Diet Coke

Do not try this indoors! Why does the coke erupt? What scientific concept is being illustrated? Do you have any favorite science experiments? Would you show this video to your science teacher? What are some other ways that you could vary this experiment? Could you video any of your experiments, add music, and provide an entertaining video? How?

I really liked this blog. It was probably my favorite one so far. This blog was kind of interesting. But at the end I thought it was gross when the two guys drank the Coke then spit it out on each other.
I'm not for sure why the Coke erupts but in sivth grade Mrs.Joshi's class did ths experiment. We went outside and let them off. But, we didn't use Mentos. We used mint Life Savors. It still worked.
I do not have any other favorite science experiments. But one that my brother showed me was that if you mixed a can of Sprite and a can of Pepsi you make Generale. I don't know if it works but he said it does. So you'll have to try it and find out.
I would maybe show this to my science teacher but he probably all ready knows about this experiment.
Yes, you could video your experiments. You would have to first video it happening, then go on and customize it to add sound and music.

The blog was really cool!
Diet Coke erupts because the chemicals in the mentos makes it fizz and erupt.i'm not really sure on what science this video shows.
I dont have a favorite science expiriment because I dont like science. I would show it to my 6th grade science because we did that expiriment and it would make her laugh. See is mentos makes any other pop erupt.Yes you could make your own video. All you have to do is video tape it trasfer it to the internet and put it on youtube.com.

This blog was so cool. I actually did this with my science teacher last year.
I don't remeber exactly why it happens, but I know there's a chemical in the mentos that reacts with a chemical in the Coke, kinda like baking soda and vinigar.
I remeber we did alot of expiriments last year at my old school, and this was actually my favorite.
I would deffinantly show this to my science teacher, even though he's probably done it.
You could deffinantly video your science expiriments. I mean, these guys did. I thought it was really cool how they made pretty much a water show with the coke.

The coke erups because some chemicals can not mix together. I have done this experiment in Mrs Garcia's Class and I went home and did it agian. I thought that it was really neat. The coke erupts because of the acid of the object being dropped into the coke mixes with the acid of the coke and causes a chemical reaction. This experiment illustrates the concept of chemical reaction. Actually, this was my favorite scienc experiment. I did this experiment in Mrs. Garcia's 6th grade science class. It was called," The Diet Coke and Mento Experiment". (How original)

Yes, I would show this science experiment to my teacher. Some ways you can vary the experiment is that you can change the liquid you are dropping the mento in or you can drop different candies and things into the coke. Yes, you could do this by taping it and putting it on your computer. Then, you should customixe and add music. Finlly, you should burn it onto CD and watch it.

I think that because I have already done this in 6th grade, this is my favorite science experiment.

Maybe you can try to use a different type of soda, or a different type of mints to vary this experiment.

Yes, to provide a entertaining video, you could video tape yourself, of some friends, and upload the video to your computer, and make something in Movie Maker.

This was a cool Blog!! The coke erupted because there is a reaction between the mentos and the diet coke. What Scientific concept is being illustrated is that with a combination of two different things you can make a cool display. Well I did but this one is now my favorite but some other of my favorite scientific experiment is: When you take vinegar into a bottle and then pour backing soda into a glove then place the glove on the bottle finally than watch what it does.

You could vary this experiment by putting the lid on the bottom a little bit than shaking it and put it down quickly and it may go up. I don’t know if this is true I just think that it would work.
Yes, you could make your own Video out of your experiment. You would have to video it transpher it over to your computer add some and put it on the internet or keep as your own little video.

