Polar Bear Mom and Cubs | National Geographic

What can we do to protect the Polar Bears from extinction? How has climate change affected the Polar Bear? Where can you go to see polar bears in their natural habitat? Why might the Polar Bear have been chosen as a school mascot? What are some characteristics of the Polar Bear that might be worth emulating?

Okay, so one thing that us humans can do to prevent animal extinction is to have the polar bears inside of zoos, or to stop predators from killing too many. However, climate change has destroyed their homes as well. Some places that humans can comfortably see them in a naturalistic habitat is the zoo. Now, I personally find it weird that we would choose an animal that actively chases down humans for a mascot, but it works. Relentless instinct, cold killing, worrying only about their young, a relatively wise choice for a mascot. Despite their harsh nature, they can also be caring creatures.

Personally, I think that we could help save Polar Bears bypassing more laws and trying to save them and put them in rescue center. But the climate isn't helping them either, it is getting hotter and hotter by the decades. In December of 2011 it was 9.9 Fin Antarctica which is all time high down there. To go see them we could go up North or way down South where it is much colder. The reason I personally think the Polar bear was chosen as the mascot for FSHS is because the polar bear is one of the fiercest bears and it shows how strong they really are. It is a rather big creature with a bite of 1200 per square second.

One thing that we can do is to stop polluting the waters because polar bears die because of trash. Polar bears are losing ice and when they need to take a break on swimming , but do not want to go back to land they lay on ice floating in the water and if that is gone they can't rest and they might die of exhaustion. Canada is one of the places to see a polar bear in the wild. work hard .

One way we can protect the polar bears from extinction is by actually caring to help them live. Also, another way you can keep them from extinction is by not polluting everything. The climate change has affected them too. One why climate has affected them is by their home. They are used to being in the cold, but now with the heat rising like california fires their home is melting. One place you can go to see polar bears in their natural habitats is Antarctica. One reason why I think the polar bear was chosen to be our mascot is because they are strong and protctive of their family's. One characteristic a polar bear has that we need to emulate is their protective instinct.

We could help them in there fight for survival by taking a few into captivity where we increase there population then let them out. The polar bear's habbitats have been melting away due to climate change. You can find polar bears in tundra biomes. The odvious reason for our school mascot is because the school is consistently freezing. Polar bears can be aggressive.

One thing we can do to protect the Polar Bears from extinction, is try to lessen the pollution humans are producing. We can do this by recycling, limit driving, and conserving energy. The climate has affected the Polar Bear by raising the temperature, causing ice to melt and water temperature to go up. We can see Polar Bears in their natural habitat on the ice of the Arctic Ocean. The Polar Bear might have been chosen as a school mascot because of the size, strength, and abilities that they have. They are excellent swimmers and are extremely fierce. I think the biggest characteristic worth emulating is their strength.

We can donate money to the polar bear's prote tion foundation. There habitat has been melting due to climate change. Since out parwnts will probably not want us to go to the natural artic habitat of the polar bears we will have other give our support to the people who can. We should show strength and beauty like the polar bears. We have probably picked the polar bear as our mascot it because it is strong and we want to be represented by an animal of strength. The polar bear is also very brave. We also want to be represented by something brave. The polar bear is also very protective like some of the teachers at our school.

Unknown said...

Although must of us are too young to volunteer, when we’re older we can donate money. Climate change has warmed up their homes, and melted the ice that keeps them alive. They’re made to withstand below freezing temperatures so when the temperature is constantly way above that it can seriously damage their environments. There’s really only a few places polar bears roam freely anymore. I believe the Polar Bear was chosen as our mascot because they’re supposed to represent strength. Polar bears are actually very interesting animals who live off of many different types of fish.

There are many things we can do to help these polar bears, but we can stop them from being hunted. Polar bears have to live in very cold climate, and since the earth is getting warmer, the temperature are getting higher, and ice is meliting. I can go to many zoos to see polar bears. Like the Pittsburgh Zoo. They are large and strong animals. So it is a very good and strobe mascot. Most of them know what needs to be done.

