What is Literature for?
Select ONE of the reasons for studying literature that is proposed in the video and relate it to one of the books that we have read in this class so far. What effect did the book have on you in relationship to the reason that you have selected? What is your favorite book that you have read in a classroom during your years in school? Why? Which of the reasons can you relate to the reason that you selected your favorite book?

The reason that I picked is that literature is so real. This relates to "The Pigman." It let us feel what the two kids felt when the pigman had died. My favorite book I have read in a classroom is "Peak." This book let us feel what Peak felt when he was making his ascent on Mt. Everest.
The reason that i picked is that literature is relates to real-life experiences. In the book " The Pigman," we were able to understand what the two kids felt after what they had done to Mr. Pignati. My favorite book I have read in a classroom is "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay." The book helped us understand the effects of war.
I picked the "Pigman." It was a sad book and had a lot of emotion. You could definitely feel the sadness when he died at the end. I liked the book "The Outsiders." We read it in class and it was also sad and had a lot of emotion. I didn't really like that Johnny died but at least it got him away from his parents. This book made me feel the sadness of the other people with less options than me.
The reason that I picked for studying literature is its relation to real-life. In the book "A Child Called It", David is abused. Many kids know someone that has been abused or experiences abuse first hand. The book gave me a strong emotion of sympathy towards David. My favorite book that we have read this year would have to be "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay". This book portrays effects of the aftermath of a war which many can relate to.

The reason I have chosen is that literature relates to real life. One novel we read in class, Mockingjay, can be related to emotions in real life. The heart break felt by Gale and the mourning for lives lost during the war seem so real. Even the political based war had an eerie feeling compared to today's society and war.

Literature is important because it relates to everyday experiences. I chose "The Pigman" because there was tons of emotion with John and Lorraines parents. Mr. Pignati helped them in every way he could, such as giving them drinks and food. You could tell there was emotion from where Mr. Pignati had his first heart attack, to his last day at the zoo. My favorite book that we have read is "The Outsiders." We read it at the beginning of the year. There was a lot of emotion in that also, like when John died, and when Dally died. These books made me sad because they all had unhappy endings.
The reason I decided to study literature is that it has a relation to reality. In "Four Perfect Pebbles" the main character was abused. She lived in a concentration camp with many Jews. You can relate this to reality because many people have been abused. Most abuse doesn't go to this extent but there is still abuse in homes and work places. This book made me have sympathy for anyone and anything that has ever been abused. My favorite book we have read this year was "The Pigman". This book was sad but also showed emotion. I liked this book the most due to the realistic aspect.

Literature is important because it relates to everyday experiences. I chose "The Pigman" because there was tons of emotion with John and Lorraines parents. It showed great emotions and accurate details. For example, when the children lied to their parents. Things like that happen in everyday life styles.Although, my favorite book we have read in class is "The Child Called It", even though it was a very depressing book it showed great strength and dignity and was extremely realistic.

Studying literature is really important because it talks about the real world. For example in "MockingJay" it portrays real life situations. One of my favorite books we have read this year is "The Outsiders" this was a great book. This book also portrayed aspects of literature. After we read the book in class we watched the movies and it was just a really good movie/book overall.

Literature is important in life because it saves time. If we didn't learn some of the lessons that we learned in life, it would take a lot longer for us to realize what the wrong choice is. For example, in the novel "The Outsiders", we learn how to be courageous and heroic when we read about how Johnny and Ponyboy went in and saved the kids from the burning building. If we wouldn't have read about them, it would've taken us a lot longer to understand how to risk your life for someone else. My favorite book that we have read this year is "Mockingjay". I liked the Hunger Games movies but when I read the books I realized that they were even better. Mockingly related to the world with how certain people can be treated badly, how a dictator can change the world, and how regular everyday people can step up and stand against the enemy.

One reason that literature is so important. One reason is from the novel " The Pigman " written by Paul Zindel. It shows what it feels like to have someone that you know and love die. This novel shows many aspects it was wonderful to read too.

