I chose James Dean because he was a movie star and died when he was only 24. The three facts I chose were 1. James Dean's mother enrolled him in tap dance lessons when he was three years old. 2. James Dean's first television appearance was for a Pepsi commercial. 3. Two hours before he was killed in a vehicle accident, he got a speeding ticket. James Dean was very handsome and was nominated for two awards for his movies after he died. He was a very famous actor.

I chose Marilyn Monroe because she is a legendary actress. Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California and sadly died of Barbiturate overdose on August 5, 1962 in Brentwood Los Angeles, California. She is known as a major sex symbol of the 1950s, she is largely known for playing the comic "Blonde Bombshell." She has had three husbands Arthur Miller, Joe DiMaggio, and James Dougherty. She was married to Arthur Miller from 1956-1961. She was married to Joe DiMaggio from 1954-1955. She was married to James Dougherty from 1942-1946. Marilyn Monroe is still widely recognized today. She still has an impact on society today through her femininity and her beauty.

The event I chose in the song was the John F Kennedy line when he quotes, "JFK was blown away!" This is referring to when John F Kennedy got assassinated on November 22nd, 1963. JFK was our United States 35th president. He was a Navy war hero and the only president to receive the purple heart award. He was assassinated by Lee Oswald. Oswald was later arrested and was pressed with criminal charges. John F Kennedy was a fantastic president and helped America accomplish great things. Most of all he went down in history and was a great inspiration.

I choose children of thalidomide. The drug thalidomide was sold as lmmunoprin. This was first sold in Germany 1957. It was used for many things including child birth but they soon realized the children were being born without arms and with deformed legs. Doctors soon licked the deformations with thalidomide and shortly after they stopped using it for child birth. That is why it is important to history because without those scientist all of us would be born without arms.

In Billy Joel's song, I chose Einstein. Einstein was a highly intelligent mathematician. He was known for coming up the number pi. He was born on March 14, 1879. He died on April 18, 1955. One fact about him is that he came up with the formula e=mc squared in his paper on "Equivalence of Matter and Energy". It was actually first used by Friedrich Hasenohrl. This was a giant controversy, but because of his work on relativity, the academic world gave all the credit to Einstein. Another fact about him is in 1921 he won the Nobel Prize for Physics, not for his Theory of Relativity, but for explanation of the photoelectric effect. The final fact about him is that even though many people say that he failed math at a young age, he actually mastered calculus at the age of fifteen.

The person that I chose to write about was Bob Dylan. He a very popular folk rock singer and songwriter during the 1960s and early 1970s. He is considered a poetic writer whose songs talked about some of the major problems that were going on in society at that time. He was influenced by other popular rock musicians such as Elvis Presley in his early music career. He was also greatly influenced by a folk singer named Woody Guthrie. Bob Dylan released many popular hits during his career, it is believed by most fans that his most popular song was "Like a Rolling Stone". My personal favorite song of his is "It's Alright Ma I'm Only Bleeding".

The part of the song I am choosing to type about is Sputnik. It orbited the Earth for three weeks with battery, then continued for 2 months without battery. The way that Sputnik "started a fire" is that "he" initially started the Cold War. The Cold War, in turn, started the Space Race. That, in turn, lead to the many attempts to reach the moon, plant a flag, and bring back the men alive. Sputnik has then, essentially, sparked NASA, Space X, and Trump's "Space Force". You may see where this is going... So, let us hope that Trump does not want to fire Star Wars style lasers at Russia...

“We Didn’t Start the Fire” is about all the important events that happened within the last 50-60 years. One of the events was what happened in Little Rock, Arkansas. Back in the 1950s, segregation was still legal. People tried to stop it, but the only problem was dealing with the people who don’t want to stop. It wasn’t illegal to be black and go to an all-white school, but it was hard. Most black people didn’t want to go through that anyway, until nine girls volunteered to go to Little Rock Central High School. At first, no one let them go through the door to the school, but eventually, they were allowed to go in. Even after that, people throwed objects or food at them, they were called trash, they even had to have adults escort them to their classes so nobody would hurt them. Yet no matter what, they stayed strong. The girls were known as Little Rock Nine and some of them are still alive today.

In The song "We Didn't Start the Fire". One thing that stood out to me was Woodstock. Woodstock was a music festival held on a dairy farm in the Catskill Mountains, northwest of New York city between August 15-18, 1969. The music festival attracted more then 400,000 people on accident. They where not supposed to get this many people at a music festival on a dairy farm in New York. It was a three day festival that drew more and more people everyday. Some of the best musical acts played at Woodstock including Jimi Hendrix,Johnny Winter and The Who. Those are just three of sixteen bands and singers. Only two bands were scheduled to play Woodstock but were unable to make the festival. The festival was organized by four inexperienced promoters who nonetheless signed a who's who of current rock acts.

