull chase them around. Staryotipical, right? Any who... ive never heard of bridge day. Im not sure what the point of bridge day is and it just confuses me i would rather stay in my room and listen to music, haha. I would never ever want to participate in that. I dont really like the dangerouse stuff and what not. im honestly a loner. I dont like dangerouse things and id rather be by myself a lot. I dont think i would watch them eather, i dont care if its bridge day, or running from the bull day thing.

In my opinion Running With The Bulls is crazy and extremly stupid. Its like asking to get killed or injured. But it gives you an adrenilin rush like when you watch a scary movie or ride a rollar coaster. Anf that is a good feeling. We do bridge day here in West Virginia and that is almost as reckless as the bulls but they have saftey equiptment unlike the people in Spain. I have never attended it but i would like to try sometime..

Well in West Virginia we have a day called Bridge Day. Sadly, I have never been to it. I've heard that people walk, run, parachute, bungey, and who else knows on that day. So if I was to compare Bridge Day with The Running of the Bulls, it would be that it has to do with fun. Even though that Running of the Bulls is dangerous. Which you would half to be, you know a little tipsy to do. I mean you run from bulls in the street. If your asking if I would do it, the answer would most likely be yes. This is only if a was drunker than drunk. What a crazy world we live in. Am I right?

I have never heard of this event till know. I think this is really dumb and the people must just do it for tradition.

This weeks blog is about dangerous activities I've done in the past. There are many types of events like this across the world. Such as Bridge day and running with the Bulls. Bridge day happens in Fayetteville West Virginia at the New River Gorge Bridge. In this event daredevils jump off of the bridge to test their abilities. Running with the bulls is the same way but in Spain. If I had the chance I would definitely do this event. Reason I would is because it is a perfect combination of danger and excitement. My sister Madi has even went to watch the runners run. She saw many people get hit and even speared by bulls. She would never do it if she was paid. So the important question is would you run with the bulls I sure know I would.

I have never been to Bridge Day, nor will I in the near future. Yeah, it suppose to be an exciting celebration with daredevils jumping off bridges, but I'm not one. I never liked loud crazy places. Maybe that's why New York City wasn't my favorite. Participating in crazy events aren't on the top of my list. I'm scared and something's just look so dangerous that if things falter, it could cost your life. I wouldn't ever want to watch or participate in running with the bulls. Imagining someone getting stabbed in the butt with a horn is frightening. How is watching people being maniacs while running with deadly animals and could die, fun? If I couldn't even watch this, then I definitely can't run with the bulls.

I have never been to bridge day, but I think that it would be an experience that would be really cool to try. I enjoy doing scary things and I'm not afraid to try them, but I don't think that I'd ever try running with the bulls and nor would I like to watch. Running with the bulls seems pretty extreme and really gory. I wouldn't enjoy watching people getting trampled and stabbed by a bunch of bulls. Every year when my family and I go on vacation to some amusement park I make sure that I ride the biggest roller coaster there. About a year ago I went to New River Gorge and went white water rafting. I remember that one of the white water areas was actually called the meat grinder, so you really didn't want to fall out of the raft at that point. I really enjoy white water rafting and doing scary stuff even with the probability of it being dangerous.

running of the bulls is a famous day because it is a day of fun and stupidity. There are lots of people that come around the world to partake in or watch this event because you get to watch people be stupid. As far as participating in a dangerous event goes I have not unless being stupid is one of them example making my mom mad then getting my dad involved. If I could go to Spain for a day I would participate in the running of the bulls just to say I have done it. No wonder the place is called Spain there sure is a lot of it on that day.

I have never been to bridge day before but I have heard of great things about it. I have heard about the daring and crazy people that jump off a bridge just for the thrill. I have been on a few roller coasters at Kennywood. My family and I went on called The Black Widow one coaster. It was big and better version of a swing that threw you 146 feet in the air. I was so worried about the whole thing collapsing after we got swung on it a few times and it stopped because there was a “malfunction” then we got back on after the ride was cleared for safety. The ride conductors said that it will be fine and that they had this happen six times that day already. I don’t know why I got back on the ride but I did and it was so scary I was screaming bloody murder the whole ride until the ride swung so high it took your breath away. Long story short I enjoy a good thrill ride because I know the odds are in my favor. However, I am not interested in the possibility of being bludgeoned to death so I will never even think about participating in the running of the bulls.