The coke in this experiment erupts because the ingredient in Mentos is Arabic Gum, which makes the mint chewy. This ingredient causes the surface tension of the water to break even more easily releasing more carbon dioxide gas at an astounding rate. Gas causes the pressure to build rapidly inside the bottle which thrusts the soda upward! This scientific concept illustrates a chemical reaction. This is my favorite science experiment. We did it in Mrs. Garcia's class in the sixth grade and the coke exploded all over me. I would definitely show this to my science teacher. This is a great video. Not only would she be amused, but I think the entire class would enjoy this video and learn something, too. You could replace the Mentos with Pop Rocks candy or baking soda to vary this experiment. I really liked this blog. I thought it was very interesting and really cool. It was different compared to the other blogs. It was my favrite blog out of all of the blogs. It's caused by "nucleation" of the carbon dioxide in the soda on the candy surface. It's a physical change process and not a chemical one.
Nucleation generally means there's a spot that's favorable for a reaction to occur. The Mentos candy happens to have surface ripe with nucleation points for CO2 that allow it to jump from the liquid to a pure gas quickly. So quickly that it acts as an eruption. You can get similar nucleation effects with other household items, but some of them are dangerous. A good example is not to heat up water in a microwave and then suddenly pour sugar into it. (e.g. like would happen with a cup of coffee). A microwave can easily heat water past it's boiling temperature without actually causing it to boil. The water sits on a hair trigger between liquid and gas states. The sudden introduction of nucleation points (i.e. the sugar) causes the water to jump from liquid to gas suddenly, creating lots of bubbles simultaneously and thus an eruption. You have to be very careful not to get burned. Two cemicals coming together and creating a chemical reaction. I am not sure what is in the coke and mentos, but I am sure that the carbon in the diet coke issetting of the cemical in the mentos. Yes, I would definetly show my science techer because maybe it would give them an idea to do the project. I think it would be really cool to do that project. Some other ways you could vary this experiment would be by trying different kinds of mentosor even trying it with a different kind of soda. you could also put more of one and see what happens. Ye, I think that I could make an experiment. I think that could attempt to make it entertaining. I think that I could put music to the video. I would probably have my dad help me though.

The coke 'explodes' because the pressure builds up because of the chemical reaction between the coke and the ingredients in the Mentos (Wow, I sounded really smart there for a minute!). My favorite science experiment was whe Mrs. DeWitt put different chemicals on fire and it burned different colors. I think Mrs. DeWitt has something like this for us to do, so showing this to her would be saying something she already knew. You could vary this experiment by using different things besides the Mentos. You could do a show of your experiment and show that as a video.

The diet coke erupts in this video because when you drop the Mentos into the soda, the gelatin and gum arabic from the dissolving candy break the surface tension. Each Mentos candy has thousands of tiny pits all over the surface. These tiny pits are called nucleation sites. This is a perfect place for carbon dioxide bubbles to form. As soon as the Mentos hit the diet coke, bubbles form all over the surface of the candy. When all the gas is released from the Mentos being at the bottom of the diet coke bottle, it pushes all of the liquid up and out of the bottle in an incredible soda blast.

The scientific concept being illustradted is a chemical reaction. Many scientists think this is a physical reaction. I feel it is a chemical reaction.

I would definately show this video to my science teacher. I think this is very interesting, and it would be fun to try in class (outside of course).

Some other ways to vary this experiment would be to put salt in the diet coke. This would cause it to foam up because thousands of little bubbles form on the surface of each grain of salt. I also think Alka Seltzer and Pop Rocks would be interesting to try.

One of my favorite science experiments we did in my science class was the egg drop. Some kids eggs did not make the drop and they broke. It was fun to do and to watch.

Yes, you can video your experiments. Then take a USB cord and plug it into your video camera and your computer. You can put the video on Youtube. You can get music from your itunes. Then put the music together with your video and everyone can see your experiment.

I know that you can use baking soda and vinegar and it would react in kind of the same way.

I guess that you could vdeo tape the mixture of vinegar and baking soda and show it to your science class. It would be entertaining if you could find a pulley system to pour either the baking soda or the vinegar into the bottle. That would be kind of like what these two guys just performed in their experiment.