In the song I chose to research “trouble in the Suez” this refers to the Egyptian control over the Suez Canal. After world war 2 British and French empires where dwindling fast. As the two giants fell to nation hood they feared a major resession with the loss of territory. When Egypt became free from British rule they claimed the Suez to be there territory, but since it was a major money production area because that’s where all trade to the Indian Ocean from the Mediterranean Sea goes through. So when Egypt moved troops there the British retaliate as well as the French because they also feared the collapse. Although it was a valent effort by the brits and French the Egyptians took the Suez.

The topic I chose from "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel is when he says Rock Around the Clock". This song was the first rock-and-roll hit in 1954. The song was sang by Billy Haley and the Comets. Even though it was sang by Billy Haley and the Comets, the ones who wrote the lyrics were James E. Myer, and Max C. Freedman. These two songwriters were the co-writers for this song. The song was released in 1973. "Rock Around the Clock" was in the album of 41 Originals Hits from the Soundtrack American Graffiti. The award that this song won was Grammy Hall of Fame. The song made it to the top 40 most popular songs and was in a movie called "Blackboard Jungle". When the song first came out, 75,000 copies were sold. History is a big part in everyones life. These 40 years of history have been made by many people. Either if its good, or bad.

Peter pan is a fictional character created by a Scottish novelist. He was a young careless boy that could fly. Peter leads a group of boys who refuses to grow up. They live in the mythical island of never land. they interact with fairies, pirates, mermaids, native Americans and sometimes children from the outside world. Peter pan is considered a cultural icon symbolizing youthful innocence. He wore a green outfeit with tights and a cap with a red feather in it. He was a red handed boy with brown eyes and pointy elf like ears. Sometimes when peter pan is trying to be recreated, they make his outfeit out of leaves and vines. I'm guessing because most guys don't want to wear tights.

Even thought television is not a person it is mentioned in the song. Television has transformed since its first customer release, shortly after The Second World War. Life went from barely being able to afford this ‘new technology’ to now where almost every room in the house has one. The invention of TV showed sound and a screen, and started out as black and white. In around 2008 the first flat screen TV appeared in a retailer store. And from the on our Televisions are getting wider and flatter. TV is also very important, it allows the viewers to learn world wide news and even can be watched for entertainment.

In the song “We Didn’t Start the Fire” the words “England’s got a new queen” these words are directed to Queen Elizabeth ll. The Queen still rules England to this day, even though she may be 93 years old. Queen Elizabeth was crowned queen on June 2, 1953. The Queen is also the longest remaining monarch of Britain ever. She has been in control of England longer than her grandmother, Queen Victoria. Queen Elizabeth ll has many special privileges. For example, she is the only person in England allowed to drive a vehicle without a permit or a license. Overall, Queen Elizabeth is one very interesting person.

I am choosing Alabama for me to write about. The Alabama boycotts and other things took place there. Rosa parks was a civil rights activist. And she was jailed for not giving up her seat on a bus for a couple white people. And she was mainly known for her standing up for herself and other black males and females. She was probably one of the best civil rights leaders and had one of the best reasons and arguments out of all of the cicil rights things that have happened.

Billy Joel mentions the subject of baseball five times in this song. Baseball has no doubt made a huge impact in this country. I chose the baseball player Mickey Mantle mentioned in the song. Mickey Mantle played on the New York Yankees and is known as one of the greatest switch hitters and players of all time. Mickey hit 536 homers and wore the number seven. He won seven championships and holds six records for the World Series. Mickey would have played a lot longer but he tripped over a sprinkler in the outfield during a game and injured his knee really bad. He was never the same baseball player after that. Unfortunately, he was assasinated while driving in Dallas in an open convertible. JFK had a huge impact on putting a man on the moon. He was also the president during the peak of the Cold War. He had a wife, who was in the car with him when he was shot and a daughter. His son was born a couple months after his death but died two days later due to birth defects.

John F Kennedy was a great president and helped America accomplish great things. Most of all he was a great part in history and was a great inspiration.

The person I chose was Marilyn Monroe. The first fact about her was that she has had 3 spouses! Secondly, her first marriage was an arranged marriage, and it happened when she was 15 years old. The reason why is that she was going in and out of foster care and the person she was staying with was moving to West Virginia. So they talked their 20 year-old neighbor into marrying so she didn’t have to go back to an orphanage. Lastly, although she died from a barbiturate overdose some people believe that it wasn’t really a suicide but a murder.