I've always wanted to participate in the Running of the Bulls. Even though it's dangerous, I think it would be very exciting. I love to take risks. I haven't been to Bridge Day yet, but we are going to go - hopefully next year. The most dangerous thing I have done is go flying with my pilot friend, Lt Col Mike Lakin. He owned his own plane and performed aerobatics at air shows. He took me flying several times and practiced his air show routine with me as his co-pilot. We did rolls and loops, and hung upside down! It was amazing! He also let me fly his plane! Aerobatics are very dangerous. In fact, Mike crashed his plane and died while practicing his routine. But Mike taught me life is too short not to take risks.

I actually have not been to Bridge Day. But I do know that many people go to Bridge Day to see everyone jump off the bridge. I think the reason people participate in the Bull Run is because they are messed up. I mean who would want to do that knowing they could get killed during the process. I guess you would have to be fearless to do it. I don't believe I have participated in that dangerous of an event. I don't think I have some people may think I have but not me personally. Alright So if I haven't made it clear enough I would not like to participate in the Bull Run. I am not that brave. I would be scared to death.

I have never participated in a dangerous event like Bridge Day or the Running of the Bulls. Things like that don’t seem very interesting to me, but that is just my personal opinion. If I had to choose between witnessing or taking part in the Running of the Bulls, I would choose witnessing. I don’t like doing things that could possibly get me killed or injured. I’m not a fast runner either, which would not help. If I ever did get the chance to witness the Running of the Bulls, I would make sure that I was watching everything from a safe distance. I would never want to be chased by a bull for fun. Like I mentioned earlier, things like that don’t appeal to me.

I have never been to bridge day. I understand the state of West Virginia decided to have this event because thrill seekers would leap from the bridge whether it was legal or not. By making bridge day an annual festival anyone who wishes may leap from the bridge. By making it legal one day a year, emergency personal are in place just in an accident occurs. Having bridge day in the fall is great because in my opinion this is when West Virginia is the most beautiful. The trees are beautiful in mid-October. It is a time to enjoy the beautiful leaves just before we have to rake our yards of all the fallen leaves.

Well, why wouldn’t you want to go ahead and do this?

Danger and excitement is one of the ultimate thrills one can have. That is why people do things as such. Heck, I would probably do that as I got older!

This is made more probable by the fact that I myself has never been in a dangerous event. I would like to at some point, but, I have a life to live first.

Unfortunately, I have never attended Bridge Day, nor do I plan to. It does look fun, but jumping into a chasm: for some reason, not very appealing right now...

I have never been to bridge day but I would like to go some time. People like to participate in the running of the bulls because it is a rush of energy. It feels good to get your adrenaline going. I would like to go to the running of the bulls. I don't think that I would participate in it though. My thought on it is that it is very stupid and dangerous. Running of he bullsbis a practice that involves running in front of a small group of bulls that have been let loose on a course of a sectioned-off subset of a town's streets. What about this sounds safe or sane? The origin of this event comes from the need to transport the bulls from the off-site corrals where they had spent the night, to the bullring where they would be killed in the evening.

To start this off, I have never been to Spain, or to Bridge Day, that is for sure. But I have done dangerous things, that is also for sure. They weren't really dangerous "events," per say, meaning they weren't ever organized things. But they sure as llamas are funny creatures- that spit digestive juices on you when they're upset-were dangerous. I've thrown a stuffed squirrel out the car window before (not dangerous for me but for the squirrel. Ha!), I have run straight in front of a car, climbed in a fallen tree that's a good 30 feet tall lying down, I've flown off a swing that's twenty feet up in the air, and when I was a baby I lept out of my mom's arms and landed inches from a solid brick fireplace. I have even climbed on my garage roof when we lived in Ohio. That's 50 feet high! And I did this on a regular basis. I've always wanted to do other dangerous things, some of which are my dream to complete. For example, skydiving, ziplining, paragliding, bungee-jumping, and etc. I love the thrill of adrenaline coursing through my veins, and the wind whipping wildly at my face and hair, the sound of it deafening in my ears, shivers from the cold air tracing their way down my spine, my entire body being cradled only by the harsh wind, falling, falling, down, down, down evermore. More like I love the idea of it. I've never done something like that. I wish I did... but oh well. I know one thing though, I wouldn't want to witness the running of the bulls. Yes it's adrenaline, and yes , I said I love that feeling, but first of a;ll, it's cruel to the bulls. The reason they stampede is that they're scared and frightened. Second of all, I don't like to see people get killed or hurt like that. I know I seem all "death is great" and such, but underneath I'm not really like that. So if I ever go to Spain, I will never do something like that. I know it's part of their tradition, the Spanish, and that's fine, but I choose to take no part in it. Even the video was hard for me to watch.