This was a really cool video. It was like a whole bunch of fountains. Amazing. =) The diet coke erupts because of a process called "nucleation," in which the particular chemistry of the Mentos candy interacts with the chemistry of the carbonated Diet Coke, causing the carbon dioxide gas, or CO2, to suddenly come out of suspension in the liquid and make a break for freedom. But you have to have the right Mentos. The non-mint type have a glaze on them, and they don't work at all. It only works with the mint ones, because they have a matte finish. That surface serves as these little portals for the gas to escape through. But the story doesn't end there. There's a cascade that happens with -- it's a little esoteric -- an ion exchange. Basically the Mentos starts to dissolve, and it's like tripping a switch. It's not what you would call a chain reaction, because that's something else in chemistry terms, but it's a cascade whereon all of a sudden, all of the CO2 that was contained in the liquid is suddenly not as attracted to the liquid as it was before, because of this slight change in the chemistry that occurs. The diet coke experiment is my favorite science experiment. The coke is pretty when it shoots up in the air. It is so amazing I would show it to my science teacher. To vary this experiment, you could try another mint in the diet coke. You could make an amazing video of entertaining science experiments and include this one. You could record it and add effects on your computer.

That was so cool! I think, that was the blog I have enjoyed the most so far. The coke erupts because a chemical inside the mentos react with another chemical inside the coke. When these two items [coke and mentos] are mixed together, this blend obviously creates a really cool explosion as shown in the video. If the coke and mentos was one of our science experiments it would be my favorite, but it isn’t. My most liked science experiment so far would now have to be where Mrs. Dewitt put a magnet thing to the TV and turned parts of it into a different color. {It was really cool} I would so totally show this video to my science teacher, hoping that we would be able to do something of this sort. Another experiment similar to this would be in my imagination to try to put a different candy/mint in the soda. As shown in this video you could tape you and your friends doing an experiment, add music, and still make it fun. After I actually think about it if I had the right materials and the knowledge how to work them it would be quite easy [I have really entertaining friends].

I really liked this blog. My little sister, Katheryn, wanted to watch it over and over again. [;
I believe the coke erupts because of a certain substance in the Mentos. This substance breaks the surface tension in the Diet Coke, which then causes the carbon dioxide bubbles in the soda to escape very quickly.
I do not know the scientific concept being illustrated in this video.
I would have to say that one of my favorite science experiments is defiantly a model of a volcano. The last time I've made one of these was in the third grade, but I can remember how much fun I had making it and experimenting with it.
I would show this video to my science teacher.
Some other ways I could vary this experiment is trying out different types of "candies" to see if they have the same reaction on the Diet Coke as the Mentos did.

Wow... that was so awesome! :] I really liked this video. The coke erupts because of the acids in each the Mentos and diet coke react to each other. My favorite science experiment would have to be in 7th grade. We went all through my old school and put up pieces of paper with tape stuck to them. About 5 days later we went back and saw what they looked like. In the wood working area the tape was very dirty and it had hundreds of dust particles on it. We also checked other parts of the school. We got to see how much dust and dirt is in the air all the time. It was really neat when the whole experiment was over.

Of course I would show this video to my science teacher. It would be really fun to do this as an experiment in class. It would also make more people pay attention because we would be doing something very exciting.

If they were to do this experiment again they could maybe try some kind of liquid with more sugar and acid in it and maybe try pop rocks (i love those things), or the Jones Soda Company candies. (they fizz in your mouth.)

I believe that I would be able to video an experiment and add music. I and a group of friends or even my family could conduct an experiment and tape it. Then we could add music to the video on the computer!

Even though I'm a week late on this blog, I loved it ! It was a lot of fun to watch.

Making an educated guess, I'm thinking the coke erupts because the mento's causes the carbon dioxide to erupt, causing a chemical reaction.

We haven't done that many science experiments in the past but I thought the egg drop experiment was a lot of fun. I tried so many different ways to try to keep the egg from breaking but each time it broke. Finally, I came up with a shelter to keep it from breaking.