The reason suggested in the video that most relates to the novels I've read in class is that of literature reflecting our own thoughts and presenting relatable characters. My favorite novel to read this year was definitely The Outsiders; one of the many reasons I enjoyed it so much was that I could relate to the characters and the themes of love, loyalty, and especially isolation. It was nice to see my own emotions reflected in a novel read decades ago; it made me realize that all people experience these feelings, no matter the time period. My favorite book to have read during my school career is definitely Unwind by Neal Shusterman, and my enjoyment of it can be related to the reason proposed in the video stating that it allows us to experience a variety of different situations while staying safe, thus making us wiser and better people. Essentially, the novel opened my eyes to a variety of different points of view and a whole lot of terrifying "what-ifs" that could happen should people stay so divided over an issue that they go to war and settle said war with a terrible compromise. I was able to experience this story and get my own thoughts on the subject matter without actually living through a war or a post-apocalyptic dystopia, and I feel that reading the book enticed me to do more research on the topics presented and subsequently be more knowledgeable of them.

I chose "The Pigman" because of all the emotion with John and Lorraines parents. Mr. Pignati helped them as much as he could, he gave them drinks and food. There was emotion from where Mr. Pignati had his first heart attack, to his last day at the zoo. Literature relates to everyday experiences. Out of all the books we have read I like "The Outsiders." Its an emotional book too, like when John died, and when Dally died. Because of the endings, these books are sad.
A reason I picked for studying literature is that it resonates to real life. Such as in " The Outsiders" we can relate to the boys having to basically fend for themselves and grow up way too fast. This book showed me the other side, that not everyone is nurtured by their family and some have to do it all themselves. Those boys only had eachother;whereas, I and many of my friends have many people supporting us. My favorite book that I have read in class is "Among the Hidden". I loved this book because it let the readers know that it's okay to be different. Which is something that happens in real life because not everyone is the same.

I picked how literature relates to real life. We have read many books this year that put us in situations that we would never experience in our life. For example in The Pigman it talks about how he was lonely and two kids ended up being his best friends because of a prank phone call where they scammed him. In another book called The Hunger Games it talked about a girl who started a war with the government and took over the country. For my final example in The Outsiders it put the reader in a situation where they were hiding after killing someone who had tried to kill them.
One reason literature is studied is it relates to real-life experiences that one may have. For example, in "The Pigman" Mr. Pignati is so lonely that he lies to John and Lorraine about where is wife is when she is actually dead. Many people suffer from depression and loneliness after the loss of a loved one so Mr. Pignati's actions could've been taken by someone in real life. My favorite book that I have red throughout my school career would be "Among the Hidden." The reason of why literature is used for this book would be to save time. In the novel there are not allowed to be more than two children in a family, and when more than two children are born to a family the government takes thee child. This novel is a time saver to me because I would never be able to experience what it would be like to have my youngest sister taken away just because my mom already had two children.

Studying literature is important because it helps people understand and cope with real life situations. For isntance, the book "MockingJay," by Suzanne Collins has constant struggles as the people in the book deal with war. The effect the book had on me was a great emotion of pity. Consequently, my favorite book we've read in class has to be "MockingJay," written by Suzanne Collins. The reason why it's my favorite is because of the emotion it makes you feel. I feel like I can relate to how loyal and committed Katniss is towards her sister Primrose. For example, throughout the entire book every thing Katniss had done was for her Primrose. Katniss's sister is the reason why there's a book; although, there fictional characters. However, I don't have siblings, but I am very loyal to my family members and friends. Last but not least, my favorite book that I've Read during my school years so far is "Among the Hidden," by Margaret Peterson Haddix which was the first book in the "Shadow Children," series. The way I relate to it is how the main character, Luke Garner, is isolated, hidden, and an introvert. Although his case is more severe, sometimes I feel the same way that he felt.

The study of literature is very important because it gives you a perspective of real life issues. For example the Outsiders having a lot of conflict and had to stick together to get through all kinds of sticky situations. Mockingjay was probably my favorite book we read in class because I think the reality of war is interesting.
The study of literature is important because it can relate to real life. In the video it said how you really cant say what's on your mind, but some characters in novels can be the same way. I the the book "Mockingjay" in class which shows the aftermath of war, other places could look like this. Although, the war was a political war it still left the battle cite in rubble. A very slim amount of places could look like this in the world. My favorite book that I read in class was "The Outsiders" it shows how great friend stick together in others needs, and to stand strong after something challenges you.