In my opinion, to save the polar bears we can reduce global warming and pollution by not burning fossil fuels (less), driving cars less, use more energy efficient products, and recycle. Climate change and global warming is melting their habitats. Polar bears can be found in the arctic circle which is: Canada, Russia, the United States (in Alaska), Greenland and Norway. Overall I feel that polar bears make a good mascot because of characteristics they display such as strength, endurance, and they appear calm but are actually very dangerous.

To save the polar bears I think we just need to reduce pollution. Climate has affected the polar bears habitat by global warming melting their homes. We can most likely find polar bears in more cold areas of the world such as Antarctica. I think the polar bear may have been chosen for the school mascot because it represents strength.A characteristic we can emulate would be that they are calm but yet super dangerous.

A way we can keep the Polar Bears from going extinct is to care about what goes on outside of our live and what happens to the animals in this world. Climate has effected the Polar Bears because they are creatures of the cold because that’s what they are made to be like. You can see polar bears in their natural habitat in the arctic. The Polar Bear may have been chosen as the school mascot because they are adorable but they’re feisty. Polar Bears never stay in the same burrows more than once. They have a diet of many different fish.

We as humans can do a lot to save the polar bears for starters we can donate money and reduce pollution we can also have people watch over them. Polar bears live in cold climates so if their climate goes warm they will be in trouble they have adapted to live in cold weather. We have chosen the polar bears because they fight and strive like us and adapt to their nature also you can go to like Antarctica to see them

We could bring them into a controlled area where the environment and other animals can't affect them. We can also donate to organizations that arfe trying to help the polar bear. Climate change has affected them by changing their environment which makes it harder for them to live.Their habitat is melting so they have less room to live. You could go to the zoo or any area that is considered to be in the tundra biome. They are considered fierce and intimidating. They also protect each other. Their strength, bravery, and fierceness.

Climate change is a big one that we need to reduce. It is cutting of the polar bears from its main source of food. Polar bears can commonly be found in Northern Canada. We need to protect the polar bears because of how interesting and unique they are. They are most likely our school mascot because polar bears are protective of their cubs. Also the hair on the polar bear is translucent. And they have two layers of hair.

In some ways we could protect the polar bears by tracking them or taking them in. These polar bears are going extincted and we don't know why because its not global warming that is doing this. the temperature hasn't really change its the things around them that are killing the habitat. the closes place you can find a polar bear is in the Hudson Bay. The reason for the polar bear is the mascot is because one of the first couches had the last name Ice so they named the team the Ice man. People didn't really like the name so they said polar bears live in ice so why not the polar bears.

The only way we can save polar bears and other endangered species is by simply not thinking we are above doing things. If you think about it, people try to get things done the laziest way possible, like littering because you don’t want to simply find a trash can. Those people have most likely used an excuse like “It was only once”, or “How much harm can one person do?”, but the problem is that millions of people have said the same thing, and nothing has changed. I think that the polar bear/ polar cub is our mascot because they fight even during the toughest times. They don’t wait to die out in Antarctica or Canada, they fight for survival.

A way that we can stop the polar bears becoming extinct is find the polar bears and watch their every move. If we watch the polar bears then we can see why they are in danger. Maybe it could be climate change, but we don't know for sure. If it is climate change then it has affected the polar bears by melting the ice away.Polars bears habitat is cold, icy weather. You can find them in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Russia, and Norway. I think the polar bear is our mascot because it is strong and gets through tough situations. They also act like a family and protect one another.

We can do many things to help the polar bears, but one thing we can do is donate money. If we would donate money to the wild life foundation it would make a difference. They will be able to protect them from becoming extinct. The climate is becoming warmer all around the world. It is also making the temperature increase in the Artic, which the polar bears aren't used to. You would be able to see these amazing animals in the southern part of the world. The polar bears are represented as mascot, because they are really smart. They are learning how to survive in the harsh weather. I think one of the characteristics to emulate is their intelligence.