I would most definitely show this video to my science teacher. Why not? I think he would really find it interesting and maybe even consider us doing it this year for a class experiment. Which would be a lot of fun!

Some other ways you could vary this experiment would be trying a different soda, or maybe even a different kind of candy.

Yes! You could make a very entertaining video using moviemaker. First you would have to video the experiment.( Of course) Then, all you have to do is put the video onto movie maker, add a cool song, edit a couple things and then you have a video. Of course there's other ways you can do this. Another one would be PowerPoint.

THIS BLOG WAS REALLY COOL!!

The coke erupts becuase the reaction the mentos has with the coke makes it fizz which in turn makes th e coke spew up and out. The cells in the coke react to the fizzing of the mentos which is a very small but very powerful, which is the equivalent to shaking up the coke. One of my favorite science experiments would have to be the egg drop! I might but I don't think he would be particurally interested in it. COUGH COUGH (Mr.Tennant) YOu could make this experiment vary by using different times of mints or candies to see what happened. i could but I can't promise you that it would be a really good video but I can assure you that I would have tried my hardest a making a really good video. First I would, find an experiment that I thought was really cool or really interesting, second I would test to it to see if it worked if it did work I would then show you how to do the experiment in front of the camera so that you could see how I did everything.

This video was really cool. I love doing experiments like that. It would be very bad if someone did do this inside. The diet coke erupts because of the mentos. The mentos have thousands of microscopic pits throughout their surface. Carbon dioxide bubbles from the soda form in these pits when the mentos hit the coke. The mentos sink to the bottom of the pop and the bubbles push the liquid pop through the top of the bottle. This is a messy but extremely fun reaction. The scientific concept of this video is a chemical reaction.
Doing science experiments can be really fun. One of my favorite science experiments I have ever preformed is the magnetism experiment. I did this experiment in the fifth grade with Mrs. Saunders. We were to make a nail magnetic using electricity. We first made a simple, electrical circuit with a switch. Then, we coiled wire around the nail. That created a concentrated, magnetic field that attracted small metal objects such as paper clips. It was a pretty cool experiment.
I would show this video to my science teacher. Hopefully he would let us do the coke/mentos experiment one class period. He could explain to us exactly why this works. Although I have already tried this experiment it would be fun to do it again.
There are many other ways to vary this experiment. Of course, the vinegar with baking soda experiment comes to mind. Another way to vary this experiment would be to use other mints, Tums, or Alka-Seltzers. Also, you could change the type of pop or try it with some other fizzy liquid.
It would not be very difficult to video an experiment, add music, and provide an entertaining video. If you or someone you knows has access to a camcorder it would be perfect for videotaping an experiment. You could test out the experiment first and make changes to draw the eye when someone watches it. Then it would be possible to download the video onto the computer. From there you could either put the video on power point or movie maker. Finding a compatable song on the enternet can be tricky but can be done from there. You can put the video on a CD/DVD and invite some friends over to watch the movie. That would be awesome.

This blog was pretty cool. Diet coke erupts cause the chemicals from the diet coke mix with the mentos and produce fix which makes it erupt. I actually don’t know what form of scientific concept is being used. I don’t have any favorite science experiment. I would definitely show this video to my science teacher. I would see how far up in the air the fizz would go. I think I could make my own video. The way I would do that is by getting Brady Dunn to help me.

the coke erupt because each Mentos candy has thousands of tiny pores all over its surface. These tiny pores function as nucleation sites for carbon dioxide bubbles to form. As soon as the Mentos enter the soda, bubbles form all over their surface. They quickly sink to the bottom, causing carbon dioxide to be released by the carbonated liquid with which they come into contact along the way.

No I do not have any favorite science experiments eventhough science is my favorite subject.

The scientific concept that is being illustrated is Nucliation

Yes, there is many ways you can do this experiment. You can take different kinds of popo like sprit or gingerale and put mentos or mins in it my they have to be "mint flavored".

Yes, I could make a video and add music by video taping the experiment and putting it on movie maker then add sound.