Literature is highly important because it gives us the chance to learn and grow from a variety new experiences without ever being in danger of being hurt. For example, in "Mockingjay" by Susanne Collins, the reader is shown a dystopian world plagued by war. The novel shows the pain of losing the people you care about. It shows what it's like to be broken. The reader feels all the pain the protagonist, Katniss, does, without ever being in any of the danger she is in. Seeing what it is like to go through something like that can help to prevent people from wanting war; thus, the novel succeeds in making the reader wiser. My favorite book that I have read in school is "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton. This novel represents another reason why literature is important: it is relatable. It shows how important family is, whether the family is related through blood or not. I can't imagine how devastated I would be if I lost two of my best friends within 24 hours of each other.

Literature is highly important because it gives us the chance to learn and grow. Like in the book "the Outsiders" by S.C. Hinton, ponyboy and Jonny they have to learn to work together and go through hard time. For example, in the book "The Child Called It", even though it was a very depressing book it showed great strength and dignity and was extremely realistic. I would have to say that my favorite book that we have read this year is the book "outsiders" because because it shows how family and friends are there for you.

There are many reasons for studying literature that were proposed in the video. One of the most important reasons that I chose, is that literature helps you be a more amiable and sympathetic person. The book that I can relate to this concept of literature is "The Child Called It." This book shows you a different perspective and point of view on another person's lifestyle. This goes with the story because this certain type of literature can help you identify with and understand other people. The book affected me by causing me to understand more about how others do not have the same life as me. My favorite book that I have read in my school career is "Peak" by Roland Smith. It was my favorite because it was really enjoyable and shows you someone else's life experiences. The book "Peak" goes with the concept of realism in literature. This is because it shows you a personal anecdote.

There are a lot of reasons to show how important literature is and the reason I picked was was how it relates to real life. For instance in the book "The Child Called It" all the events that took place could be happening to a child everyday. My fav book that have read this year would have to be "The Outsiders" because it was very entertaining to read and watch the movie.

Literature is important for helping us understand situations in a real life situation. In the book "Mr. Pignati" was very down about how lonely he always was. Once he met lourane and john he started to perk up since he wasn't as lonely. When me. Pignati passed away it caused depression and hard times for the ones who loved him. My favorite book that we read was "The Outsiders" in my mind I felt connected to them but once dally and johnny died it felt like they were real.
Literature is important in many ways, but I believe that the most important reason is that it makes you a kinder and more sympathetic person. For instance, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is written from a greasers point of view. Greasers seem like nothing more than gangsters and criminals, but they're actually real people with real feelings. They know what it's like to lose things in life; they know what it's like to lose the people they care about most. In good literature, an author can connect the reader and the narrator, despite how different they may be. Literature gives you insight into other people's world and helps you understand why people act the way they do.

The reason that I decided to pick was that literature is very real. This reason relates to the novel "The Pigman." Because the author used literature, it let us feel what the two children were feeling after what they did to the Pigman and after he died. My favorite book that we have read this year is "The Outsiders" because it showed a lot of emotion throughout the story using different aspects of literature. Using the types of literature that the author used in "The Outsiders" gave it more feeling and showed what the characters were thinking.

The type of reason for studying literature I chisel is that it is a cure for loneliness. In the book "Mockingjay" Katniss was lonely and didn't Realtek to many people in the novel. The author conveyed an image of loneliness which let the reader feel how Katniss felt. My favorite book that I have read during my years in school is "Among the Hidden". It is my favorite book because it has mystery and suspense. A reason that relates to this book is that reading saves time. The story talks a bout a world were you can only have 2 kids. The story is in three point of view of a third child. We would never experience that.
The reason that I picked for studying literature is its relation to real-life. In the book "A Child Called It", David is mentally and physically abused. Many kids know someone that has been abused or have had past experiences. The book gave me a strong emotion of sympathy towards David. My favorite book that we have read this year would have to be "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay". This book portrays effects of the aftermath of a war which many can relate to.