I have heard of Bridge Day and know what it is. It's full of base jumpers from around the globe. It's one of the things on my bucket list. I have took place in dangerous events. One time me and some friends blind folded our selfs and try to cross a rushing creek of water full of rocks. Of course some one gets hurt and we stop. I would like to watch the Running of the Bulls but not be in it. Cause I'd like to live nice and safe without be run over by bulls.

Running of the Bulls is like the same thing as Bridge Day in West Virginia. Although I have never been to bridge day, I've done a report on it and watched videos of the people that jump off of the bridge. One of the most dangerous things I've done is ride the slingshot in Myrtle Beach, if you count that as dangerous. Other than that, the worst situation was almost falling out of a roller coaster in Kennywood a few years ago. I wouldn't be able to do running with the bulls with out getting attacked be a bull, so I don't think it would be a very good idea for me. It would definately be an interesting event to witness.

I have been canoeing and kayaking before, those are really fun, but not that dangerous. I have a whole list of dangerous things I want to do. Things like bungee jumping and para-sailing. I have always wanted to go surfing or paddle-boarding. Those could be considered dangerous to some people. I honestly don't think I would participate in Running of the Bulls because I wouldn't want to risk my life teasing bulls. It just doesn't seem worth it.

I think that the reason the running of the bulls is so popular would be from the adrenalin rush you'd get. I think that people do it just to see how long they could last in there. I think that some people are drunk when they do it too. I also think that people would do it just to say they did it before they died. Two things that I would like to do before I die would be go sky diving and bungee jumping. I would never do the Running of the Bulls because of the amount of injuries and you could also get killed. I think its stupid that peole would go do something so dangerous that you would get killed. I have never been to Bridge Day but I would like to. I like doing things that give you an adrenalin rush. I think that it's good that you live your life but it's stupid if you do something that can kill you.

But when i get older I plane on attending.

Running with the bulls is a very dangerous thing. I think people love it so much is because they like danger. I do crazy things but I would never do this. I have never been to Bridge Day. Everyone says they love it and it is very fun. I think people run with the bulls because they are drunk or stupid. I wouldn't risk my life running with the bulls. People get really injured or they die from this. Running with the bulls is surprisingly very popular.

I think running with the bulls is a very dangerous thing and I don't get why people risk their lives just to run with a bunch of bulls. I think it would be cool to watch sometime but I probably would never actually do it. There is something very similar to that called New River Gorge Bridge day. I have never participated in bridge day and I really don't want too. I don't get why people like running with the bulls so much, I mean it's cool to watch but it's very very dangerous. I participate in some things that are risky but I have never don't anything like this before. Running with the bulls is surprisingly very popular now a days, but I guess people don't realize how dangerous it is until they get injured doing it. One thing I would like to do before I die is sky diving. I think it would be really cool to experience this sometime.

I'll admit it-I wasn't always so competent. However, it was understandable when I was only 5-6 years old. Despite never hearing about Bridge Day until now, I have been in death-defying situations. Yes, it was during my 5-6 age time, and it was mainly due to my incompetence, though it was more like curiosity at that moment. My family went White-Water Rafting, and it was fun, albeit dangerous. It was fairly safe, even with me standing up half the time and occasional bumps into rocks. That is, until we got to an elephant shaped rock! It may not sound dangerous, but I have three reasons why it was dangerous. First, we only had 6 people while others had more, and we didn't have enough oars for everyone, so we were at a strength disadvantage. Second, the rock had a mini-whirlpool, so we could get pulled toward it. Lastly, If the boat got flipped over near it, we would get sucked underneath it. If there wasn't a rock sticking out in a way to stop us in place, we would've gotten stuck on the rock. I feel that I would be an unlucky one if a was part of the Running with the Bulls.