Now you know me, I will eventually try to do this in doors. Heck, I think that it may be pretty cool. The Coke erupted because of a chemical reaction that occurs when the acidic compounds of the Mentos reacts with the carbonation of the Coke, resulting in the disbursing of Coke from the bottle. The scientific method being demonstrated is… de-Cokerationsynthesis produced by Mentos. Oh no, I’m just yanking your chain, I seriously don’t know what this process is called. I believe I only have on favorite science project, and it is the dissection of frogs. And I am not yanking your chain on this one. One time in fifth grade, my teacher let us take a whack at cutting some fresh formaldehyde marinated amphibians. Most of those in my class had that, eewy, look on their faces, but I am used to cutting up animals. Heck cutting up a frog is not much different that when I carve up my deer after I have shot it. I would show this video to my science teacher, but I think he may have already seen it. Another way you could perform this experiment is to take baking soda, and dump vinegar on top. This combination has a similar reaction to the Coke-Mentos experiment. And if I were able to make a video about this experiment, I don’t think it will please most; only because my choice of music may make most jeer at the video, instead of a cheer for the video.

Yes, I would show this video to my science teacher because we are about to do an experiment with chemicals in science class. One way you can vary this experiment is change it to normal Coke and Smarites, which I did once last year in cold lunch (It made a big mess hahaha). Since the Smarties experiment was the only experiment I’ve done I don’t think I’d be videotaping any experiments. However, if I did I would just have a friend videotape me and maybe another friend doing the experiment with my High Deffinition camera then use the high tech software to make music, sound effects and cool text fonts.

The coke erupts because the smooth surface on the candy, for some reason, causes the carbonation in the soda to burst out all at once. The scientific concept of physical change is occurring here. I've never done this experiment, but it looks really fun so I think it would be my favorite. Also just having a little fun with baking soda and vinegar never hurt anyone... You could vary this experiment with different types of candy, soda, and different angles and such. Mrs. DeWitt says she always has wanted to see this in action so yes i would show it to her. It would be very easy to video tape experiments and add music to them. Just use movie maker and import a video. also, you could import the audio of the video into audacity and edit out the sounds you don't want.

The main reason the coke erupts is the surface of the mentos. If you put a mentos under a microscope you would find thousands of tiny wholes all over the surface. In these wholes carbon is trapped inside and is then released which increases air pressure inside the bottle which forses the soda up and out of the bottle. The other reason the soda explodes is the sugar content having a chemical reaction with the carbon. But you don't have to use mentos. Sweet tarts, smarties or any other sugary candy will work just fine. I would know because in fifth grade during cold lunch we would pick on Sam Haines by sneaking a smartie into his soda. I think I would like to make a video like this and put music to it and then I probably would show it to my science teacher.

Diet coke isn't my favorite, but this experiment was awesome. The scientists were very creative in the last experiment and the explosions looked really cool in the video.

The coke erupts because diet coke has a different chemical in it that reacts with the mentos to make it fizz up and out of the bottle. The mentos and coke most likely dissolve into an air like material that pushes the coke out of the bottle and such high speeds that it comes bursting out of the bottle.

Anyone could guess that the concept shown in this video is chemical reaction.

I'm an easy person. I usually think any science experiment is cool, but I enjoyed the egg drop in Mrs. Joshi's class last year. Some of the kids had brilliant ideas and others were... not so brilliant. One kid brought a Burger King coffee cup with no lid and a whoopee cushion parachute. The parachute didn't help any, and the egg fell out. Amazingly, it survived (it wasn't boiled either) and the kid got an A.

I definitely would show this to Mrs. DeWitt. She probably would enjoy it, and we might even get to try it one day. Diet Coke and Mentos aren't very expensive so I could see us going outside on a hot day and getting covered in sticky soft drink.

To vary this experiment. You could try a different substance that has the same chemicals in it that mentos have or maybe a different kind of drink. I think it would be cool if they could make something like that out of Red Bull or Monster.