The reason tha I picked to study literature is that is has relation to real-life. In the book "A Child Called It", David is abused by his mother. Many people can relate to knowing someone who is abused or that has been abused. This book made me feel very sad toward David. My favorite book that we have read this year is "Mockingjay". This book had a lot of action, it also had a reality of what it could be like after war.

There are many reasons to why we study literature. The book "The pigman" is a book we read in class. It's about how 2 teens lost somebody they deeply cared for. I can relate to that in many ways because I have lost many people that I loved and cared for. My favorite book that we have read is "A child called it" it's about a boy being abused and I like it the most because I've never realized how often this happens.

There are many reasons for studying literature, which one is for its relation to real-life problems that you have. The Mockingjay is a great example of this, for demonstrating what war can do to people mentally, emotionally, and physically. I have studied different wars before, but have not been able to capture the emotional quality of something. This book, shown from a first person perspective, captures that for me. Mockingjay, due to this, is probably my favorite book because of this. It gives me a new perspective of the world around me.

One of the main reasons we study literature is to learn about millions of different situations. In the book "The Outsiders," we learned about Ponyboy and Johnny's adventure, after Johnny stabs a Soc and is on the run. My favorite book read in the years of school, so far, is "Wonder". In the book, August talks about looking and acting different than his classmates. Then he gets bullied by the way he looks. He later gets his sprits lifted when he meets certain people that I can't remember. The reason can relate because this is one of the situations, in life, that you have to overcome, to do greatness.
There are many different reasons people choose to study literature. The reason I choose is it relates to everyday experiences. The pig man would be a good example because throughout the story there is a lot of emotion. Also the outsiders could relate to that as well.-elaina whiteman

The reason I chose was real life experiences. Literature can be related to a lot of those. For example, in the book, "The Pigman," John and Lorraine had to cope with everyday things that people have to cope with. For example, when Mr. Pignati died, they had to cope with his loss and had a hard time doing so. My favorite book we read in class would have to be "The Pigman," because of just how interesting it was and a lot of the stuff that happened in that book i could easily relate to in some way or another.
The reason I picked is the real life lessons in literature. For example in Pigman, the 2 kids have to grief of the pig mans death and have to move on. But there is another book were another man moves in and they get to try again. One of the books that we've read that I like is the diary of Anne frank. This book let the reader fully understand how bad ww2 was and how scary it was to be a Jew.
The reason I chose for what literature is for is the real life lessons. The book that I chose was The Pigman because most people can relate to it in some way. For example, in The Pigman you experience the loss and grief of two teenagers. I can relate to this because of loved ones I have lost. Also in The Pigman, Mr.Pignati has loneliness and depression. Many people in the world have depression and often feel lonely. Another book we read that people real to is A Chile Called It. You can relate to it if you have every been abused. My favorite book we read this year was Mockingjay.

Literature is important in many ways. One of these ways is that, if you're reading an interesting, adventurous, or even scary book, your mind can explore and you can experience the things that are happening in the book in your mind. In the book "The Outsiders" you can feel people's emotions and know what people in real life also go through. It let's you understand what people have to deal with in the book, and in real life. It gives you another idea about daily life. Literature is important in many ways and can explore the mind of every individual.
The reason that I picked for studying literature is its relation to real-life. In the book "A Child Called It", David is abused. Many people or even knows a person that has been abused or experiences has experienced it. The book gave me a emotions towards David and for the kids who get abused. My favorite book that we have read this year would have to be "The Pigman". The book was a great book and it gave me lots of emotions toward the book. The book somewhat seemed real.

Literature you can use in everyday experiences. I remember reading a child called it when the main character david gets tortured. And someone or how it can relate to where you know someone who is abused. or The pigman where your trying to help or make a new friend. And that also relates to real life experiences. In conclusion to all of this literature relates to everyday experiences.
Both my favorite novel we've read this year and throughout all of my school years, The Outsiders has relatable and interesting characters that thrill and entise the reader to trudge on through their amazing stories and characteristics. The idea of two seperate peer groups arguing amoungst themselves isn't so alien as anyone who spends more than two minutes in the school cafeteria can see it happen live. And the internet is just a big cafeteria in a sense as the same behavior is exumed there too.