I personally have never been to Bridge Day, but I would like to do more research to see if it is something that I would want to partcipate in. I like to play it safe and I have not partcipated in an event I Thought was dangerous. Although I would not partcipate in running of the bulls I would probably want to witness it 1`2nd period

No, I have never been to the Bridge Day. I think people do the running of the bulls for a thrill. They could also just be drunk and don't know what they are doing. I would never do the running of the bulls because I don't want to have severe injuries or die.

The reason the running of the bulls is such a thrill because it is scary. You might get hurt, you might not get hurt. Everyone loves a good scare. Like fright farm or Halloween pranks. I never been to Bridge Day in Fayetteville. I do hope to get the courage to bungee jump off the bridge. I am an acrophobic, so I could not do it. I wish I would at least witness the running of the bulls. It would be so awesome.

I would never everin my life be in running with the bulls. It is to me to see all those just along side of bulls. It is crazy. I have never been to brodge day and never heard of it. I have never been somewhere that would scare me. The most scariest thing I have done was ride on the roller coaster. That was not even scary. The people who run with the bulls must be either the braves people or the drunkest people.I probably know some people who would do this.

I have never been to a bridge day and I haven't heard of bridge day until just now. I have never participated in any dangerous think like running with the bulls. And why would someone want to risk their lives or getting seriously hurt running with bulls. The people that do the event are just crazy or someone is paying them to run with the bulls. I would not want to do this event because it is just stupid. Then you have to think about some life time injuries.

The reason running with the bulls is so popular is because its dangerous and adrenaline rushing . I don't do dangerous things a lot but I jump off of a trestle into a lake during the summer it is considered dangerous. I've never been to bridge day sadly but I think id like to go one day when I'm older . I think I would do Running with the bulls for the same reason everyone else dose it. I know its dangerous but if we're being completely honest here well I'd have to say I'm not really afraid of dying or getting hurt I think doing something you've never done before is good and if you die then you took that risk no one forced you to run with the bulls .

The running of the Bulls looks crazy! I think it would be fun I guess. Although it's not something I would quite enjoy as a recreational activities. There are a plethora of things I could do, but being chased by Bulls is not one of them. The reason I say this is because it is SO dangerous. You could get injured in small ways, or major ways. Heck, you could even die! I just don't understand why they couldn't do something more simple, or less dangerous to be precise. Why couldn't it be something like the Italian festival or something? I go there almost every year and I have the time of my life! So in conclusion I think it's kind of stupid.

The Encierro is the event at the heart of the Sanfermines and makes the fiesta a spectacle that would be unimaginable in any other place in the world. It was born from need: getting the bulls from outside the city into the bullring. The third rocket, fired from the bullring, signals that all the bulls have entered the bullring. A fourth and final rocket indicates that all the bulls are safely in the corral located inside the bullring, and that the bull run has ended. For security reasons, a double fence marks out the route of the bull run through the streets. It is made of over 3,000 wooden parts (planks, posts, gates, etc.). Part of the fence stays put throughout the fiesta but other sections are assembled and disassembled every day by a special brigade of workers.A large number of pastores (bull "shepherds") cover the entire bull run. They place themselves behind the bulls, with their only protection being a long stick. Their main role is to stop the odd idiot from inciting the bulls from behind, to avoid the bulls turning round and running backwards, and to help any bulls that have stopped or have been separated from their companions to continue running towards the bullring. And finally I probably wouldnt be a part of that.

Um.... I have never been to a bridge day but I have heard about them. Danger is usually my middle name if its dangerous sign me up. One time I rode my bike one a huge hill without brakes on it I crashed and had this major scar. Another thing I did was sled ride with no snow on a big hill. I have a big list of stuff I've done. I would love to be apart of the running with the bulls. It would be such a rush. Unfortunately a lot of people die from this. Those who do not die are severely injured. But I would do it just for the rush of it. It is sad though how many people die. Maybe I will be lucky.