It would be fairly easy to make a movie out of your favorite science experiment. Some technology gifted kids could probably make this cool video with awesome graphics, but I would stick to a CD. MovieMaker is pretty straightforward and with a couple of transitions and a cool song by Josh Groban, your video could be amazing!

This video was really unique! Science is one of my favorite subjects! It was interesting to watch.
I wonder how long it took those two scientists to set up those experiments?

The coke erupted because the two chemicals didn’t go together. They had a reaction. In 6th grade I liked doing an experiment in Mrs. Joshi’s room. We had to protect an egg and then drop it from a high place and see if it would or wouldn’t break. That was fun to do. I think my science teacher, Mrs. DeWitt would like this video. She likes to do experiments.

Students usually like to see things rather than read about everything. When we visualize things we are working on, we usually have a better chance of remembering the information. I think we learn by doing. At least I do! Yes, I could video tape an experiment and make it really interesting with music and a lot of action.

This experiment was a physical reaction, not a chemical one. Water molecules strongly attract each other, linking together to form a tight mesh around each bubble of carbon dioxide gas in the soda. In order to form a new bubble, or even to expand a bubble that has already formed, water molecules must push away from each other. It takes extra energy to break this "surface tension." In other words, water "resists" the expansion of bubbles in the soda.

When you drop the Mentos into the soda, the gelatin and gum arabic from the dissolving candy break the surface tension. This disrupts the water mesh, so that it takes less work to expand and form new bubbles. Each Mentos candy has thousands of tiny pits all over the surface. These tiny pits are called nucleation sites - perfect places for carbon dioxide bubbles to form. As soon as the Mentos hit the soda, bubbles form all over the surface of the candy. Couple this with the fact that the Mentos candies are heavy and sink to the bottom of the bottle and you've got a double-whammy. When all this gas is released, it literally pushes all of the liquid up and out of the bottle in an incredible soda blast. You can see a similar effect when cooking potatoes or pasta are lowered into a pot of boiling water. The water will sometimes boil over because organic materials that leach out of the cooking potatoes or pasta disrupt the tight mesh of water molecules at the surface of the water, making it easier for bubbles and foam to form.
I would like to see more videos like this one!

This is a cool blog. I have seen this video before but have not seen it for quite some time. Basically, the coke erupts because there are a bunch of tiny pits on a Mento's surface. The carbonation from the coke collects in the pits, and instead of floating up like most things, the Mentos cause the coke to erupt. This actually works with M&M's, too, except there is no explosion, the coke just fizzes for a really long time. I would show this to my science teacher because she likes these kind of things. Some ways this experiment could be varied would be to try dropping different items into the coke to see the different kinds of eruptions that are caused. I could video an experiment, though it wouldn't be good quality, because I don't have a video camera and the one on my digital camera doesn't work very well. Since we all got to learn Windows Movie Maker this year, I know how to add music and put together different clips.

This blog has been one of the more interesting ones this year. The Diet Coke and Mentos explode because of the “Surface Effect.” Diet Coke has more carbon dioxide than other regular sodas, which forms bubbles. The surface of the mento is jagged and filled with nooks and crannies. The Carbon Dioxide finds all of these holes and fills them with bubbles. Since the Mentos are heavy, they drop to the bottom of the bottle, forming bubbles all the way down. This is what causes the fast and furious explosion out of the top of the Diet Coke bottle.

I enjoy participating in most science experiments, but I cannot think of a specific favorite. I probably wouldn’t show this video to my science teacher because she has probably already participated in this experiment.

With any science experiment, all you would have to do is film your experiment and slightly edit it in computer programs such as Windows Movie Maker to provide an entertaining video.