A beneficial reason for studying literature would be the relation to real-life experiences. Throughout novels and stories, the reader is presented with many realistic scenarios that could possibly occur in one's own life. The book The Outsiders, is very relatable in an average person's life. The concept of friendship is strongly portrayed. The novel relates to my own life through the closeness my friends share. Ponyboy's group of friends stay together throughout their problems. My favorite book that we have read so far is The Outsiders. The Outsiders has been my go to book since sixth grade when I first read it. I love the concepts portrayed throughout the story of the Greasers and Socs.

The study of literature is used for writing in a certain form, of writing that every one should or is using everyday throughout their life. Not only does literature show the common ways o writing each word in an important type of writing, it also gives various examples of why or how a person should use it. Literature provides a means of expressing the creative and innovative ways in which we humans interpret the world and all things in it. It also acts as a source of inspiration, entertainment, and opportunities to develop the mind. And it shows most causes of the mining of this generation today.
A favorite book of mine this year is A Child Called It. I like it for an inspirational story about a child fighting against his abusive mother. If effected me by it showing the worst of human kind and a brave child. My favorite book is Chomp because i like the characters fighting against the wildlife in Florida
Studying literature is very important as it keeps track of many records such as history, laws, etc. Books can also help people get through a tough time like the book A Child Called It or The Outsiders which teach us to never give up no matter how much of a downside there is to a situation. Like how Ponyboy saw Johnny kill someone with a knife and how they had to run away but in the end Johnny didn't want to kill him it was just self defense as they were going to drown Ponyboy. My favorite book that we read so far however is The Outsiders as I had seen the movie before but had never read the book.

Literature is very important for our English language. Literature can be compared with one of the novels we did in the year and that novel can be the child called it. It compares to that because of the prases he uses when he gets beat by his mother. My favorite book this year was the Pig man because it was very exiting to me and how it was told. That why that is my favorite book.
The reason i picked this literature is because it relates to many life experience that some people will have to face in life. In the book "The Pigman" we were able to relate to some of the things that happened to the two children in the story. We were able to understand how the children felt about losing somebody so close to them. My favorite book that we have read in this class so far has been "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay." The book really helps me understand why wars are so violent, and it's because people we thought we could trust turn on us, and try to hurt the ones we love. Even though the war didn't happened while we were born, it still helps us readers understand what happens during the war.
The book that we have read is Mockingjay that relates to real life. The conflict that is in the book can be related to today and someways. My favorite book is the Outsiders. I like the way it shows what life was like back then. This book keeps your interest throughout the whole book. It also relates to real life as well.
The reason I have chosen is that literature relates to real life. One novel we read in class, Mockingjay, can be related to emotions in real life. The reason I picked is that literature relates to real life.A book we read in class "The Pigman" we were able to relate about what the kids went through. You could also feelhow they felt about losings someone that was so important to them.My favorite book that we read in class would have to be "The Pigman" because i could understand what the kids were going through.
One reason on why Literature is used is, in my opinion, much more real. One case is "The Pigman" because it tells a story about teenagers meeting an old man, and seeing him in his last few days. An effect on me is to spend time with your grandparents.
The reason I chose for literature's importance is that it makes us nicer. Literature shows the world from the perspective of people different from us, and shows the way varying people think and feel. One example from a story we read in class is "Pigman", because it shows the life and feeling of an old, slightly insane man, and how he just wants company.
The reason I choose for literatures importance is that it's makes things better. Literature shows how people feel and what they think from their perspective. An example from a story in class was "Pigman" because the story shows things like feelings and how people don't want or need to be alone.
The reason i've chose literature's importance is that it gives people the feeling that things are unique, helpful, and better. Literature tends to shine peoples own perspective and thoughts in a better way. An example that can be used from are class is "Pigman." The story shows emotions such as saddness and lonlyness. The story shows compasional feelings and how people domt have to be alone.