The best way to save polar bears is not funding groups or tracking them but to prevent ourselves from doing further damage. We destroy their environments by pollution, littering,e.t.c but now we should pay the price. We have effected the climate and caused severe climate change that is melting the polar ice caps. Polar bears live in only cold places like Alaska and Canada. I think our mascot is the polar bear because around their family they seen calm but around others they can go from calm to fierce in five seconds. They are extremely dangerous but caring creatures.

I think we can help to save the polar bears by helping wildlife conservation. Climate change has effected them by giving them less land. You can see polar bears in there natural habitat at zoos that have polar bears. I think a way humans could help save polar bears from excitation is to reduce our affect on the environment, as to avoid more of the habitat being melted. Polar bears live in places such as Canada, Russia, Norway, and Alaska. I think they are a school mascot choice because of their sense of protection of their young, and their fighting spirit.

Unknown said...

Humans can’t do too much to protect polar bears at this point, but there are a few things that we can do. Pollution can cause climate change and this is causing icebergs and many parts of Antarctica to slowly melt away. We can stop pollution by stop running these huge factories. This is removing habitats of the polar bears so they are dying off also. The polar bear might have been selected as the mascot because it is a fierce and protective animal that will do anything to keep his/her cub alive. I’m proud that our schools mascot is a polar bear.

Unknown said...

Climate change is making the whether warmer. It is melting the ice; therefore, creating less homes for the polar bears. Pollution is one of the main reason the whether is getting warmer. One way we can stop it is raising awareness for this subject. If we raise awareness for this like walking somewhere that is in walking distance instead of driving. That would help with all the pollution.

I think one important thing we can do as humans to save polar bears is stopping water pollution and another would be to help protect them from predators. Polar bears' natural habitat is in the freezing cold artic. Our school could have chosen the polar bear as a mascot because polar bears are dominant and fierce and we want our school to be fierce and on top.

There are many problems that are leading to these animal extinction. Probably the biggest problem is global warming. This natural occurrence is going on all the time, it heats up the area in which the polar bears live and destroys more and more of their habitat. One way that we as people can stop this is to greatly cut down on the amount of pollution we put into the environment. I think the polar bear was chosen for our school mascot for a number of reasons. One being that the polar bear is very fierce and tough animal. Another reason is the persistence of the animal because it is able to fight for survival in the world that it lives that is affected by global warming.

We can all contribute a little bit to help save the polar bears habitat. One of the main causes of global warming is the burning of our fossil fuels. We can reduce this by recycling and using our cars less. Climate change has affected our polar bears by melting away the ice the the polar bears depend on for hunting, mating, and resting. You can find polar bears in their natural habitats in Greenland, Russia, Norway, and Alaska! We should admire polar bears for their strength and courageousness. Polar bears are dying by the day. At this point their extinction is almost inevitable. Almost. The main cause of death amongst polar bears is climate change. Their homes melt away and their hunting space (the water) increases. This leads to drowning due to miscalculation of the size of the water. To help polar bears, we can breed them in captivity and release them. The problem with this though, is that they will be used to a controlled climate and not fend for themselves in their natural habitat. You can find a polar bear anywhere in the tundra. Polar bears are fierce, brave, and intelligent. A trait of a polar bear worth emulating is bravery.

We could first gaze out fossil fuels. This would stop constant c-o2 emissions greatly. Once this is achieved we can then actions to more public transit and green energy. Green cities are great examples. Once these steps are taken life should be much easier and the ice caps can make a swift recovery. Polar bears are located mainly in the south few on the north poles. They are going extinct due to carbon emissions and melting ice caps. Making food hard to get. We probably Cher the polar bear cause it marks pride and a symbol of confidence on our student body. They are very loyal and protective of their own. And that’s just how most students should be. They should be able to stand for their fellow cubs.