Yes, I would show this video to my science teacher. I really do not think this is anything we would be able to do in school though. Too messy.
You could use different types of pop to vary this experiment. See if other varieties of pop had more or less of a reaction. Also you could use different types of mints besides the Mentos. Some other mints may have a higher content that would make a bolder reaction.
Right now I cannot think of any experiments that I would do to put on a video, especially any that would be entertaining. It's pure science. There are various theories that are debated as to the exact scientific explanation of the phenomenon; all scientists claim that it is a physical reaction and not a chemical one. To form a new bubble, water molecules must push away from one another. It takes extra energy to break this surface tension. So, in other words, water resists the expansion of bubbles in the soda.

Each Mentos candy has thousands of tiny pores all over its surface. I like the classic baking soda and vinegar experiment. I would show this to my teacher; they make the Coke spew in pure art. I could try pep-o-mint life savers and reg coke. yes- use windows movie maker.

The coke erupts because the chemicals in the mentos react with the chemicals in the coke. I am not totally sure what process takes place but I think that would be a good guess. I have always loved science class. In the fourth grade we had to do an experiment with putting water droplets on a penny. We had to guess how many drops would fit. I would love to show this video to all of my future and past science teachers to show them that science isn’t all boring. I really don’t do that many experiments at home nut at school we do quite a lot. I think I could video our racecar crashes. I would add some cool music with an upbeat tempo.

The coke erupts because there is a certain substance in the mentos that mixed with the chemicals in the soda that makes it erupt. I think the scientific concept in this project is that when you mix chemicals many things can happen. My favorite science experiment was erupting volcanoes for Mrs. Joshi. Also, I liked doing this coke experiment with her as well. I would but I don’t think he would find it interesting. Yes, I could video an experiment and add music, because of what I have learned in Ms. Constables class I could do anything that involves powerpoint, movie maker, or pod casts.

I really liked this blog. I thought it was very interesting and really cool. It was different compared to the other blogs. It was my favrite blog out of all of the blogs. It's caused by "nucleation" of the carbon dioxide in the soda on the candy surface. It's a physical change process and not a chemical one. I believe the only science experiment that I remember is this one, “The Diet Coke and Mentos Experiment.” I would most likely not show this to my science teacher because most teaches and people have heard of this well known experiment. Yes you could video any of your experiments and add music, and provide an entertaining video. There are numerous ways to do this but I will only say one. The one is by going on Microsoft PowerPoint. First you would have to capture a video, and then you would, put the video on Microsoft PowerPoint. Then you can put CD’s or go to iTunes, and go get some entertaining music. Then if you’re not satisfied, you can go farther by putting borders, pictures, and much more.

The coke erupts because the mentos react with the chemicals in the diet coke. The scientific concept that is being illustrated is chemical reaction. My favorite science experiment mould probably be the diet coke and mentos experiment. I would show this video to my science teacher because it deals with science. Some other ways you could very this experiment is be using less coke and more mentos or by using more coke and less mentos. I could video any of my experiments, add music, and provide an entertaining video. I could do it by finding a cool experiment and perform it will I am being taped.

XD nice one!!!!!the coke erupts because of chemical reactions. no, I don't have a favorite science experiment, unless stuff is blowing up. no, I wouldn't show this video because she's probably already seen it. I'd change the experiment by using more mentos....a lot more. I don't really do experiments, so no, I couldn't.

Okay, I won't! The cok erupted because the molecules in the gas-liquid soultion mved around alot and bounced of eachother, causing a reaction. No, not really. Why? For reasons unknown. You could pour pop rocks into the coke, that could cause it to erupt. Yes. I would tape it, go to movie maker, impot songs and/or effects t make it more entertaing.

I remember doing this project in sixth grade. When we did this we used not diet coke, but regular coke. When we put the Mentos in the coke, the carbon in the coke reacted with the Mentos causeing an explosion. This is probably my favorite science experiment.
Mr. Tennet would probably know abou this experiment, and has probably done it a few times.

The coke erupts because when the mentos are put in the coke it fizzes up and explodes. A chemical reaction is being demonstrated. I don’t have a favorite science experiment because I think most of them are fun to do. One way you could vary this experiment would be to change the Coke to Pepsi. Yes, I could video an experiment I do. I would just video it upload the video onto my computer and add music.