I think some things we could do to save the Polar Bears is making some laws. We need to watch out for them because then we can keep them from dying, which could soon make them become extinct. Zoos, could also be a solution. The zoo would have to be very cold because the bears live in the cold. The climate change in today’s world is only making their lives worse. The weather keeps getting hotter and hotter making it harder for them to live. To see some Polar Bears, you would probably have to go somewhere cold. Like Antarctica, because it’s very cold there, and they have habitats there. The Polar Bear may be our mascot because it fights. Just like our sports team for example. They fight for the win just like Polar Bear cubs mess around with each other. The big bears could fight for food. Like we fight, for the good things. Polar Bears are very big animals, but also pretty cute in my opinion. Except when they get dirty from being in the water, ice, snow, and all that. But that is where their habitat is so no judge.

Polar bears are a interesting topic. Global warming is all our fault scientists have figured out that it was going to happen if we liked it or not, but we are accelerating the process. We cant't just take all the polar bears into shelters because if that were the case they could never re-adapt to their old habitats. Polar bears mainly survive in Antarctica and their diet mainly consists of fish, penguin, and seals. Global warming is hitting them hard because how they catch prey is on the ice and the ice is melting, Polar bears are getting stranded at sea on chunks of ice. This unique convergence of ecosystems, nourished by the Hudson Bay coastal waters, is home to polar bears, black bears, wolves, and moose and a remarkable number of bird species. Being uniquely located on the Mississippi flyway, the massive flocks filling the air at the commencement of the fall migration can be awe-inspiring. It's our mascot because it shows that we won't give up easily and we would always protect our turf. As any other mascot that can show so much as a different meaning but yet some have other reasons why it's our mascot. For one, we could use less gas. This will make it cooler so the ice caps don't melt.Second, we can make conservation plans for them, getting 2 in a safe captivity and letting them breed so they don't get killed by poachers. Also we could put them on one of those lists so that they have a protection on them.If they get killed the killer would have jail time or a heavy fine.We need to save them and its important that we do because it could mess up he ecosystem in the ice caps.

We could save the polar bears by using electric cars instead of cars that produce harmful exhaust. Climate change destroys the polar bears home. Climate change melts the ice and snow they live on. You can see polar bears in their natural habitat in Antarctica. The polar bear could’ve been chosen as our mascot because it’s intimidating and a fierce animal. A characteristic polars posses that worth emulating is their hard working attitudes. Polar bears are animals that humans should make an effort to preserve because all wildlife is important so all should be saved

One way to prevent polar bears from going extinct is to stop using cars. The cars pollute the air which then cause climate change. Temperatures in the Artic are rising at least twice as fast as the global average which cause the ice to melt. The loss of sea ice affects polar bears ability to find food. Polar bears are only found in the Arctic. School may choose a polar bear as a mascot because there big and tough but there also cute. One characteristic about a polar bear is how hard working they are.

One way to prevent the extinction of polar bears is to actually start caring for our earth. Global warming IS real. Whatever Donald trump says is wrong. He’s not the sharpest crayon in the drawer. Global warming is killing polar bears because it melts the ice and the live on the ice. Most people should be able to connect the dots.
Ice = home for polar bears. No ice = no home for polar bears. No home = no polar bears.
You can see polar bears in the arctic. I’m not really sure why the school chose the polar bear as our mascot. Well, this morning, the sidewalk was really icy and we were watching all the people fall in Mr. Dellagattis class. Ten people fell and three people almost fall. Apparently, it was icy enough for polar bears to live there so maybe that’s why

We can protect polar bears by preventing them from dying and breeding them. Climate change has made the Arctic very warm, which is not how polar bears are meant to live. You can go to Antarctica to see them in their natural habitat. Polar bears are a common mascot for schools because they represent toughness but also they are cute. Characteristics of polar bears are their heavy and warm fur that protects them from the cold. If Antarctica keeps getting warmer, their fur will become useless and cause them to overheat.