The carbon- dioxide built up in the coke bottle, mixed with the acids from the mentos is what causes the coke to erupt. The scientific concept that takes place during this experiment is a chemical reaction. I have done many experiments in my life, so far. I don't think that I have experienced enough experiments to have a favorite, though.

I would show this video to my science teacher. My teacher (Mr. Tennant) probably already knows the outcome of the experiment, but I think that it could be good for him to how crazy it can get.

You might change the evaluation by using a different type of pop.

Yes, I could conduct an entertaining investigation, and make a video out of it. Some of my classmates and I would complete the procedure, while another peer video taped it. Then, through movie maker I could edit the video and add music, text, and additional information.

This blog was the coolest so far. I am not quite sure why coke erupts. But it might have something to do with the fizz in the coke and the mentos reacting. A chemical change is taking place when the diet coke and mentos erupt. We did this experiment last year at NASA. It was drizzling rain when we id it but it was still fun. Yeah, I would show my science teacher. They have probably erupted diet coke too. Some other ways to vary the experiment would probably be to add or take away mentos. Or different amounts of diet coke. Yes, we could video experiments. To add sound, though, we would tape then add sound effects and stuff to make it cool.

This blog was cool. I actually did this with my science teacher a couple of years ago.
I don't remeber exactly why it happens, but I know there's a chemical in the mentos that reacts with a chemical in the Coke. This also happens in baking soda and vinigar.
I remeber we did alot of expiriments that year , and this was one of my favorite.
I would deffinantly show this to my science teacher, even though she's probably done it.
You should deffinantly record your science expiriments. I mean, these guys did. I thought it was really cool how they made pretty much a water show with the coke.

The coke erupts because the mentos make the coke fizz and I really don't see a scientific concept in this video. Yea, I would show my science teacher this maybe he can make out some scientific concepts.=) Well I suppose that you can use viniger, salt, and maybe other things like that because it works a little bit cause I tried it before. It all depends on if I could tape some of my experiments considering that I really don't do many at home lol, but if I were to make one i would do something fun so no one would get bored with the video.

Because the Mentos and Diet Coke have a chemical reactions. A chemical reaction. My favorite science experiment would be when you put celery in colored water and it turns that color of the water. Yes I would. By using different size coke bottles and different amount of mentos.

This blog was so cool!!!!!!! I loved it is my favorite!!!!!!!!!!
The coke erupts because of the chemical reaction that is going on between the coke and the mentos. This would probably be my favorite science experiment because of how the chemical reaction makes the coke basically explode out of the bottle. If I could I would show this video to my science teacher and try to get him to do it with a lot of coke and mentos, maybe not all the coke and mentos they used in the video but close to it. I could video an experiment and add music but I wouldn’t like everyone seeing it, Im not very outgoing in that area.

The coke erupts because the carbantition in the soda and the air in the mentos reacts to eachother. My science teacher would most likly know this expirement, but I would show it to him. You could try different types of soda in this expiriment. Yes, I could tape some of my expiriments, but I would have to tape them first then go back and edit them. It could be entertaining but, it could be very boring also.

They concluded that the caffeine, potassium benzoate, aspartame, and CO2 gas contained in the Diet Coke and the gelatin and gum arabic ingredients of the Mentos all contribute to the jet effect. Also it is theorized that the physical structure of the Mentos is the most significant cause of the eruption. When flavored Mentos with a smooth waxy coating were tested in carbonated water, no reaction occurred, whereas standard Mentos added to carbonated water formed a small eruption, by their claim, affirming the nucleation-site theory. This was further supported when rock salt was used as an effective substitute for Mentos. Yes, I would show this to a science teacher because that coulb be an experiment or lab that the science pupils could learn. Yes, I could viedo and tape it and add music to it by using adasity and movie maker.