One way to protect the polar bears is caring for earth and recycling. Global warming is REAL!!! The glaciers are melting so the polar bears have to search for there food and leave their habitat. They are found in the Arctic, Alaska, Norway, and Greenland. The reason they got chosen for our mascot was because they are fearless and fierce. Some characteristics are that they are survivors and they help the other polar bears.

One way to help the cubs is to go green such as buying a tesla or other electric cars and recycle, I say electric cause global warming is real. This leads to them leaving there homes to find food. They are found in Greenland and Norway. they are our mascot because they are big, strong, and fierce. Some of there traits are kind, nurturing, strong, and protective.

One important way to save polar bears from extinction would be recycle recycle recycle because all the trash that is reuseable is just throw around and it really affects all animals polar bears are very strong and independent animals which is a reason they are most likely choosen as many school mascot

An important way to save polar bears is to care for the earth more often by picking up litter and reusing plastic. A place you can go see polar bears is in Antarctica. Polar bears are represented as our mascot because they are tough. A characteristic to describe polar bears are tough and cute.

so one thing that us humans can do to prevent animal extinction is to have the polar bears inside of zoos, or to stop predators from killing too many. However, climate change has destroyed their homes as well. Some places that humans can comfortably see them in a naturalistic habitat is the zoo. There’s really only a few places polar bears roam freely anymore. I believe the Polar Bear was chosen as our mascot because they’re supposed to represent strength. Polar bears are actually very interesting animals who live off of many different types of fish.-julienne raines

To protect polar bears from extinction, we can donate money to organizations helping them. Climate change has affected polar bears because it’s melting the ice and snow, taking theirs homes. Places that we can see polar bears are in zoos or sanctuaries. This animal might’ve been chosen as a school mascot because their characteristics are good examples to students. Polar bears are very strong and determined.

There's no real way to protect animals like polar bears. That kind of stuff just happens. And putting them in a zoo or something is like imprisoning them. Also, mascots aren't picked because of a characteristic usually, usually it's just picked by a vote.

What we can do is make a law where people can get in trouble for killing them cause some people to kill them to make clothes, rugs, etc. Climate change could affect polar bears because they are used to the cold and their body is meant for it, There bodies are meant for it because of how much fur and how thick their fur is. The polar bear might have been chosen because they are very aggressive and in sports, we are that we are good at most of them. Polar bears have 42 teeth and that means they would be able to defend themself better and attack there prey also better.

We can protect the polar bears from extinction by beginning to take care of the world. Climate change has affected the environment that the polar bears live in. Their habitat is beginning to become too hot for them to survive. You can find wild polar bears in Canada, Russia, the United States, Greenland and Norway. The polar bear may have been chosen as the mascot for our school because it is fierce and strong, Just like our education and sports should be.

We can save polar bears by putting them in habitats that they can survive in. Not like zoos but in areas were humans can't interact. The people of earth need to help animals from extinction because it is really are fault.

They also act like a family and protect one another.

polar bears are going extinct because of humans they are being killed and because of possible climate change the earth is getting warmer and we don’t know how to stop it and it’s a big problem polar bears are located in alaska Canada greenland russia and norway the polar bear is our mascot beacuse of its strength and will to live

One thing you can do to protect bears from extinction is to make it to we’re they wont get killed by ice melting is to go out and knock them out and put them in zoos. And that will make it to we’re they won’t get killed and then when the climate fixes its self then release them into the wild and the climate change has effected them a lot. And also the natural habitat you can see them at zoos and if you go on some tours in areas that there at you will maybe see a couple. I don’t know why they choose the polar bear as the schools mascot but I’d say it would have to do with their survival and how long they live and it’s the fighting spirit of the school
